Originally brewed as a one off to celebrate the opening of our new brewhouse and our new distribution centre, it is now one of our permanent beer. The beer was created under the direction of our Chairman, Jonathan Adnams, whose instruction was to ‘Brew something to wow me’.
It came first in its class at the 2008 World beer awards and has also won a Gold medal at the 2008 BBI (British Bottlers Institute) awards.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.7%. Hops are Boadicea, Styrian Goldings and Columbus. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Pleasant hoppy aroma, also notes of fruits, hints of honey, toffee and blackcurrant leaves. The well rounded flavour has a nice balance between distinct malts and pleasant hops, some fruity sweetness, honeyish notes, the alcohol is noticeable but not disturbing. Moderately bitter aftertaste. Good beer.

L- Quite dark amber, with a 5mm white head, now receding.
S- Contemporary, some citrus, perhaps grapefruit.
T- Quite dry hoppy front, some subtle citrus middle into a meaty tasting and slightly zesty hoppy finish. I also believe grapefruit to be closest to the citrus taste here.
F- It is towards the bright/hoppy side of tastes, but the 6.7% gives it a richer body that balances that and so together this works ok for me. Ie it's not just another contemporary over-hopped lower-ABV%, face-twister.
O- That said it might suite drinkers who do enjoy dryer+some gentler citrus; being more of a deeper-ale drinker by habit I'm unlikely to choose to drink this unless out on a hot summer's day, on the terrace when it could work nicely. Well put together though, it shows that 'contemporary' can be done in a mature and balanced way.
330ml bottle. BBE: March-2020.

Look: light orange/dark yellow. Warm and nice. Head was close to non existent poured in a tulip.
Smell: fruit and hops. Very classical.
Taste: fruity and bitter hops plus malt. There is a bit of citric acidity, as in grapefruit. Some alcoholic kick. Not the best IPA I've had but reasonably decent.
Feel: light bodied. Carbonation is medium to low.
Overall: good, not great, but definitely good.

6 month old bottle.
Orange, low carbonation, almost no head. Taste was straight malts and grapefruity. A bit sweet. Mouthfeel a bit harsh, booze is present. Bitter grapefruit aftertaste.
