I was surprised to find a unpasturized German Pilsner at Beer World of Largo Fl. The nice light foamy head gives way to a lightly carbonated pilsner with a minimal amount of hops. the lite nature of this beer would make it a great refreshing warm weather beer.

I haven't seen this beer in the Midwest,

500ml bottle. "Un pasteurized". **5.1% alc**

It pours into my large pilsener glass a nice gold with a perfect white head. Nice carbonation bubbles.

Smell isn't outstanding but it is nice. Gets duller with each passing second. It is nicely herbal, plenty of noble hops.

The flavor is good. Low bitterness with some fruity hop flavors, nice bready malt character. A good proportional pilsener.

Definitely like the non-pasteurized part but as a pils it isn't super amazing.

Appearance: Hazy golden color with a moderate white head, slight carbonation, lots of broken lace.

Aroma: A bit of skunk was noticable at the pour. Biscuit malt aromas as well as a distinct floral hop note comprise the simple, but pleasant aroma.

Taste: Opens with slightly tart malt flavors, towards the middle of the taste the hop presence becomes noticeable, rising to a cresendo of metallic and herbal bitterness, which only gradually fades away at the end of the taste.

Mouth feel: Quite light and insubstantial, not unpleasant, but seems quite thin for the style.

Drinkability/notes: Not striking, overall, quite pleasant, seems a bit different from other German Pilseners that I have tried, but there is nothing to despise.

Packaged in a pint brown glass bottle with a pop top crown, served in a standard pint glass.

Half-liter bottle, in a mug glass.

Appearance: Very light straw-gold color, crystal clear. Initially a good head, but it dissipates very quickly.

Aroma: Light, sweet malt aroma, with a touch of pepperiness.

Flavor: Very grainy, sweet malt flavors. Medium hop bitterness, not much hop flavor. Clean, quick, dry finish.

Body: Light body, medium carbonation.

Fairly average beer, not bad, though not interesting either. Clean with few faults except I'd like more noble hop flavor, and a little more bitterness.

This clear, pale (pale) gold beer sports a 1" white, foamy head. It's very active, almost suggesting the tiny spots of lacing are launched, not trailed. There's plenty of heady schpooncken, sugar and nuts in the nose. I like it. The beer starts off bitter, nutty and sugary, turns sweet and full, then very bitter, with grass and crackers. This is a decent, bitter pils. It's quite nutty and fruitens with temperature.

Strikingly bitter hop nose grabs your tongue and plunges it into a surprisingly malty pool for such a bud-light body. At first, it feels like you're sticking your tongue THROUGH this beer rather than into it (so, at any moment, you feel as though the charade is going to collapse and some hideous yeast or grain-bill profile is going to emerge...but it doesn't. It just hangs tough to the bitter----make that, sweet and juicy end.)

While not a feature in itself, the hop pop is pretty good for the first half. Good and scratchy! It almost serves as a fake play to reveal the extraordinarily light--yet impressive--malt body.

[Dangerously light-brown bottle on this one! After a short skunk snort, it aired out fine. Next time I'll rip into the boxes!]

This sample was a gift from the brewery on their tour of the US. 0,33l brown Euro-style bottle. Freshness date notched on the back.

Poured into a slender German Pilsener flute, this beer is seriously pale is colour. Nearly clear with a very watery golden tinge. Carbonation is quite active, forming a nice white lace that retains much of its presentation throughout.

Light, but distinct German noble hops in the aroma, and notes of grain. Smooth upfront mouthfeel, light-bodied, sharp metallic bite that melds with the snappy carbonation and citric (lime-rind) and salt-like bitterness. Quite dry, very crisp and refreshing. Light grain flavours in the finish, that linger.

A bit lacking in the eye-candy department, but this is definitely a highly quaffable German Pilsener. Nothing overly exciting mind you, but still pleasant.
