This arrived as a deep amber and red with a small head that lasted very well. There's plenty of nice looking lace.

The smell has lots of amber malt flavor topped with bourbon and a hint of hops. Bourbon and hops are definitely present in the taste but take a back seat to the hefty malt content. The mouthfeel is very full and pleasing.

Well done.

On tap at the KSBF ’06.

Poured a deep amber color with small sized off white head.

Aromas of wood, vanilla, light bourbon and a trace of citrus.

Tastes of stronger bourbon, wood, and citrus.

The bourbon tastes were too strong and overpowered the other tastes. I’m usually a fan of BA beers, but the bourbon tastes (and I like bourbon) really didn’t add anything - actually took away from the hoppiness I liked in the regular Hedonism.

On tap at KSBF '06...
Appears a hazy brown, caramelized, cola color with a small, soapy, off-white head that slowly fades out. Little spots of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of bourbon, oak, vanilla, caramel, and subdued hops.
Taste is of the aromas with a bit of a bitey harshness that's either from the oak tannins, or the residual hoppiness that is trying to crawl through the bourbon oak aging.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, sweet, bitter, with oaky wood lingering in the swallow.
Overall, not a bad experiment.

This has been aged in bourbon barrels.

A: The ale is a coppery red color that has been clouded a bit by the aging.

S: The ale has a bourbon sweet aroma that is undercut by a biting hop smell.

T: The ale has not done well in a barrel. The bourbon is too strong, sugary and alcoholic and the flavoring mixes poorly with the hoppy nature of hedonism. The flavors are muddled and the result is a hoppy bitter, sugary sweet bourbon mix.

M: The mouthfeel is not so hot, as I elaborated above.

D: Not very drinkable. I was not impressed with Hedonism, aging it in a bourbon barrel has not helped much.
