on tap at Duckworths (NC)
Pour is dark mahogany, a bit light for the style. This lightness carries over to the mouthfeel (too thin), flavor (a bit light, especially in terms of dark malt), and aroma.(again, a bit light in terms of dark malt). Also rather sweet, falling near a sweet stout on this count, On the positive side, the coffee component is more like fresh beans than old grounds, and is in balance with the other flavors and aromas.

From notes back in February. Tap at Good Bottle. Very dark brown pour, thin layer of off white.
Aroma, a ton of coffee and vanilla.
Taste, yikes, a watery vanilla coffee. And that's it. All right there is a light earthy tobacco/peat and chocolate.
Struggles to get above light bodied, carbonation would be fine if it wasn't so thin. Denis pretty easy, but this is a one and done.

This beer was a disappointment in my book. Don't get me wrong, I love olde hickory and stouts in general, especially ones with cute dogs on the label. It had a pretty good vanilla flavor to it however, it was just extremely watered down. It was a no go for me but if you like weaker beers then maybe you'd like it.

Appearance: Pours a coffee brown color (what else would be expected) with a foamy beige cap; a few strands stick to the pint glass
Smell: Freshly roasted coffee beans, brown bread and a hint of vanilla
Taste: Smooth coffee with a hint of brown bread and dusted chocolate, up front; a hint of grainy bitterness in the middle and then a finish with the Madagascar vanilla in bloom
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A wonderful example of a lighter stout that is packed with flavor; the vanilla (I was wary at first) really adds a nice dimension to the finish

A - black with a reddish hue; thin white head with little retention
S - strong coffee aroma, roasted malts
T - coffee, roasted malts, chocolate
M - crisp, a tad over carbonated, medium bodied
This is a really nice coffee stout. They chose a nice strong coffee that isn't too bitter. They also offer a nice malt character that compliments the coffee with some chocolate notes. This one was easy to drink and very enjoyable. It's nice to have a full-flavored beer with a lower ABV. This is definitely worth a try.

Poured more a deep dark brown than black with a half finger deep tan colored head atop. The coffee as expected is huge in the nose,it's roasted with a hint of wood and raw earthiness, the vanilla is there but is subtle up against the coffee roast.Flavors also have more the deep roast coffee elements than the vanilla but the vanilla does provide a nice back drop up against the big roast and earth,it gets a bit raw in the finish. If you like dark roast coffee than this is for you,it's nice and smooth, and is what it says it is.

@ Busy Bee
Had this on on-tap and nitro - liked the regular draft a little more.
Nearly black with a thin, bubbly sheet of a head. Aromas of dark, shiny roasted coffee beans (no stale grounds here) and vanilla. A bit more vanilla bean in the flavor with more coffee roast tastiness. The blending of flavors is well done and the beer comes across as pretty mellow, but pleasant all-around. A nice, smooth, easy-going breakfast stout...
