A - light orangish yellow-copper; thin white head; little retention

S - yeasty, lightly fruity

T - yeast, sweet, fruity, very malty, cereal grains

M - crisp, heavily carbonated, light to medium bodied

This is a decent session beer and has decent flavor. It's highly drinkable, but ultimately forgettable.

22 oz. bottle that showed up on the doorstep just before Christmas as part of a larger box of goodies from Metalmonk. Opened with dinner last night and poured to a pint glass. Marker ticks on the label edge "...enjoy me before: A[pril] 12"

Tough to find any info on this beer, as it doesn't show up on OHB's; it seems to be a rebirthing of a long-standing session ale once made by Carolina Brewing. As such, no idea on ABV or style other than "Session Beer".

"Born in Boone...Raised by you one bottle at a time"

A: Golden pour with a slight butterscotch-orange tint. Very clear/well-filtered, a look that shows of plenty of small carbonation. Sturdy head, 2-fingers of eggshell cream that drops very slowly, a waning landscape of dunes and craters. Very good lace, sticking bands of glistening suds.

S: Very simple nose. Weak malts that are barely 'bready', more cracker-dry. Floury, too... note that's 'floury', not 'flowery'. Hops? Can't find 'em...

T: Like the aroma, there's a fair amount of maltiness. Fortunately, it's more pronounced: a fresh-baked bread, a cut hay/dry grass quality, spritz of lemon, touch of honey. Flavors aren't particularly bold, but they're balanced. Hops aren't discernible, but they are enough to counteract grains.

M: Soft and creamy... light body. Not much substance, but it's very smooth and finishes clean.

O: A decent 'session' beer, pretty straightforward (boring?) but easy enough to drink; mine disappeared quickly and paired well with a spiced Korean chicken and broccoli dish. I question the validity of the 'APA' designation; sure it's 'American-made', but the stylings are lighter and more 'English' to me. As for ABV, I'm guessing no more than 4.5 or 5% - very much a 'session'/pub ale feel.

Poured into an imperial pint glass a clear medium golden with a fluffy white head atop that left a half ring of broken lace as it settles slowly.Iron/metallic aromas really stood out along with some toasted grain,a light sweetish tinge of caramel as well,reminded me of a lightly sweet cereal.A medium mouthfeel is somewhat creamy in texture.Flavors are artificial sweet cereal- like with a tinge of iron in the finish.Sessionable yeah I guess but it doesnt have much complexity and/or hop presence,I wouldnt buy again.

Saw this new one on the shelf when I was picking up my Lindley Park at Bestway in GSO. Split and shared with a friend. Poured into a pint glass.

Pours a chilled-hazy gold with a thin white collar around the edge. The nose is earthy with mild vegetable scents coming through mixed with light fruity aromas and faint leafy hops. Good crisp mouth. Bubbly zip right where it needs to be. The earthy quality carries over to the flavor as well. Lightly bitter. Pale fruits dominate, but there's something about this beer I can't place that just isn't right. Dirty finish? I don't know. Something is just off on this that would prevent my having this again. It's not terrible, but there are far better beers out there for me to sip and savor.

Pours a head of blinding white, and the liquid is washed-out golden peach. Head doesn't last terribly long. Bubble activity is sparse and slow.

Very light and crisp nose, could be a golden ale or lager. There's a Fiddle Faddle corn-and-caramel thing happening, very light though. The hops are herbal, and a bit on the spicy side. Not much happening really, but smells nice enough.

Pear and apple are dominant taste impressions, while there's a playful, lighter sweet spiciness creeping into the taste. Sweet and herbal, also a good dose of fresh baked white bread. Something (very mildly) cinnamon-ish too. Everything dies away pretty quick, and the body, while crisp, is also way too watery to prop up any flavor that does exist here. A peculiar, almost plastic-y taste emerges in the finish, but doesn't linger. With that dominant apple flavor (Apple-achian?), it reminds of cider more than once before the bottle is emptied.

Nothing special here. I wonder why a quality Brewery like Olde Hickory revived this beer? (It had originally been brewed by Carolina Brewing Co. until it was discontinued several years ago.) Nostalgia for the earlier days of North Carolina brewing history? (It first appeared in 1978.) I don't know. I wouldn't bother with it again, but the label reads "session beer" and for that purpose, it would certainly do in a pinch.
