Stopped by the brewpub and started out my meal with this one. Have had this a few times out of the bottle and enjoyed, so I was excited to try this on tap. Came out a deep black, with a thin khaki head on top. Minor lace left behind. The nose yields quite a hop presence that surprised me. Roasted finish. Nice pleasant "stout-y" aroma.

Moderate depth, decent carbonation, finishes quite smooth. The hops add a nice bitter quality to this one. This is one of the more "green" stouts I have had in awhile. Piney hops meld well with the toasted char flavor that is quite common with this style. Chocolate notes, but they are fleeting. If you like hoppy dark beers, this one is right up your alley. Still one of my faves from this brewery. They really know how to brew some dark-beers.

Nice black features with dark brown edges, there was a large bubbly and lively head.

The scent is exceptionally weak but there are dry chocolate notes and lactose-sweetness.

Strong carbonated tastes and feel there's a wateriness that fills the mouth. Dry Graham cracker, dry chocolate and a plastic milkiness exist but get lost in the water.

I brought this to a bottle share and walked away embarrassed.

Bomber pours a near black with ruby highlights at the edges of the glass. The disconcertingly effervescent head with very large bubbles settles down within a couple of minutes, but not attractive and not a pleasant pour.

Aroma of roasted dark malts and dark chocolate, with some smoky wooden barrel in the background. A warm and robust aroma with good depth. The taste is more single dimensional and surprisingly astringent, with a bitterness that some may not enjoy as much. Mouthfeel is much thinner than I expected.

Purchased in North Carolina and a brewery I'm glad to have supported, but not a beer I’d choose over many other American Stouts.
