I was travelling through here from Bristol on my way home and with the help of BeerAdvocate, I decided to stop off for a beer. A rather large place tucked away behind some hotels. Definitely German in appearance. I happened to show up during one of the matinee shows and the place was slam packed with cars. The bar area was deserted, so that was fine with me.

Selection of beers consists mostly of American macros with a large selection of German beers. Basically the whole Ayinger, Weihenstephaner, and Franziskaner lines with the ubiquitous Stella Artois and some Sam Smith. I would imagine this is the only place in this part of the state with anything other than BMC.

Not a bad place to go. The dinner theatre seems like it could be cool. They have a Christmas show around that time of year, so I may stop back in around Dec.

This is a German beer bar/restaurant in a dinner theater off of I-81 in Wytheville, Virginia. Strange? Yes, but in that part of the state it is an oasis. The food is not that good, typical German bar food in most cases. They do have a good selection of German beers, Spaten Oktoberfest on draft and 25-30 bottled beers. Some of the bottled beers are somewhat rare, Ayinger Jahrhundert Alt, Pinkus Munster Alt, Hacker Pschorr Edelhell, so you can find some new things to try.

Live music every Saturday and Sunday during warm weather in the Bier Garten. If you ever are on I-81 at exit 73, give it a try-it will be your best beer for the next 100+ miles in almost any direction you might go.
