Served in a Half Acre shaker pint glass.
I think one of our future brews should be named Rose-Hops Horizon (or something like that). Why not? This Horizon, though, pours a slick obsidian topped by a minor bit of darkly dirty ecru foam. The nose comprises rich dark chocolate, chocolate liqueur, molasses, raisins, light anise, and a touch of brown sugar. Tasty. The taste holds notes of insanely sweet (cloying is a start...) chocolate syrup, molasses, maple syrup, brown sugar, and black licorice. The grimace caused by the o'erwhelming sweetness is larger than Ronald McDonald's creepy, possibly mentally-challenged purple friend. (He scares me deeply, by the by. Nightmare fodder for sure.) The body is a hefty medium, bordering on the truly heavy, with a light moderate carbonation and a fairly chewy feel. Overall, this thing is far too sweet to actually be enjoyable. Now, I enjoy sweets as much as the next lunatic with a sweet tooth (most of my teeth are sweet ones), but this goes too damn far. It's hard to keep going. Harsh.

Zero head pours. Pitch black thick brew! Dark and nasty tar appearance.
Tons of heady sugars. Loads of taffy, bubblegum, caramel, chocolate, coffee, sweetness...
Loads of gooey caramel and toffee. Whow, coffee. Nice light carbonation, not flat, just low. Kinda funky and European finish. Wet, malty, earthy, chewy, gummy, resinous, grapy. Tons of Port and port finish in this one.
Kick ass in so many ways. Damn near and dessert wine. As the label says "dessert beer"...nothing more needs to be said. Kind of an undependable brew, but still great and should not be over looked. This brew rocks and is highly recommended. Aroma is killer and flavors are great too. Feel falls short.
