Bottle from @LaitueGonflable.

Pours a hazed buy not particularly cloudy white-golden colour, with a frothy and fairly firm head of bubbly white. Minimal lacing, and very light body. Carbonation is fine. I like a little more heft to my wits, but this is decent enough.

Nose is flat and a little bit dusty. Some mild wheaty grain characters, and a touch of faint powdery citrus sharpness. There's a good deal of pretty heavy carbonation with it, however, which leaves a faintly carbonic, acidic overtone. It's ok, but I feel that at best it's generic, and at worst, it's dull and lifeless.

Taste is similar, although there's a pleasant clean nothingness to it for the most part. Mild pepper and a touch of cotton candy on the back gives it a smooth counterpointed finish, with a touch of mildly astringent curacao. Mostly it feels flat, unchallenging and pedestrian.

Yeah, it's a witbier. It's not a bad one, but it's pretty uninspired stuff. Bland and flat, without the pop and crackle I expect.

To be honest, I'm pretty surprised that Nøgne Ø doesn't do a better witbier than this.

On draft at Churchkey in D.C. for the Nøgne Ø event. Thanks to Kjetil Jikiun. Review from notes.

The beer is hazy and light yellow colored with a small, white head. The aroma brings citrus, light spice, wheat. It smells true to style. Nice, refreshing flavor. Light in body and well balanced. Smooth on the palate with some pleasant notes of citrus, wheat, floral hops, subtle spice. A good thirst quenching beer. I would have this again. Skål!

poured from a 500ml bottle into a Tulip glass

yellow/blond in colour with a very small white head

smells of wheat (no shit Sherlock!), pine/woody, strong citrus aroma

tastes of what (naturlich!), citrus - orange, maybe a little grapefruit? Also light spice/herb flavour in the background

medium bodied beer, fairly light/easy to drink and refreshing, quite a bit of carbonation
the small head remained throughout drinking and some lacing on the glass

dry-ish finish

a very good witbier overall!

Greenish yellow color and very cloudy. The bartender poured this very slowly, so there isn't much of a head. Light stringy lace on the glass.

Perhaps it's all about being in Scotland, but I smell Scotch Whisky initially (perhaps a bit smokey). Yes, there's wheat, but it's not the first thought that comes to mind.

A dry beer with more hop bitterness than most wheats. The wheat flavor is dominate but not overwhelming. Very high carbonation, but the body is rich enough to give a touch of balance. No sourness and the swallow is refreshing without leaving much of an aftertaste.

Bottle at de Struise. From notes.

A - Poured a golden dark brown sorta colour with a two finger white head, strong carbonation, and a cloudy body. A thick ring of lacing was left with a film of retention.

S - Tons of lemon, yeast, a little sweet spice, and some zest.

T - Good sweet spice to go with the intense citrus element. Orange and yeast come out too.

M - Strong carbonation and a light body.

O/D - Very nice. A good example of the style with a light refreshing ABV. Good.

Poured from a 50cl bottle into a chalice.

A - Cloudy amber colour with a lazy finger of basic head.

S - Coriander, malt and wheat. Slightest hint of berries.

T - Not quiet what I was expecting from what I'm lead to believe is a witbier. Slightly sour at first (offset by the head for the few seconds it's around) with none of the coriander freshness I was awaiting. Very spicy and bitey with cherry and some sugary burnt-caramel/licorice coming through. Later some strawberries coming through as well.

M - The malt comes through and coats the mouth to offset the initial bite/sourness.

D - Seems to have all the hallmarks of this style but is definitely something different. Having said that it's quite drinkable, although the sourness might be offputting after a while.

The beer is clouded dark lemon yellow, has a white head that leaves no lacing.

The smell is sweet citric and spicy.

The taste is also sweet, bitter lemon marmalade with bitter orange peel, coriander and clove.

Medium High carbonation, soft and refreshing, a dry finish.

A nice wit, with a good bitterness. Sampled at a beer tasting at De Klomp, Linköping, Sweden.

Pours a hazy sunflower colour with decent white head, nice and dense and amply fed by a steady flow of bead from the base. Good retention, and leaves some nice wads of lacing.

Nose is pleasant and Belgian. Lots of citrus, orange and grapefruit, tangerine even, with a slightly sour green edge. A lot of distinct Belgian yeast, not hugely spicy but with nice clove and white pepper providing some pleasant piquancy. Smells a bit par for wit, but also very refreshing; I like it.

Taste is rather sour for the most part. Has citrus flavours on the front, with orange and lemon zest, gets spicy on the mid, potently so, without that piquancy from the nose. It's almost a paprika kind of spice, very sour and earthy, deep, not exactly refreshing. Trails off and retains a residual sour character, with a hint of capsicum and even fresh garlic - yes, a very savoury kind of finish. Some vinous notes and a bit of acerbic citrus rind on there as well. Interesting palate with good infusions of flavour. However, the whole is not entirely successful because there is an imbalance in the profile, and doesn't have a great deal of chemistry between the parts. Tastes interesting but odd, I guess.

Nice full body, for a 4.5% beer. A lot of infused "bits" hold it up, although a slight sting at the back makes me a bit wary of it, just a bit harsh.

It's growing on me, actually. The tang is more prominent than grittiness and it's becoming quite refreshing. A good drop.

500 ml bottle from Norway

Pours hazy pale yellow with amazing huge and dense white head, it even held a small coin. Dense patchy lacing. Aroma is citrus wheat and coriander.

Taste is yeasty citrus and orange with sourish wheat and weak hoppy aftertaste. Mouthfeel is light-medium with above average carbonation, it had some slight astringency towards the end of the glass.

Overall, an excellent Witbier. I wish I could have more of it.

A - Pours a hazy golden straw colour with a couple of centimetres of fluffy white head that slowly falls away.
S - Citrus and coriander notes with obviously a quite dominant wheat presense.
T - Orangey citrus and coriander also in the taste along with a bit more of a woody/herbal character and wheatiness.
M - Light bodied but verging on medium, a fair bit of carbonation & a bit more of a bitterness than a regular Wit.
D - Damn, these guys have proven with this and their Bitter that they can also make "normal" beers very well.
Not something I'd drink often due to the price/availability but something well worth trying.

Pours a cloudy straw approaching amber, with a inch high head that shows great persistence.
Lots of herbal and earthy hops on the nose, along with the more tradition sweet orange peel, coriander, wheat and lemon. Perhaps too much hops, especially for the style.
Flavour is equally hoppy, as well as lemon and wheat. Much more bitter than expected.
Good lively carbonation.

Bottle: Poured a lightly hazy medium yellow color ale with an average foamy head with OK retention and no lacing. Aroma is dominated by loads of coriander with some very light wheat malt also discernable. Taste is also dominated by some coriander with some light traces of wheat malt. Body is definitely too thin even for the style with some average carbonation. This one is OK at beast but mot something I would go for very often.

Pours a cloudy pale orange with a very thin white head that quickly dissipates.

The nose holds some great citrus notes, a slight bitter hoppiness, and some spicey corriander.

The taste is very nice, it's like a hoppy wit. Notes of orange, corriander, and slightly bitter hops that produce some grapefruit and grassy notes.

Mouthfeel is thin with great carbonation.

Drinkability is fairly high as it is easy to consume due to great flavor and low alcohol.

Thick sediment in bottle. I turned the bottle upside down a couple of times, like the brewers recommend, to get maximum pleasure out of the yeast. The result was that my pants now have the unmistakenly typical witbier aroma of coriander, cloves, over-ripe bananas and orange peel. The rest of the beer hit my glass, and there the aroma was even better! After the ENORMOUS foamy head had subsided a little, I found out there was actually beer underneath - colour: Cloudy golden, nearly brownish. Flavour: Again typical wit - coriander, cloves and orange peel. Very refreshing. Moderate aftertaste. How wonderful that the "lager desert" of Norway now has an uncompromising micro brewery that DARES make good beer!
