Brauhaus serves traditional Bavarian foods that are excellent. I always check the seasonal menu before looking at the everyday menu. Their seasonal dishes include wild boar and venison, just to name a few.
They also have a brewery on site, as their name suggests, Brauhaus (Brewhouse). They brew three distinct beers. The first is a nice heavy hefeweizen, followed by its lighter cousin, kristalweizen. But my favorite is by far their dunkel. Dark and flavorful, but not too heavy.
The service is great, for German standards, and the price is reasonable. They do serve a lot of Americans, so their should be no language barrier. Great place for friends or family.

Just a short trip from the Mainz Hauptbahnhof, I found this place when visiting my girlfriend's family in the area. Here's the scoop:
So we came here on a Thursday afternoon, probably a little before most people would be off of work. That's probably why this place was mostly empty of other patrons. Understanding that, I obviously can't really comment on the mood when it's full of people. As mentioned by others, Brauhaus Castel is decorated in a pretty corny Bavarian theme. It seems a little much, but as was pointed out to me, there are probably a lot of American military patrons who may like this sort of thing.
Food was mostly Bavarian dishes, and pretty good. The beers on tap at the time were a Märzen, and a helles. They were both great.
The waitstaff was very attentive (though as I said, it was just us there), and we were never left thirsty. Fairly inexpensive.

Brauhaus Castel in Mainz-Kastel the best place in RhineMain to go if you want to drink good and eat good.
The place is set up with a Bavarian style, and during seasonal events, the waitresses get dressed up to match. The prices are far considering what you would pay in Wiesbaden or Mainz for this quality or service. The local is frequented by Americans who work on the nearby Air Field so they speak and provide service in English.
They serve Helles, Dunkles, and Hefe-Weizen all brewed on the premise, and you can buy 12 and 24 cases of 0.5L to take home. They also serve seasonal beers to include: Oktober Fest, Christmas Double Bock, MaiBock and others. All brews are also served in 0.5L or Maß (1.0L).

Having just arrived in my new home of Wiesbaden, Germany, I went to work finding the brewpubs I could easily visit within the area. This was one of the first, and I was quite pleasantly surprised to discover that it was extremely easy to get to, that the parking was very adequate, and that the place itself was very cozy and well decorated in a Bavarian fashion. I ordered the schweinebraten in a beer sauce made with their own dunkel. While the meat itself had a few tough spots, the sauce was fantastic. I had their dunkel and found it a bit astringent but pretty decent overall. I will definitely visit this place again since it's very easy to get to.

One of my favorite places in Germany! It is decorated in a Bavarian style, a very great feel to the place. The food is very typical German eats, but very huge portions and all very good. Very worth the price.
They have their own brews here: Dunkel, Hell, Weisen, with seasonal Oktoberfest, Christmas Bock and a special brew in May. The beer is the best thing about this place. I have been filling up my 2 liter growler weekly, it only costs 4,20 EURO!!!
Another strong point to this place is that it has its own parking lot, which can be a rarity in Germany. Plus, if the lots fills up, there is plenty of parking on the side streets around.
The staff is very friendly. I have talked with the brewmaster a few times. He agreed to sell me bottles for my home brewing; he was actually very excited to talk to an American home brewer. This helps me out a lot since I am stationed here and was in need of bottles.
Overall, this place rocks. The staff pretty much all speak English, and are nice as can be.
