Poured a nice light golden amber. A touch hazy with a rather large white head. This quickly faded and left behind just a thin film accross the top and a decent amount of lace. Nice carbonation visible streaming up from the bottom.
very light citrus hops were the most noticeable. A malty back was there, light grain and a touch of sugar. Wow, this was just awesome. It was like a light IPA, but not in the normal watered down bad way. Nice solid grain backround gave way to the light citrusy hops. Very nice. A touch of susgar made it just a bit sweet, really well put together. Super smooth. Not that much of the carbonation translated over, but enough to make this really nice. Went down well and was not too thin at all. Superb. They are not lying about creating a great session beer. This is the perfect session beer, could drink it forever.
Overall I was very much impressed here. It just was soo smooth and light you could drink it forever and not even know. If I was around it more it would stock my fridge constantly.Just a good, no, great beer.

S: Herbal, slightly resiny, slightly spicy, clean caramel malt
L: Burnt orange, white head that dissipates
T: Fresh almost floral malt followed by a mild herbal bitterness and then some dry caramel. Finishes fairly dry with some residual hoppiness.
M: Medium-thin body, medium-low carbonation
Malty, with some herbal hoppiness, similar to a vienna lager but obviously an ale. Interesting.

Pours a light brown tinted amber, decent cream colored head, little lacing. Scent is dominated by sweet malt, with a muddled earthy and light citrus hop presence. Taste again controlled by a lightly sweet and nutty malt, some earthyness to the hops with limited citrus. Medium bodied, fairly creamy, decent carbonation. Like many of Blue Points beers, this tends to lean more towards an English influence than American.

Served out of a bottle and poured into a chilled glass
A Has a nice amber color with a subtle creamy head.
S Slight malty aroma, not much else...I will wait a bit for this to warm up and see if there are any other notes.
T Has a sharp bitterness up front with a lingering bitter finish/ after taste. Not really to much to get excited about.
M A bit zinggy on the tounge
Overall this is an average beer. Spring ales are supposed to be too complex but I cant see myself drinking more than one or two of these. Probably more worth the try on a warm summer day.

Today is the first day of Spring 2011...It's time to try this! Into a pint glass it pours a bright, clear, and carbonated copper color under a nicely sustained medium foam head. Aroma carries a solid flowery hop nose and balancing sweet malt note. A sharp hop bitterness upfront moves across the palate into a smooth yet full flavored toasted biscuity malt feel. Earthy flavored citrus hops are nicely noted throughout. Refreshing yet robust. A nice Spring offering from Blue Point that I'll be happy to grab more of this Spring...

I picked this up at Wegman's in Mechanicsburg in the mix-a-six area, poured chilled from the 12oz into my dfh shaped pint.
The color is as the label indicated a very clear copper, with an ample cap of cream -rocky and over three fingers from a vigorous pour. The bead is fine and carbonation rises visibly at a semi-fast pace indicating a well carbonated brew. The retention and lacing are both good. The aroma is of slight citrus scented hops with a sturdy malt backing -mild toasted and caramel notes with a gentle sweetness and light spice.
The flavor is very fresh and balanced with the hop flavor giving a vibrant effect of citrus up front with some general fruity elements which could be contributed by the yeast. The taste is very well integrated with the malt giving a subtle toasted character, yet not too dry with just enough caramel to accent and yet the beer is quenching with a semi-dry finish. I was very pleased to be able to try this fine Pale from Blue point. I would not hesitate to share it as it is a good example of the style.

Clear orange-with-a-tan topped by white bubbly that clears to lacing. Active carbonation while I look at it in the glass. Aroma of citrus peels, hops, slight lemon/grapefruit, and some dandelion. Starts bland citrus, hop leaves, then follows with hop resin, light fruit, some cereal background and a malty sweet note as the beer warms but hops remain in the forefront slick on the palate. The bitterness hits a high point toward the finish and sours the tongue. Light in body with medium carbonation. A pale ale that gives a nod to the West Coast but falls short of impersonation. Drinkable but a few hop notes that really hurt toward the finish.

Decent color and good head retention. Nice clear dark golden or light copper color. Reasonably mild characteristics, though a bit heavy for something associated with a "spring fling". I can't get around a metallic smell and taste I'm getting from it. I don't know if it's hydrolysis from bad grain, something from the brewing equipment or just poor water quality going into it. Whatever the case, nickel on the nose and on the tongue. I think it'd be a decent brew otherwise.

Fresh (just hit the shelves), 12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
Look: copper, amber color with two fingers of white head that recedes fairly quickly and doesn't leave lacing behind. Big carbonation bubbles are probably the visual highlight, racing towards the top of the beer.
Smell: some floral hops, bits of citrus, and a bit of pale malt aroma. Very faint aroma and not as pungent as I would want.
Taste: bready malt with a good amount of floral hops and bits of citrus hops. Its balanced nicely but its also a a bit quiet in terms of flavor.
Feel: medium tending towards light, crisp, refreshing beer.
Drink: a good sessionable brew if you think 6% beers are good to session with. Not a whole lot is going on to fatigue your palate so this is something you could enjoy a few rounds of.
Overall, not particularly impressed. At 6%, this beer doesn't have the flavor to match, I'm afraid. Still, its a good, sessionable pale ale and that's clearly the intent. Give it a try if that's what you're after and its available to you. Cheers!

The aroma is pretty average for a pale ale with a decent balance of hops and malt. The appearance is light amber with a foamy head that fades to nothing. The taste is like the aroma with a hoppy finish. The palate is smooth. Overall its a very good beer but nothing spectacular.

As the name implies this ale is a deep semi cloudy copper with a tight white lacing.
It is subtle on the nose. Sweet and floral.
Taste shows off a little floral hops up front which are quickly taken over by a rich biscuity maltiness. This beer is nice rich and creamy in the mouth. Becoming really easy to throw back. This beer is exellent now and would be better as a sessioner in the warmer months with friends and family.

Poured from 12oz bottle into 16oz Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass.
Appearance: Light copper in color with a large, slightly orange-tinted head that dissipates pretty quickly and leaves behind a lot of spots of lace.
Smell: Smells a lot like a pilsner- it has some sweet grain/malt aromas with citrus and a bit of a piney aroma.
Taste: Begins sweet and somewhat citrusy, rounding out to a fairly strong hop bitterness backed up by bready flavors.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with balanced carbonation and a dry finish.
Drinkability: A good beer that definitely seems like it would fit well with the spring. This is something I wouldn't get excited about, but it is a good beer to drink during the springtime.

A: The beer poured clear copper in color with a thin off white head that has good retention properties. A high amount of carbonation is visible from the rising bubbles.
S: There are aromas of pale malts and grassy hops in the nose.
T: The overall taste is rather malty and the finish has a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and somewhat crisp on the palate. It is also very well carbonated.
D: This beer is rather drinkable, quite refreshing and sessionable.

I am back on the island for a few weeks and trying to catch up on the latest the isle and its environs have to offer. This is a little outdated but I don't get back much in the spring.
Pours a deep bronze color with a mighty fluffy head that falls down fast. Nice leftover lace though. The nose is hoppy with a bready, grassy tinge to it.
Plenty of flavor to this one. The hops are there with a citrus base and the malt counters with some biscuit and yeast notes. The mouthfeel lets me down a little bit with a thin texture that seems lore like a lager than an ale.
Solid, but probably better in March or April.

I'll admit I am a fan of most of Blue Point's beers. I picked up a six pack of this on the way to a friends house the other night, along with a couple of other random six packs. I was expecting to like the beer, I love Ales and I love Blue Point. I was really blown away, I loved this beer!
A great copper Ale. Perfectly Hoppy, sping ales usually lack enough hops for me. I'd love if they rebranded this and kept it all year round. It is a nice beer in their lineup, less hoppy than their Hoptical Illusion (which is in my top 10 beers), but more hoppy than their Pale Ale.
I will be buying much more of it!

A - Dark amber with an inch of head. Nice.
S - Wheat malts and slight grassy lager smell
T - Slight bitter with hops and malts present.
M - Bitter yet not unpleasant. Good pale ale.
D - Meh I really can't buy this other than the variety so if PA six packs laws don't change I may see another variety case in the future. Pretty good overall.

A : darker golden to light copper color, good head, retained well with laces.
S : faint bitterness to the smell of this ale, with a good malt mixed in, both light.
T : this beer starts light, then quickly turns to a good medium malt and finishes with a very slight bitterness from the hops. Nice, clean, smooth finish.
M : For a spring ale it sticks with you quite nicely. The hops linger on the palate very slightly.
D : An easy drinking beer with just enough malt and just enough hop. A few of these will do just fine!
Overall I am impressed with this one. Blue Point is always fresh, which I am sure adds to this beers character. It is easy drinking but still imparts great flavor. Progressively less bitter with each sip due to the lingering of the first hop taste. Great work BPBC!

A - Golden approaching amber color. Not a great head, which faded to lacing pretty quickly
S - Malty aroma with a good bit of lighter crystal malt in there.
T - Bready flavor to go along with the pale malts, a definite toastiness to it. Some earthy hops. This does not taste like an APA to me, much more English.
M - Nice clean refreshing finish. Would say it is a bit heavy for an American pale, but this seems right on for English style.
D - Goes down clean and easy, will appeal to a wide range of people.

Hadn't seen this one on the shelf before. It sure doesn't feel like Spring today, but I'm always happy to try a new local. Blue Point, in my experience, tends to run above average but not excellent (with a couple of exceptions on the excellent side).
A: Pours a crystal clear copper. Looks calm and still. Pour leaves a half inch white head that settles into a persistent cap. Light lacing.
S: Not much. Mainly a generic pale malt smell. Maybe a tiny bit toasted.
T: Caramel sweetness with a definite toasted quality. The hops are floral and a little piney. Not quite bitter enough, which throws the balance off a bit. Again, nothing special going on, but nothing's too wrong with it either.
M/D: Carbonation's a bit high, but not that bad. It's all pretty much par for the course for an APA. Nothing special or particularly interesting, but nothing wrong with it. Don't think I'll go for it again. Now, off to find some Rastafa-rye.

Pours a clear copper color with about two fingers of beige head. Keeps a pretty full, nice looking lace and leaves some nice webbing on the sides.
Smells of toasted malt and a bit of caramel. Hops are very feint; only a bit of earthiness and a hint of citrus.
Taste also consists of primarily toasted malt and caramel, with a bit more hop flavor than the nose let on. It's primarily earthy like the nose, with a leafy, slightly herbal quality as well. Very minimal bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and pretty smooth. Slightly dry in the finish. Moderate carbonation.
This is decent but it's really nothing to get excited about. Pretty basic pale ale that's pretty light on the hop character actually. The toasted malt is the dominant quality. Decent stuff.

"Long Island's Brewery" calls this copper ale, really just colorful American pale. Amber hue, tight bubbles, thin head. Dry aroma, some caramel malt. Tastes like wheat toast, rye, brown sugar. Creamy feel, drinkable. Like a nice day at a baseball park watching two teams you don't care about.

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter - Fridge - 2009
Appearance: Pours a copper color with orange highlights. The head rises 1/4" and is off-white. No retention at all, it goes away rather quickly. No lace either.
Smell: Cereal grain, toasted barley, and an earthy mushroom aroma.
Taste: Pinchy alcohol and carbonation. More cereal grain and maybe a tad bit of hops. Not overly complex.
Mouthfeel: Lots of active carbonation in the mouth. A bite of alcohol in the finish.
Drinkability: A straightforward bock style beer. Pretty refreshing and solid, worth consuming in repetition.

Half inch just-off-white head, diminishes quickly, leaves spots of lace. Nice light amber color.
Bouquet is a not very strong perfume of herbs and flowers with a yeast and bitter edge.
Taste is subdued also, even for the style. It is an underwhelming, but pleasing and nicely balanced, delivery of the flavors the nose foretold, ending in a finish which fades overly quickly to thin bitter and mild citrus notes.
Mouthfeel is nicely dextrinous, good for the style, but with more carbonation than many of the English pales I've tried, (possibly right in step with many American pales I haven't tried), and less flavor to combine.
Drinkability I rank only as average, it isn't as complex or delicious as I would have hoped from other Blue Point offerings I've enjoyed. Not sure I will buy this again, it isn't outstanding or memorable in any way.
