Tasting sample pours a hazy golden-orange with some soapy lace leading to a nose that seems a tad more English in style with a big bready malt and some caramel against a backdrop of earthy hops, greens and orange blossoms. Palate speaks to a more American-styled IPA with the moderately big bitterness, but the flavors still lean towards the major breadiness. There's some vague hits of juicy orange and hoppy leafiness, while everything dries out on the finish- lingering bread crust and bitterness. Overall, not bad, but certainly what I'd consider of the more boringly flavored IPAs.

A rather brown pour, dark copper and red kind of color. Far darker than your average IPA. Off white head, about 1/4" deep, a little thin.
Aroma was hoppy, heavy malt aspect to it. Grains. Comes off as lots of Cascade hops.
Taste, substantially bitter. Tons of bittering hops. Again, Cascades give off the grapefruit character and pithiness. Big hit of caramel throughout it.
Man used to drink these quite often, I don't know what the deal is now, but their distribution seems to be almost nil. Seems like they continually lower the heft and abv of this beer every year or so.
While it used to be pretty enjoyable, every subsequent time I have it, it comes off less impressive.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass. Picked this beer up at The Cellar in Norman, Oklahoma.
Appearance-Light amber color with steady streams of bubbles rising. A foamy off white head that started at about 2 fingers but quickly subsided to half a finger where it held steady. Light lacing.
Smell-Light hops. Sweet malt smell. Light caramel. Very balanced. Smells delicious but not a typical IPA smell.
Taste-This beer didnt attack my palate like i expected. Almost no flavor up front, just a light sweetness. Finishes with a light hoppiness with some light caramel as well. Definately not robust or overpowering. Good, but not what i was expecting from an IPA.
Mouthfeel-Beer feels crisp and refreshing. Watery? Seems to have above average carbonation.
Overall-I found this to be a pleasant, drinkable beer. Very mild tasting for an IPA. Great color and nice lacy rings after each drink. Just not enough hop flavor for me.

A: Pours an interestingly light amber color with a nice, but miniscule, 1/4 inch head. There is quite an excellent retention of the head for only being 6.7%.
S: Not quite what I was expecting. The caramel malt backbone comes through considerably more than the floral hop aroma. The over all result is a mixture of caramel, earthy, floral essence.
T: The tongue once again agrees with the nose. Caramel malts flood through the palate followed by a floral hop coating. Even though the malts are favored overall, It's actually balance especially well.
M: Nicely carbonated and relatively easy to drink. Even though the malts are the dominant factor in flavor, the hops come through by making this smoother than expected.
O: I picked up a single 12 oz. bottle just to try it out. The hops don't define this IPA as well as I would like, but it's still an easy to drink brew. This would be a good beer for those just transitioning into IPAs.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a hazy sunburst orange with basically no head, just a thin ring along the sides of the glass. It looks very still, lacking any sort of carbonation.
S: The toasted malts are definitely the backbone in this one. There are some hops present of the floral variety, but they take a back seat to the overpowering malts.
T: Similar to the aroma with the toasted malts overpowering the floral hops that try to make an appearance. I pick up on a touch of sweetness, probably again from the malt backbone.
M: It is medium bodied with a slight oily feel. There is no carbonation and it probably could have used some. It has an oily finish that coats the palate.
O: This was definitely one of the maltier IPAs I've had. The hops had a very small impact and that isn't really what I'm looking for in an IPA. There was no date printed on the bottle so maybe I just got an old batch. I'll have to pick up some that are more fresh and compare.
