On-tap at a local, bavarian themed, pub
A- Very cloudy golden with some amber notes if seen through light, carbonation is well hidden, so that's a good pouring. Medium and perfectly white head with good retention
S- Nothing worth remembering. Grain and yeast. Faint but delicate
T- Again, a very delicate taste and feel. A fresh malt flavour is nicely matched by yeast. While keller beers usually have a hoppier character if compared to standard Hell Lagers tihs is not the case. Some faint hop bitterness may be detected on the tongue, where you can also some find some nice fruity notes
M- This is sure not a beer with strong flavours, but it has a very soft feel that makes you long for another sip. Super smooth, with a crispier and more lively finish
D- An incredibily easy drink and fresh drink, but still a soft and delicate character
No great flavours nor amazing complexity, but still a beer that you would not stop drinking once you have tasted it

T: Slightly sweet upfront. Sweet grains. Bready yeasts. Light flowery hops
M: Medium smooth creamy body. Medium carbonation. Mild bitter aftertaste
O: High drinkability. Great beer! Highly recommended

500ml bottle. Weizen glass. From my notes (may´11). Golden color, foggy appearance. Off-white, small bubbled, crown. Fairly good retention. Moderate mildy malt aromas, bready notes & slightly floral hop. Smooth & well balanced flavor: some sweet maltiness, slightly citric hoppiness, subtle acidic touch & clean bitterness. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Sweet notes in the middle. Watery texture. Finishes as started: balanced hops & malts.

A: Amber looking intense color, very yellow when against light and of course as peer the style cloudy, head is well formed by mixed but rather small bubbles and dissipates slowly leaving some traces behind, color is almost white, carbonation seems rich and constant for a permanent head on top.
S: Honey smell is the first thing in my nose, even it is not very intense it also has some wheat malty backbone.
T: There are malts and hops in this one also the yeast is present but nothing extra to remember.
M:This one is refreshing and start neutral changing slowly and showing some bitterness in its character for a lasting chewing ending not dry.

A: Translucent, light amber/dull golden brew. 1 1/2 finger white head that settles after 2-3 minutes leaving good albeit irregular lacing.
S: Grassy/spicy hops, pale malts that have a lightly toasted character. Very clean.
T: Follows the nose. Initial crispness becomes increasingly smooth as a full-bodied, balanced brew emerges.
M: Flavorful, yet light enough to be quite refreshing. Smooth (as mentioned) with a very unobtrusive carbonation that's just right.
O: This was a nice change from all of the stronger, darker brews I've been drinking lately, though I think that also means I was struggling a bit to fully appreciate it. Definitely better fresher, but still a nice smooth, balanced lager that actually tastes authentic.

Pours a golden apricot colour. Good head and lacing. Nice.
Smell is lots of sourdough and yoghurt. I like this yeasty smell. Also some fruity apricot subtleties.
Taste doesn't quite follow through on the promise of the nose. It seems a bit synthetic and lacks the yeasty goodness of the nose. Also a little sweet/alcoholic.
Mouthfeel is enjoyable. Medium body, moderate carb.
Overall an enjoyable beer.

My First KellerBier
Pours a 2 finger head, cloudy straw colour.
Aromas of some citrus / dough / yeast.
Taste is very interesting a, hybrid of Hefe, Witbier, and Euro Pale Lager. No real hops on the back palate but still quite balanced with sourness not sharpness - a thirst quencher
Very refeshing, went down a treat.

Poured from a 500ml glass bottle into a Samuel Smith pint glass. My very first Kellerbier, I am looking forward to trying this.
Pours nicely, with excellent head retention leaving a lace around the glass as I drink.
Unfortunately I can't smell much due to a cold.
It has a nicely balanced taste, reminiscent of a Hefeweizen in some respects, as it has undertones of the same sort (spicy/herbal almost) yet the overiding feature is a nice drinkability. Quite malty and slightly sour though the sourness is nicely balanced and not too overriding.
I will happily drink this again in the future.

On-tap at Sin and Redemption, in Toronto.
For a style that's brewed in such a way that intentionally allows most carbonation to escape, Hacker-Pschorr Kellerbier seems to have retained a great deal of it; an eruptive, well-frothed foam percolates atop the glass as if it were the bubbling cauldron of a witch. The beer beneath it, the colour of a not-quite-yet-ripe mango, is turbid but bright.
For those out there who have never actually eaten a hop cone, I don't advise you try it - raw hops have a very raw spice to them: a tongue-searing, palate-branding heat similar to that impressed by a particularly strong, spicy mustard. I speak from experience. And I note that spice (albeit heavily diluted) in the earthy pungency of this beer's aroma.
Indeed, the taste is a playground of sorts where minimal carbonation allows grassy, herbal hops to run amok and fully zing all their zestful zestiness. Being unpasteurized, however, a more noticeable yeast presence gives the beer a 'fullness' not usually found in lagers. Of course, Munich malt (in ample supply) certainly has something to do with that also!
Citing vitamins and minerals left-behind in the yeast, the bar menu advertised kellerbier as "the healthiest of all beer styles" - this is the last beer that needs a claim like that to convince people to drink it! The thing sells itself; not only is it exponentially more flavourful than most golden lagers, but it drinks with exceptional refreshment and agreeableness.
For most German brewers, lagers tend to be their bread and butter. This brewery is no different and, indeed, you'd be hard pressed to find a better example of a smooth, easy-drinking yet tremendously flavorful and gratifying beer than this right here. Unfiltered and generously hopped, this ain't no dime-a-dozen swill: it's lager heaven.
Hacker-Pschorr Kellerbier is probably my favourite of the style to date, which is no surprise considering that all of this brewery's offerings are considered benchmark examples of their respective styles and are each stellar beers in their own right. Not to mention, the style is extremely rare and few examples exist. Nonetheless, this is an absolutely idyllic lager.

A - Cloudy amber colour with a mild head.
S - Lots of citrus; orange and lemon dominate. Mixture of herbs as well with some spicy overtones.
T - Low carbonation. Somewhat malty on the palate. Definite sweet-orange flavours coming through with some zesty/spicy stuff to compliment. A touch of sourness lingers as well.
M - Light malt coating with a decent level of spice and sourness.
O - Needs more carbonation; unless this particular sample is an aberration..
Nice enough to drink but not as enjoyable as Spaten.

A=Nice dark, golden color; two finger head lasted over a minute.
S=Nice moderate aroma with decent hop aroma and a slight sweetness.
T=Nice hops flavor with a bit of bite...noticed a bit of aftertaste. A bit of sweetness as well with a hint of carbonation. Hint of citrus as well.
M=Nice...smooth and refreshing.
D=Very drinkable...the sweetness prohibits it from being a beer that you would chug, but would stand up well with a meal or by itself on a hot day.

a nice sipper in the mid day. having one now. as a keller its like a pilz that has gone sweet. you can say it sits till it loses its carbonation but the carbonation is a bit subdued. although it still has a body and a retention and lace this keller is well back in malt and particularly malt oriented. nose of mild pilsner straw and a heavy lush honey pollen. palate is very delicately floral and a bit-o-honey brown sugar flavor. malt expands very very gentle to reveal so delicate floral aspects and mild earthiness. lemongrass, sandelwood and honeysuckle.

S - Nice earthy grainy aroma that is a little sweet.
T - Plenty of earthy notes up front that transforms into a yeasty grain flavour that finishes a little bitter.
M - Light body a medium carbonation.
D - Nice easy drinking style of beer that I recommend.

A: With an amber appearance, light-bodied and semi opaque to light. Generates an abundant foam of small bubble, with good retention in the same way it behaves with respect to
residue while the carbonation is low.
S: It has a subtle aroma and slightly sweet.
T:In its taste is the ideal combination relatively very bitter end, faintly sweet first converges to a bitter light if it were a freshly baked breads

Enjoyed on-tap at Chancey Smith's. An orangey colour with a good mouthfeel. A sourness that's well amlted, a good bitterness, some cloves, pepper. I enjoyed the flavours of others of this style, including Creemor, far better. Still a good drinkability.
