Had this on 2011-11-27 in Columbia, PA
A - Very hazy , leather-brown with a 2-finger light tan head that fades to 1/2 finger quickly.
S - Lots of clove, some banana, touch of apple cider sweetness.
T - Delicious. The roasted, sweet malt mixes with the banana and clove, conjuring again the illusion of fresh-pressed apple cider. Of course, unlike cider, this dries nicely and pretty clean.
M - Medium body and high carbonation give a cleansing and thirst quenching feel.
O - I just finished a vigorous 15-mile hike and sat down to enjoy this beer. It tasted great and sure is a nice start to replacing the electrolytes I crave (see the movie Idiocracy if you don't get this joke).

Pours very cloudy burnt orange with an off-white fluffy head that is large and laces well. The aroma is sweet, grainy, yeasty, and some banana as well. It's a very smooth beer, medium bodied, zingy carbonation, malty sweetness, a little bit of hops in the finish. I really enjoy this style. I love hefe-weizens and this style is even more interesting to me. This beer is worth a try for sure.

Presentation: 16oz. brown bottle; no "bottled on" or "best before" date; $1.79 from Pavillions; Georg Pschorr's sallow mug on the label. I'm assuming this here beer is in fact the Dunkel Weisse; label actually reads "Weisse Dark" (obv. = "Dunkel Weisse"), the reported ABV being 5.5% not 5.3%.
Appearance: Pours a lightly hazy, caramel brown; huge, pillowy head; looks like someone ladled out a dollop of Bisquick atop this puppy; light-to-moderate lacing of an unprincipled nature; stellar head retention.
Aroma: Sweet and spicy; hints of banana and tart apple.
Taste: Robust, sugary wheat malt profile; firm notes of spicy cloves, bananas and chocolatey roastiness; discernible hints of bubble gum and yeast; sour apple like wheat twang.
Notes: Stellar; thoroughly enjoyed Ayinger's Ur-Weisse the other night and prefer this; not entirely unreminiscent of a toned down Aventinus.

Pours a dark orange/amber color, with a slight cloudyness and a thick white head.
The biggest smells here are fruit and malt.
The beer has a nice crisp taste, common to most weisse beers. There is a big fruit , wheat and clove taste, that is very common to the weisse style, but what makes this different is the maltyness. It helps to balance the beer and blend the tartness of the clove with the fruitiness.
Overall I was very pleased with this beer, a good changeup to drinking hefeweisen's. Definately something I would buy again.

A: Poured with yeast...of course. Color is a hazy, iced tea, brown. An ecru head that pours huge but settles to a modest cap.
S: Banana, clove & bread notes.
T: Tastes like liquid banana bread. I like this much more than the regular version of this beer. The extra malts or toasting of the grains that go into making this a dark version help amp up the taste. Nutty banana bread. Very nice.
M: Medium thin. A tad thinner than ideal. But a quick swirl regenerates a creaminess with a renewed head. Very peasant.
D: This is an great tasting beer. Not quite as good as Weihenstephaner's version, but very close. A great example of one of my favorite styles of beer. Getting this at 13 bucks a case was the deal of the year for me.

This beer pours a clear amber tea color with a massive cream colored head. As hard as I tried, I could not keep the head controlled. But thats okay too ;-) It has a very nice wheat aroma with cloves being the next in line to dominate the smell. Very nice! Ive waited some time now, and the head is still 3 fingers and holding. I guess Im going to have a cream colored mustache. The taste is a nice tart wheat flavor with mild but well-balanced hops and tapers into cloves, wheat, and light yeast to finish each swallow. Very nicely done! This complex brew is light to medium bodied and finishes with a light dry clove flavor left on the tongue. I will have this brew again! Prosit!

1 Pint .9 fl.oz bottle That says "Hacker-Pschorr Weisse Dark Traditional Dark Wheat" on the label below a picture of Pschorr.
Thick, rich head sits at least two fingers above the beer, which almost resembles an apple cider color, only with a deeper amber tint. Looking at the glass it appears more like pudding than a liquid due to its darkness.
Smells like fruit and grains with a light, sweet aroma.
Taste is light and fruity with the slightest tinge of bitterness on its way down.
Feels smooth and clean, goes down very nicely.
I really enjoyed the bottle, but wouldn't have more than one in a day. Would certainly entertain the thought of purchasing this again, even though I don't usually tend to purchase wheat beers of any kind. Definitely left an impression.

Poured a 3 finger head, diminished to a foamy thick collar which retained well leaving puffs of broken lace all the way through.hazy dark copper appearance.
Smell was clovey, with a wiff of fresh baked bread.
Taste is very similar to smell, no banana or vanilla detected on this one.
Mouthfeel is slightly creamy and tangy at the same time, smooth goodness.
all in all this is a VERY good dunkel...I must have again.

Poured into pint glass
S- Roasted malt, sweet
A- Dark red amber, rusty almost, thick cream colored head, looks warm and inviting, minimal lacing
T- Nutty, toasted wheat/bread
M- Slightly flat, medium feel, sits heavy, filling
O- Solid dunkel. Was expecting more depth or complexity. Felt slightly watered down. I'll chill the next one a bit.

Aroma has a strong wheat character, including phenol qualities of clove. Hints of dark malt and caramel and nutty sweetness.
Huge tannish head. Amber brown slightly cloudy.
Flavor is much like aroma. Wheat beer qualties incluing some phenol and clean. Ever so slight richness from dark malt with notes of caramel or brown sugar and some nuttiness. Very pleasing.
Little thin but soft and refreshing.
Nice drink. Smooth and thirst quenching.

This brew pours a brown color with reddish hues around the edges of the glass. The head is massive last long lasting. The aroma is cloves, chocolate malt, and banana. The taste is like the aroma, but with a little less clove. The mouthfeel is a touch lighter than medium bodied, and the carbonation is high and too style. Overall, this is a pretty good dunkel weizen...not the best, but pretty good.

Ahh the Mrs. bought me a six-pack of this. I guess I should buy her some flowers or something now. Served in a weizen glass with a murky amber appearance and nice two finger head. Smells of bread with a light smell of roasted malt and hops. Taste is similar to smell bread up front with cloves and roasted malt cutting to just a hint of hops. The mouthfeel is light with plenty of creamy suds, thats the way I like it! This is beer is very drinkable. It would be great summertime beer, for a hot afternoon.

Served in the brewery's own weissbier glass at between fridge and cellar temperature. Freshness date reads 05/08.
Appearance- Caramel brown, this beer pours elegantly and creates a big, fluffy head right off the bat. With the yeast addition swirled in, the beer hazes and the crown is adorned with peaks and canyons. Minimal lacing, but even after ten minutes the foam is still complete.
Smell- Only slightly fuller than Hacker-Pschorr's regular hefeweizen, the notes of banana and clove blend in a bubblegummy world of traditional aromas well suited for the style. Big wheat malt nose as well.
Taste- No surprises here, just a balanced showing of wheat, banana esters, and gentle malt sweetness that goes down so easily. A subtle, pleasing dunkelweizen that could be sessioned with or without traditional German bratwurst and potato pancakes... or whatever you'd prefer instead.
Mouthfeel/Drinkability- Gentle carbonation throughout this tasting, playing off of the flavors with a light to medium texture. A very enjoyable, drinkable beer and right for the occasion... whatever that may be.

Poured a brilliant orange/amber color, with a smallish beige colored head. A little spicy on the nose, with a bit of caramel, some cereal and rye bread. On the palate, this one is sweet, crisp, gingerbread, mint and medium bodied, with some caramel, toasted malt and cereal.

The label says Traditional Dark Wheat and has a picture of some bemused looking fellow; to the left it says Georg Pschorr and on the right are the dates 1798 1867. There is a date on it 09.03 which I suspect is a best by date. The beer is brewed according to the German Law of Purity of 1516. Color wise, it is kind of coppery-orange and had a nice tan head. The aroma was strongly clove and some firm maltiness; not much banana at all, perhaps some hints of fruity esters. Flavorwise, the beer was on the malty sweet side, with some spiciness probably from the phenolic wheat beer yeast notes. The only hops were a slight bitterness which obviously was simply to balance the sweetness. The beer came across as medium-heavy but was pretty smooth and definitely tasty. Although it is a different style of beer, I prefer these (particularly this one) to the more standard hefeweizen beers.
For a BJCP dunkelweizen I'd put this at about 4.5/5 - could stand to have a bit more fermentation character to compliment the maltiness.

A - Poured out a brown color with a tan hue at the bottom of the glass. It had a big, foamy, tan head with big bubbles that slowly receded.
S - It smelled nutty and of wheat and sweet malt. There was also a subtle cherry aroma.
T - The nut and wheat flavor were balanced by a biscuity malt flavor. There was a sweet citrus kick at the back of the tongue.
M - It was smooth and soft. A light to medium-bodied beer.
D - This is a great tasting Dunkel. I've only seen it one place and I only grabbed one - a decision that I regret.

Pours a clean brown color with a decent off white head that stay around a while. Smelled of sweet malts and some citrus. Tasted of a brown ale with a good malty caramel flavor but with citrus flavors coming through as well. I picked up some orange, it was a very nice blend, and went together perfectly. The best part was the nice creamy rich mouthfeel it had, it went down easy.

Serving Type: 1pt bottle, very nice looking. Oddly enough the picture is the one that is loaded when you look up the Hacker-Pschorr Dunkle Weisse but it is the Weisse Dark but it is not the Dunkle Weisse...
Appearance: Pours a cloudy brown w/ a lovely 1 finger head. Ample lacing...very lovely
Smell: Light wheat, citrus and a touch of banana's I want to say. Very tame but pleasing
Taste/Moutheel: Very smooth and very filling. Goes down very easy w/ a lovely texture. Slighty sweet, but in no way overpowering, Malt at the beginning and ends w/ a fruity taste to end it, apples it seems(banana too). Very subtle and leaves a slightly sweet aftertaste.
Drinability: Fantastic Dukel and extra tasty very enjoyable

Poured into a pint glass.
A: Came out hazy and chestnut brown. Nice tight off-white head with excellent retention. Lacing was average.
S: Nice breaded yeast aromas along with soft caramel. Dark fruits and clove-like scents also present in decent strength.
T: Tastes of overripe bananas and clove initially. Rounded out by a significant yeasty presence that lends notes of other fruits and spices, as well as bready notes. Quite sweet.
M: Medium bodied and adequately carbonated. Sweet bready aftertaste that lasts only briefly. Coats the tongue nicely.
D: Very smooth and drinkable. Goes down nice and easy.
Pretty damn good wheat beer. Very similar in character to Boulevard's Lunar Ale (which I tasted recently), but the flavors are better blended and the body is noticeably more substantial. Solid all around and worth trying for sure.

Appealing golden-brown color, with a creamy, fine head. Decent head and cloudiness imparted somewhat by a bottle-swirl to pour in the yeasties. Pleasing nose, with the typical Bayerisch banana-clove combo, though not overly spicy. Taste yields more of the flavors picked up in the nose...banana-clove, etc. Medium bodied, and well-recieved on the tongue. Well-pleased by this offering. Zum Wohl!

The beer poured a hazy amber brown with a nice white head. The bottle must have layed on its side before I bought it because there was sediment on the cap and on the neck of the bottle. The clove aroma and taste dominates but is not so strong as to overpower. There was a lingering tartness in the finish. The mouthfeel was a little creamy and light. It was a good beer which I have enjoyed but would probably not buy this beer again. The tartness spoils the overall beer for me but I know that it is within style.

I was pleasantly surprised to see this and its lighter sibling at a store in Salem.
Quite a distinguished looking beer, light hazy chesnut brown with a large frothy off white head.
Rather pleasing aroma..the usual germen hefe smells plus a rich maltiness.
Nice taste to this it has the usual esters and spiciness of a regular Hefe and a nice caramel malt sweetness.
Very smooth on the tongue and semi-dry finish.
I found this exceptionally drinkable..I shall be returnin to the store to by a few cases of this stuff.

Appearence: Pours an almost clear coper with a sizable foamy head. Little lacing and carbonation.
Smell: Smells almost entirely of malts. Chocolate and caramel are the most powerful smells.
Taste and Mouthfeel: The flavor of this beer is extremely unique. It tastes like dark fruits fused with cocoa and toffee. I must say I don't think I've experienced a beer like this one before, and I really enjoyed. The mouthfeel is slick and oily.
Drinkability and Overall: The thing I like so much about this beer is its unique flavor. It's complex and well balanced without being overwhelming on the taste buds. As for drinkability, I could continue enjoying these all night without a problem simply because of the great flavor.

A- Medium sized off white head that dissipates somewhat quickly. Nice lightly hazed brown colored beer.
S- Roasted Nuts, milk chocolate, caramel, bananas, cloves, and a hint of honey, and some light floral hops. I really like all the smells this beer has going on.
T- Chocolate covered bananas with caramel drizzled over it. Also some nice clove spice and roasted nuts in the flavor. The hops are more apparent in the flavor then in the aroma, they add a nice dry bitter crispness to balance the beer out a little. This is a tasty beer.
M- Nice silky mouthfeel with a bit of hop bite at the end. Finishes somewhat dry but leaves a chocolate banana coating in your mouth.
This is one of the best dunklewizens I have ever had. Great beer, I will be buying more of this!
