This is a first for me: A brewery that brews 4 different PILS!!! Glückauf is definitely something spezial in this reich but I couldnt wait to see the differences. Two of them I had trouble distinguishing the differences, both were fantastic regardless of there very subtle differences. One is a Kräusen Pils and the other was average (as in better than the big guys but not the best).
Next up was the Kräusenbier. A very spezial technique that I find important that its still being practiced!!! This Bier didnt build up the kind of Schaumkrone(head) one would expect. Very fizzy and fell quickly back into the Bier although it did leave some lace. The Bier is cloudy and straw yellow. Upfront I found some very nice spicy/ flowery hops followed by a slightly sweet soft malt aroma. The yeast aroma is mild and bready. This is a very well-rounded nose. It begins slightly bitter and has a brisk carbonation. Its very full of flowery hop flavor. Hints of grain are to be found. The bitterness lingers nicely. I liked this Bier but prefer my Pils filtered. Yeast and Pils just dont worked so well. For me a Pils defines purity of ingredients. Hops, Malt, Water The yeast just muddies the first three.
Zum Wohl!!!
