Ignore the ratings -- this review is just to give everyone a heads up that this establishment is not currently open

We made the long trek out there on Friday October 10 2008
and found them closed for rennovations -- lots of scaffolding -- like so much of europe

Bar across the street was not very helpful

be sure to call first to make sure they are re-opened before making the trek

because of clasp-smelled change and repair works

(unfortunately we did not check before going out there)

Alter Fritz is no more, at least for BA's.

I and my small party made the long trip out to Tegel to see what we hoped would be a wonderful old brewpub and try some interesting beers. We walked the 2 K's from Alt Tegel S-Bahn, what a mistake, good job we are friends.

The place is now an upper class restuarant and wine bar with 'Carlesberg' their regular beer!

We arrived wet and cold on a January Sunday evening and left without even having a drink, the bar across the road looked interesting, but was closed on our visit.

At least you know, we didn't.

Quite a nice establishment on the northern edge of Berlin. Take the U6 to Alt Tegal (End of the line) and then either walk a KM or take the bus 2 stops right to the front door.

The location is on a corner of a somewhat residential area. Nice building and lots of trees around. There is a biergarten in the center of the U-shaped establishment, but I was there in February, so I didn't get to try it out. Looks good and I look forward to visiting it this spring. The location is close to the Tegalersee, so this would be a great place to slake your thirst with a hefe after a walk along the lakeside.

Service was not the best, but i suspect they might have more servers during the spring and summer seasons. There is a room for parties.

the small brewery is visible right when you walk in the door. A beautiful copper set up in the middle of the entry way. You can even take a beer in the standing room in front of the kettles and admire it.

They had 3 beers, a hefe, a hell/pils and a dunkle. They were all decent, but nothing to get excited about.
