Used to drink it with some frequency while lived in DF. Golden color with a fluffy head that disappeared completely right away.
Light aroma of malt with predominant lemon notes.
Taste follows nose, a zesty lemon flavor with malt and some adjuncts. Almost no bitterness and no aftertaste.
Watery body with medium carbonation.
Tasteless beer, on the positive side its lemon twist feeling can be great on the beach and a thirst or spicy quencher.

Poured a 12 oz bottle into a Sam Adams glass. This review is for with and without lime added. Pours a nice medium gold color but with almost no head. No lacing. Aroma is slightly sweet, with a hint of bread. After adding lime, it smells much more citrusy. Go figure. Taste is almost non-existent, with very little by way of malt, hops, or anything else. With no lime, there is almost no flavor and I now understand why it comes with lime. Even lime doesn't really bring much to the party. But it IS better. Has a decent mouthfeel, smooth with a hint of carbonation. It does do well with spicy Mexican food when served with a lime, so it's got that going for it.

12oz can at fridge temp poured into a pint glass.
Purs out a bright golden yellow color, kinda what my pee looks like after I drink an energy drink. Big, fizzy white head quickly fades to a super thin, patchy, soapy layer. Super clear.
Smells like absolutely nothing. Maybe the slightest buttered corny grains.
Mineral water, hose water, slightest buttered sweet grain.
Thin, watery, but not really overcharged like most.
Worst than most macro lagers. AVOID!

Poured from a 24oz can into a standard pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a clear pale gold with a finger wide head of foam that disappeared quickly and left very little lacing.
Smell: Smells like any other AAL. Some grain, corn, and that's really about it.
Taste: Zero bitterness, a lot of malt, corn, and a fair amount of sweetness compared to other beers in this style. Very little after taste, this beer goes down really easy.
Mouthfeel: Very light mouthfeel with a moderate amount of carbonation. Leaves very little trace once swallowed down.
Overall: Probably my favorite maco Mexican beer, which might not be saying much, but it's still decent.

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high white head that quickly died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of corn and grainy malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and has initial flavors of corn (and hints of sweetness) followed by notes of grainy malts and a light amount of hop bitterness.
M: It feels light-bodied (but not really watery) on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink and isn't really that bad when compared to other beers in the style.

I bought this beer at the local market an decidied to try it out.
Appearnace: Pours a crystal clear medium slightly golden yellow and brwon. amll amounts of lacing are observed.
Smell: Light to moderate aromas of t malts, especially corn along with some hops.
Taste: The taste is very bland moderate body of light maltand lots of corn . There is a light bitterness.
Mouthul: Light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation not like america lager beer
Overall. It is pretty bland beer I would choose Corona or Lecate over this beer. It probaby goes good with lty/spicy foods. and hot summer day. Id it was offer to me I would not turn it down!

Appearance - Pours clear and golden with a white, half finger head. Leaves a mostly bare on the surface, with only a ring of bubbles on clinging to the side of the glass. Lacing is spotty
Smell - Definite notes of skunk, while touches of grain and sweetness make up the bulk of what's left.
Taste - Somewhat stale grain upfront, then edges on malt sweetness and a touch of grassy bitterness near the finish.
Mouthfeel - Light to medium body, with a crisp, bone dry finish.
Overall - It's drinkable, but 98% of the beers out there fit that mold. Not something I'd care to purchase, but I wouldn't turn it down if offered. Inoffensive; the kind of beer you drink to catch a buzz. It's certainly not for the enjoyment of great taste.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of skunk, corn, some bready notes and light grassy hops.
Taste: Like the aromas, it has a grainy malts, corn, some breadiness, light grassy hops and some skunkiness.
Mouthfeel: It has a high carbonation with a light and watery overall balance and feel.
Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with bland flavors and aromas. I'd take a Dos Equis over this.

Poured from a 24 oz. can into a dimpled beer mug.
This is the 7th beer in my great American Adjunct lager hunt.
A-Deep gold, looks better than the typcial Adjunct piss yellow color. Poured a 1/2 finger soda water head that fizzled quickly and left a slight white ring around the edges of the beer. No lacing at all. Lower carbonation in the glass.
S-Grain, sweet corn, rice, and a slight skunky smell.
T-For a cheap Mexican-American Adjunct style lager, it actually had some sweet malt character. Of course the dominant tastes were corn and rice. The aftertaste was wet and didn't leave a strong aftertaste, which is what I like in a good brew.
M-Highly carbonated and it did quench my thirst. There was an element of crispness to this, but nothing too special. Quite watery, really.
Overall-I had no expectations when I bought this. It surprised me more than I thought it would. It wasn't spectacular, and in fact, it was quite average. It's just a good way to wash down spicy food.

This beer is to be enjoyed at the pool or on the beach... or maybe just on a hot day. Other than that I dont advise this beer. It is something only to be enjoyed when its a perfect day out. Also i advise drinking it out of the bottle rather than the can, the can for this beer does not do it justice. Especially how the bottle's cap is wrapped in gold paper.

From the 12 fl. oz. can marked K0720039-14:41. Sampled on February 19, 2013
I made some homemade salsa and I just had to crack open a can of Mexican beer. Today it happened to be Modelo Especial. The pour is a nice golden yellow with a fizzy white head the dissolves quickly.
I did use the lime wedge so most of my analysis is tainted. But ignoring the lime I get a corn, pale grainy malts, and a clean hop character.
The body is light and creamy.
The taste has this bready malt forward note with a clean hop finish. It does what it is supposed to do.

Bought with lunch at a local Mexican restaurant...served chilled in a can along with a frosted glass. I started drinking out of the can, and then poured into the glass after the chill left.
A=Very nice, darker golden...very good for the style. Only a bit of a head.
S=I don't remember smelling much, other than a faint whiff of hops...no corn smell.
T=For the style, this is much better than Corona, Bud, and most other BMC's--sturdy maltiness with moderate hopping, and not too sweet. Still a bit less flavorful than, say, Batch 19.
M=Moderate body...perhaps a bit too much carbonation, but not overpowering.
O=For an AAL, it is hard to do much better...would like to see more body and flavor, but a good representation for a session beer...I would like to try on tap.

Poured from bottle into pint glass
Appearance – Poured from bottle as a medium golden color with a one finger white head. The head fades rather fast leaving only a lighter level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma is a mix of corn and some fruity smells. Mixed with these was a skunky smell with a light vegetal aroma.
Taste – The taste begins with flavors of a bread and corn mixed with hints of a caramel sweetness. As the flavor advances further the caramel fades giving rise to more sweet corn flavors. Some citrus flavors and a grassy flavor come to the tongue more at the end, leaving a rather unpleasant mix of flavors on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side in terms of its creaminess with a carbonation level that is a little above average. The thinner body and higher carbonation are quite fitting for the style, making it a rather easy drinking brew.
Overall – I think I would leave this one alone on most occasions.

A: beautiful deep yellow carbonated lager in a clear glass.
S: skunky Mexican beer; beer in a clear bottle with too much light equels skunky. If they shipped it away from the light it might smell better. Or if you like the smell of skunk you'll be pleased.
T: fantastic taste for a Mexican lager, better than most others.
O: it is one of the best Mexican bears, hands down. This is what I prefer when I'm in Cabo.Corona is made at the same brewery but I think it is sub par to this.

Golden body with a fleeting white head. Pretty standard Mexican lager aroma: mildly sulfuric lager yeast, pale malt sweetness, slight DMS. Not much else to it. It's reasonably clean and doesn't offend. Tastes more or less the same. Pretty clean fermentation aside from a bit of DMS. Slightly metallic, with a pale malt sweetness and a touch of sweet corn. Not much bitterness to the finish. Not an offensive beer by any means, and it's good for washing down spicy Mexican food.

thought i would go out of my normal habits(checking beer advocate before buying.) when i created this mix six. clear straw yellow with a head that goes away in a instant. aroma is a blend of corn and malt . taste and mouth feel would seem like a great summer beer due to it crisp flavor and clean finish. next time i am out at a local Mexican restaurant i will have to see it this is on the menu , would love to pair it with a well crafted mexican meal

A: clear, yellowish-copper, almost no head that dissipated by the time I set the can down
S: fruity, but not in a good way... almost like juicy fruit gum, bread, no hop smell
T: starts out with heavy breads malt and finishes with a small amount of bitter, not much else here
M: light, little carbonation, very sessionable
O: not bad for a typical light lager, but too exepensive in america, though it's much cheaper in mexico; it's a good canoe beer (when you flip the canoe over, it's not a huge loss!)

A- Usual adjunct yellow with a massive frothy white head. Leaves slight lacing.
S - Creamed corn, slight apple juice, rice adjunct
T - Creamed corn, rice adjunct, medium amounts of apple juice. Pretty easy drinking for an AAL
M - Heavy carbonation with a medium body. Standard of the type.
O - Not half bad for an Adjunct. I'd have it again for a party

Pours water clear yellow color with a small 1 finger foamy white head that faded very quickly, leaving a layer on top and minimal spotty lacing.
Smells of malt, grains, biscuit, light citrus hops, corn husk and faint caramel. Typical nose for this style and not exciting at all.
Tastes like the nose, with malt, grains, biscuit, light citrus hops, corn husk, lemon zest, grass and faint caramel. The lemon adds some bitterness and makes this tastier than most other Mexican beers.
Mouthfeel is light, crisp and almost watery, with light bubbly carbonation, a very light body body, and a dry finish that has some mild bitterness.
Overall not too exciting, but it’s better than most Mexican beers, and even most lagers for that matter; a very nice low ABV barbeque beer that is refreshing and easy to quaff.

12-oz. bottle into a pint glass at my house on Sept. 30, 2012 (someone left it over here after a party on Sept. 30, 2012). Less than a finger of head, that dissipated right away. Yellow golden pale with white head. Bad retention all-around.
Smelled pretty good for an American Adjunct Lager. Got bread, cereal, grass and a honey sweetness.
Tasted similar to the nose, but not as good. Got a more skunky version of the smell. Bread, cereal, grass, corn, grains, very very very slight lemon hops, finishing with a surprising bitterness.
Light body. Thin texture. Average-to-above average carbonation. Abrupt, watery finish with some slight bitterness.
Not too bad for the type of beer. This was the first I ever had of it, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Not much here to speak of. A medium golden color with little to no carbonation. I poured into a pint glass to review the head. I looked away for 3-5 seconds and the head was gone! Aroma was a light malt. Taste was again a slight malt that left nothing on the palate. The finish was average. Overall, too watered down to give much consideration. Overpriced for the taste and quality. For a summer grilling, I'd get more from a PBR at half the cost.

Aroma: Light struck, of course. Other than the skunk, I get some breadyness, thin malt profile. Sweet mildly bitter grains, corn.
Appearance: Pale yellow. High clarify. Lots of rising bubbles. OK retention. No lacing.
Taste: Better than the aroma. Mild malt sweetness, corn and maybe rice. Some bitter bite at the end.
Mouthfeel: Light body. Pleasantly mild carbonation. Finishes mildly dry.
Overall: I'd take this over Corona any day, but nothing too impressive here.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium slightly golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a half finger tall bright white head that quickly reduces to a very thin film covering the majority of the surface and a very thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light to moderate aromas of adjunct malts, especially corn along with some very light notes of grassy hops.
T: The taste is very similar to the smell with a light to moderate body of light malt flavors and lots of corn (including a steamed corn husk flavor like in tamales). There is a light bitterness.
M: Light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin/watery.
O: This is much better than a lot of the other mass market Mexican beers being sold in the US. I find this beer to be pretty refreshing and matches very well with salty/spicy foods. Very easy to drink, especially on a hot summer day.
