Can for a buck fidy. A code of 02412 is printed, but I'm not sure what that means.

A mostly clear orange amber with a dense, off-white head with decent retention and a little lacing, this looks pretty decent. The nose is quite nice for the style (which, I have to be up front about, is one I don't care for). To me, a lot of maibocks really do smell like liquid bread, and this is no different. Honey, bread, a mild hop character (earth and lemon). A little bit of toffee is also present, as is a little sulfur. Solid.

The palate opens quite smooth with a blend of honey, burnt sugar, a modest hoppy bitterness and some earthy flavors. The burnt sugar note is quite nice, especially the way it complements the honey and sweeter notes - not quite bitter, a little sharp (in the way solvent-y beers are, but this isn't solventy at all). Toast, bread, a mild caramel note and again, the burnt sugar round out the palate. A little spicy as well. The hop level here seems pretty darned good, lending just a little bit of bitterness and flavor. Mildly sweet on the finish with burnt sugar, caramel and a little honey, this beer is medium in body, moderately carbonated and quite smooth on the palate. I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying this. Recommended.

Can poured into a pint glass

This beer pours a deep golden color with a head that disappeared almost instantly. The color of this beer comparable to that of a deep apple juice. The aroma of this brew is sugary sweet with tiny little wisps of hops. I'm not really picking too much else up in the aroma. The taste is very smooth and very sweet. It almost is too sweet and needs another flavor to the profile to be anything special. The beer is basically nothing but sweet. The MF is smooth and medium bodied, due to all of that residual sugar I'm sure, and it goes down very easily.

This beer is very average. Not something I will probably ever buy another case of. It isn't great, but it isn't bad. It is a refreshing and easy to drink beer with no real bold character.
