Pours a hazey amber-gold in color, topped with a frothy off-white head. Good head retention and lacing exhibited right here.

Nose is sweet and malty, with lighter spicy phenols and a fusel element that seems out of place...

On the first sip this one is as sweet and malty as the nose had suggested it would be, and there's a huge, truly massive tongue-coatingly creamy smoothness to it that all but overwhelms my other sense impressions. Sweet and fruit-forward is probably the most succinct way that I can describe the flavors, here: notes of ripe golden apple, pear... nary a trace of bitterness here, though perhaps the last couple of reviews have caused my bitter-detectors to go kittywampus (both were IPAs).

Boozy*, and the fusel notes I picked up in the nose make me wonder a little about the proportion of honey to base malt in this recipe. Of course, this one is not very much like any of the other honey beers I've tried (lager or ale), but I'm not holding it against the mighty Rumspringa GB! I know that this is a lager 'cause the labeling tells me so, but it is manifestly Ale-like.

Smooth and perhaps a little bit -too- easy drinking, to the point that I'd like to have *TWO* of these in succession, but two of these in a row would likely knock me on my CAN, har har!

I'd sure like to try this one again, perhaps in a blind taster against another Helles/Mai/bock. After all, just how many helles bocks do you find in a can nowadays, huh? A big THANK YOU to Woody Chandler for providing me with the opportunity to finally try a beer from the world-famous brewing town of Lancaster!

*I'm sure this one is 7%+ -- the yeast got away from ya, folks!

Can poured into a pint glass

This beer pours a deep golden color with a head that disappeared almost instantly. The color of this beer comparable to that of a deep apple juice. The aroma of this brew is sugary sweet with tiny little wisps of hops. I'm not really picking too much else up in the aroma. The taste is very smooth and very sweet. It almost is too sweet and needs another flavor to the profile to be anything special. The beer is basically nothing but sweet. The MF is smooth and medium bodied, due to all of that residual sugar I'm sure, and it goes down very easily.

This beer is very average. Not something I will probably ever buy another case of. It isn't great, but it isn't bad. It is a refreshing and easy to drink beer with no real bold character.
