Appearance: pinkish brown, medium head, medium carbonation

Smell: some cherry, wheat, malt, and currants

Taste: wheat, cherries, and some banana..almost like drinking a yoplait cherry banana yogurt

Mouthfeel: smooth, slightly crisp, sweetness on the aftertaste

Drinkability: Not a bad beer, but nothing great either...Kinda the beer equivalent of a flavored yogurt..I could have two or three, but could just as easily pop a Leinenkugel and be as happy

I think this beer got a bad rep on the BA reviews. It actually surprised me; I was expecting cherry juice and got a nice, hearty ale. The taste of barley is strong with a hint of cherries. The aroma presents a stronger presence of cherry, with the promise of something sweet and sour. The color is a rosy brown with a light, foamy head, no pink anywhere to be found.
All in all, a great beer, light mouthfeel, good for everyday drinking.

I got this as part of an assorted eight pack. While I at least mildly enjoyed the other seven beers Lakefront had to offer, this Cherry Lager was the worst beer I've ever had.

It tasted just like cough syrup. It was dreadful. And the worst thing about it is that it progressively got worse and worse, leaving the most horrific aftertaste I have ever experienced.

Tried June 21, 2008 12 oz.

Reviewing bottle here, but also had on tap. Pretty similar experience minus the Lakefront Polka Dancing.

Beer has large swirly foamy pink head and the beer, though amber, has a distnct pink hue, clear and bubbly. Initial aroma is like cherry cordials then becomes more like cherry pits. Flavor is like tart cherry juice mixed with a dry lager - and a pinch of cinnamon. Just barely bitter finish. Medium body with a foamy mouthfeel.

good beer, but I think the amazing New Glarus has ruined me for all other Cherry Beer experiences.

A- Reddish brown color, semi-clear, thin white head that lowered quickly to a thin ring

S- Cherries, toasted malts, yeast, slight metallic smell

T- Sweet cherries, spices, herbal, bready, caramel malts

M- Medium body, medium carbonation, smooth, tart, sweet, lingering aftertaste

D- Definitely worth trying

I give this brew some credit for being different. Light smooth cherry flavor that doesn't taste like it came from syrup.

Pours clear pale copper. Head is initially a white and spritzy, but dissipates quickly.

Aroma is on the sweet side. Metallic, with a bit of bready yeast.

Taste is biscuit malt, sweet but not cloying. Earthy hops bring spicy bitterness that melds into a dry tart finish. Subdued cherry lingers in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied.

I found this to be rather uninspiring. It's not terrible, Just bland.

Poured a reddish amber color with a light pink head, almost no retention and zero lacing.

The smell has a bit of toasted malt with a light tart cherry.

Has a very typical average amber ale flavor with decent toasted bready caramel malts with just a very light sour cherry flavor. Almost no hops to speak of.

The mouthfeel is light with decent carbonation.

Very average beer. Makes an acceptable amber, but I think if you are going to make a cherry beer I think it should be a bit more committed to the cherry.

The beer pours a cherry red color with a thick frothy offwhite head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a basic lager aroma comprised of pilsner malts and light German hops. It also has a tart, earthy cherry aroma that speaks of real fruit, not extract. The taste is decent as well. It has a very nice lager feel with a sour cherry finish. The fruit adds some off flavors, but again this is real fruit not an extract. I applaud the use of real "local" fruit instead of extract. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a low bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a pretty good fruit beer. Is it New Glarus Raspberry Tart? No, but it's quite drinkable anyway.

A-Pours reddish-amber w/slightly off-white (maybe a little pink) head. Head is unimpressive, but does exhibit nice retention.
S-Sour cherry, flinty minerals, hint of sulfur.
T-Mild flavored lager w/light sour cherry. It's on the tarter side, and the rest of the flavors are rather subtle. The aftertaste is slightly unpleasant--weak cherry with near-absent hops, and minerals. Malt is very weak.
M-Balance is a little off, but the body is light and refreshing with the moderate carbonation. I don't care for this brew, but it drinks smoothly.
D-Not my cup of beer. Still, this could be a palatable session brew in the summer for people who like this sort of thing.

This beer pours a hazy amber color with some red hues. A large two finger off white head forms on top and lingers with decent retention.

Aroma is ok, but not anything outstanding. Some tart cherry aroma as well as some pale malts are evident in this brew.

Taste is ok. Kind of iced tea like. Some mild cherry is available, and it gives way to a bit of caramel. Not a whole lot going on.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with plenty of carbonation.

Drinkability is moderate. Easily sessionable, but flavors are not that great. I could drink it again, but certainly wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Good beer.

Great taste of cherries all the way through. Not tart or bland, just right. Cherry flavor and a solid lager. The mouthfeel is a little carbonated and the aftertaste was a little funky. Great beer for any season, I recommend it. Nice and light, very refreshing.

Purchased as part of "build-your-own-six-pack" at local grocer. Poured a thick foamy head on a solid red body. Cherry, of course, but not overly so, and a lager-ish "bite". Taste is standard lager to start, with the cherry coming through in the middle. Cherry seems very nicely balanced, not overpowering. Unfortunately, there is an absolutely horrendous dusty finish, which lingers in the mouth. The dustiness is the worst I've ever experienced, incredibly bad, which is a bummer, as it seems like they got the fruit part right on. May have to try another, see if that dustiness was a fluke.

Pours with a pink , red color , a slight copper tint on the edges.
A tight , short , thick head that has a pink hue to it. Head seems to hang around a long time.
a lot of carbonation .

A sweet , fruit aroma arises right away after pour , You can tell this is a cherry lager . Cherry hits the nose right away and lasts for the duration of the drink.

Taste is what you would expect after the smell. Lots of sweet cherry . Some bitterness in the background but not a whole lot.
Very easy to put a few of theses down the hatch.

A good beer for a fruit lager.

Pours amber with red highlights. Small head reduced to thin lace.
The aroma is malts with a hint of cherry and not much else.
The taste starts off cherry sweet with sour and malt notes.
the feel is smooth with mild bitterness in the finish. Medium carbonation with good balance.

Notes: A decent fruit beer. I do not see myself buying it,but it was o.k. despite the sour flavor.

12 oz bottle poured into a Sam Adams glass.

Initially, a very dense and rocky layer of foam rises up from the rose-tinted beer. It retains for quite some time too, I left for five minutes and when I came back it was still very foamy. The aroma smells very faintly of cherries with even less malt. Upfront there is a very slight cherry flavor with a watered-down malt flavor shortly thereafter. Tastes like a fruit roll-up; which isn't bad, if that's your thing. Light body, medium carbonation.

A bit surprised to see this beer scored this low. I am not a lager fan in general but this one is quite nice IMHO.

A-Slightly hazy copper hue with a medium fluffy, pinkish white head. Retains head and leaves nice lacing.

S-Nothing intense, as expected, but a hint of cherries and sweet malt.

T-Nice combination of lightly sweet malt and the undertones of sour cherries. Nothing overpower but this is a lager not a lambic...I wouldn't expect anything more. Light and pleasant for those dog days of summer.

M-Medium-light with a bit of tartness and good crispness.

D-Very easy to drink. This lightly fruited and nicely flavoured lager is a summertime treat to me. This is about as good as I could expect a lanwmower brew to be. Nicely done Lakefront!

No idea where I got this bottle from. 1987-2007, 20th on the cap. Pours a solid 3 finger lightly redish head over a brilliant maraschino cherry redded light bronze liquid. Many streamers rushing to the top. Smells rich fresh cherry flesh. DMS is strong in the form of creamed corn. I wonder if this is cherry skins, rather than an off DMS aroma. Essentially no woody pit character.

Tastes cherry flavor with strong carbonation cleaning the palette and some cherry persisting into the finish. Fresh cherry flesh, like I eat at the cherry festival in Traverse City on July 4th. Just a subtle dash of sour amid the cherry flavor. Honestly, it feels like the flavor is missing something. One-dimensional and lacks a supporting late flavor character.

Md thick mouthfeel. Thicker than I would have expected, based on the head-carbonation. But I swirled to releive some of the gas. Drinkablility is 'meh' at best.

12oz brown bottle from The Lighthouse in Manchester as part of this brewery's sampler 8-pack. Pours a hazy reddish amber with virtually no head to speak of. Smells mostly of sour cherries. Tastes like sour cherries too, though slightly sweet. Somewhat viscous in mouthfeel, though medium-bodied. More tart than expected... Not the most drinkable beer certainly... Kind of medicinal. Definitely would take a pass on this one next time...

A - Poured out a pumpkin-like orange with hints of red. As the beer poured from the bottle it looked like a blush wine. It has a small, bubbly white head that left some lace.

S - It smelled a little like marachino (sp?) cherries.

T - Each sip started sweet then had a tart bite and the end. Cherry is the dominant flavor with some malt.

M - It was crisp and smooth. A light-bodied beer.

D - This tasted okay for a fruity beer.

Pours a golden red color with a tight light pink head that settled into a light cap. The aroma is remarkably light for a fruit beer, can't really pick up the cherries, just a general tart fruitiness. The taste is definitely of cherries, which starts out sweet then converts to tart. The fruit taste is supported by a buttery bready malt. Kind of has a diet Cherry fruit drink taste going on, which is ok since it is not cloying. The feel is light with fairly soft carbonation, finishes slight tart. A decent fruit brew. It doesn't appear any artifical flavors were added. Easier to drink than the SA Cherry Wheat.

poured from 12oz to a tulip glass
pours an amazing melon shade, the cherry is very apparent in shade, like taking a a lager and adding a dash of cherry red to it - ending up in a beautiful color indeed.

smells of a wheat beer with a sour aspect, heavy wheat, not lager-y to me really at all.

tastes sour and funky like a golden belgian with something bitter, cherry is not really apparent. Almost tastes astringent from the yeast, which wasn't too appealing in the sense of a belgian for me. very strange and complex, this makes me love tasting fruit beers, the oddities associated with them.

good mouthfeel, creamy, and sour probably from the cherries

overall drinkablity in my book is low, not something i would really buy again, but i'm glad i've tried it once.

Appearance
Solid 3 finger foamy/bubbly head. Color was white with a slight hint of pink. Amber orange body with slight haze.

Smell
Grain malts and cherries. Minimal hop presence. Rather straightforward but pleasant.

Taste
Cherries are definitely present but not overpowering. Orange zest in the background. The fruit works nicely with the grain malts. Still there isn't much complexity.

Mouthfeel
Moderate to light carbonation throughout. Could use a bit more to aid in the crispness. Lighter body probably assists with the flavors not overwhelming the palate.

Drinkability
A nice lighter beer. Highly refreshing and doesn't overwhelm the palate. Don't expect any revelations while drinking this beer though as the complexity just isn't there. It's a well done lager with cherries thrown in and not much else.

Appearance: Pours a clearish, orangey body with a small, white head.

Smell: What we have here in a basic lager with some sour-scented cherries tossed it. It's kinda light on the cherry, but we've got a long way to go!

Taste: More of that oh-so basic lager. Sippy cup filled with sourish cherry juice. Mild sweetness. Hint of ground aspirin. It's a cherry pits finish, folks.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: If you're looking a light lager and have a hankering for cherries, then this might just do it for you. I found it to be rather average, but, BUT at least it wasn't questionably sweet or obviously "fake" tasting.

This beer pours a hazy cherry res color. The head is massive, and light pink in color. The aroma is of bready malt with a hint of cherry tartness. The taste has a lot more cherry to it that the aroma, but it lacks any sort of complexity. The mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with a high level of carbonation. Overall, this is a decent, yet boring beer. I wouldn't throw a fit if I had to drink this again, but I wouldn't be the one buying it.
