By taking hops directly from the field to the brewery, we preserve the original flavor, some of which is lost in the usual drying process. The result is an incredibly fresh hop taste and aroma balanced with our Wisconsin-grown malted barley, giving this unfiltered lager its hearty body and hazy straw color.

A - It poured pale golden yellow with a think white head that dissipated fairly quickly
S - Very clean and crisp. Pale malt leads the charge with a slightly grassy hop profile coming in right behind it.
T - Again, it's very clean and crisp, as you might expect. There is a slightly bready and sweet pale malt backbone which is complimented well by a pleasant and grassy hop presence.
M - Medium bodied and crisp
O - This is a great imperial pilsner! It's easy drinking and brings just enough hops into the picture to keep things interesting. This is definitely one of the best beers I've had from Lakefront.

Yellow pour, not the highest amount of clarity but a full on inch of white head. Aroma was like a shandy moreso than a straight beer. The aroma was a huge letdown, one of the weakest hopped 'fresh' hop beers I've ever had.
Taste again was missing the hops, much less the fresh green hops. Even with a very light pilsner malt, the hops just couldn't come through. Nothing else is really a problem, just the ever absent hops and lemon flavors/smells in their place instead.

Serving: On tap, 6oz sampler from brewery tour
Served: 3 Jan 2014
Appearance: Golden yellow with a pure white head that collapses pretty quickly, yielding just a ring of white foam around the beer.
Smell: Not as hoppy on the nose as I would expect from a wet-hopped beer.
Taste: Pretty good imperial pilsener. You can certainly tell this is a lager from the crisp, dry taste here. Bready malt backbone with an overlay of hops. Tasty.
Mouthfeel: Prickly carbonation seems to die off rather quickly. The carbonation initially emphasized the dryness of the taste.
Overall: A good, hoppy lager. One needs to keep in mind that this is a lager when drinking so it's going to have a different taste than wet-hopped pale ales also popular in fall/winter.

A: A normal pour into a NG Pilsner glass created a nice two finger head made of mixed sized bubbles and bright white in color. Foam retention is great, as it receded it left spider web looking lacing on the edge of the glass. The beer is a light copper to darker blond color with just a touch of haze.
S: Light aroma overall. Slight grassy and noble scented hop notes on top of a bready malt character. I'm also getting lemon and a slight soapy character.
T: Moderate and round grassy tasting bitterness on the first sip. It's followed by the bready, slightly toasty pilsner malt flavors combined with a hint of alcohol. The lemon vibe I was getting in the nose is also coming through in the flavor but I'm only noticing it in the aftertaste. The flavor that sets this apart from a normal pilsner would be the more grassy hop character throughout the beer.
M: A touch of alcohol warming with moderate carbonation levels. The beer feels dry but it has a decent body to carry the alcohol level.
O: An interesting take on a trad pilsner. I'm a fan of the style and of wet hop beers, but this one was kind of disapointing. Maybe an American style pilsner or an IPL with the wet hops would be more up my ally.

22 oz bottle served in a snifter.
Pours a slightly hazy apricot-amber with a modest, bubbly head that has limited retention.
Grassy-floral-bready-citrusy aroma.
The wet-hop flavor comes through loud and clear, although not everyone will think this is a good thing. In any case, the flavor is quite herbal and vegetative compared to a typical pilsner or PA, and not as sharp or crisp. There’s a foreboding bitterness mid-taste that fades to a moderate-mild level by the finish rather than increasing as expected. Lasting hoppy aftertaste with hints of grapefruit peel, grass and citrus fruit.
Feel: full and smooth for style.
O: An imperial pilsner for hop heads. I was glad to have the chance to try this special beer but not eager to make it a regular.

poured 22 oz. bottle into snifter. Bottled on 10/3/13
A - Dark apricot with a 2 finger white head. Great retention and loads of lacing line the glass.
S - Sweet malts or caramel and cereal. Plenty of fresh, green hop scents that are floral and earthy. Not much for a citrus or pine aroma.
T - Starts off with sweet malts or caramel, cereal, and cracker. Moves into the fresh , green hops. A bitterness comes in, but is not distinct. This has a wonderful flavor and excellent balance.
M - Light to medium-bodied, smooth and nice carbonation, some lingering bitterness.
O - This may be one of LFB's best beers. I really like the wet hops added to the Pilsener malts. I'm going to get another bottle of this since I enjoyed it so much.
