Look: Flush blonde pour with visible carbonation and a nice cloudy appearance.

Smell: Not very strong strong. Nice and floral when you really dig in. Smells lightly of foliage, grains, and orange peel.

Taste: Very pleasant and palatable. The fruity and floral taste overrides the very light bitterness. I was surprised to read that the ABV is as high as it is (it doesn't taste it).

Mouthfeel: Much fuller and thicker than other pilsners I've had. Very nice for a "lighter" style of lager.

Overall: One of my favorites from Lakefront. I think this beer is what would happen if somebody tried to make one of the beers Milwaukee is famous for using high quality ingredients instead of adjuncts.

22 oz. bomber,

A: Pours a light amber with a medium frothy white head, good head retention, spotty lace.

S: Sweet caramel, almost a Munich malt type feel, with grapefruit and lawn clippings.

T: Heavy bitterness on the front end, earthy and floral. The malt catches up with a nice balance to finish the beer. Never extremely hoppy, yet a nice flavour overall.

M: Light to medium-bodied, frothy creamy carbonation, moderate aftertaste for the style.

O: A well done lager, a more balanced Impy pils than I've seen in the past. Nice new bomber find.

22 oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

A. a light amber color with a thick lumpy head which is just a little off white. It sticks around and leaves some lacing on the glass.

S. It smells of light fruit and you can catch the hops coming through.

T. The flavor is some what muted with some light malt flavor and a finish with some bitterness from the hops. That being said Its very easy drinking and alcohol is well hidden.

M It has a light body with some carbonation.

O. This looks great and has some great hop flavor. One of the more interesting beers ive had from lakefront.

I've never seen the normal Local Acre around here, but I saw the wet hop variation at Whole Foods yesterday and had to pick it up. Local Acre Wisconsin Wet Hop ours a hazy straw color with three fingers of head that drop down leaving some decent lacing. The aroma is a bit weak, but offers up nice grassy/floral hops over some pilsner malt. The taste brings those tastes to the forefront, over some relatively subtle pilsner malt for a double pils. The mouthfeel is light and slightly oily, and the drinkability is solid. Overall, a solid twist on the fresh hop beer.

22 oz bottle
Poured into my New Glarus pilsener glass

A - Billowing three fingers of white head fades to a thin cap fairly quickly. Color is more towards the orange side of straw, good clarity

S - Bready malt, lemon, fresh clover and honeysuckle. Really inviting floral notes.

T - Toasted bread and caramel up front with some more of the floral tones. Finishes dry, somewhat grassy with just a bit of citrus. Excellent balance.

M - Well carbonated, fairly light bodied. A touch coarse at the finish with some lingering hop oiliness

O - Not radically different from the normal version, but I like the normal version a lot. Just a well balanced beer, the floral and citrus notes in the nose get turned up here and I like it even more.

22 oz bottle poured into a Lakefront imperial pint.
7.0% ABV, no date.

A - The bright golden-colored beer pours faintly hazy and is topped by a long-standing off-white head. Fantastic, thick sheets of lace coat the glass in one hell of an attractive manner as the bubbles slowly crawl down.

S - Wet-hopped Local Acre flourishes with a fresh, clean aroma of floral, lightly citrusy hops falling gently over a soft pilsner malt backbone. Herbal and mineral notes fall into place nicely along the finish for a very well done crisp and clean nose with a fresh hop addition.

T - The sweet pils malts pushes forward past the hoppiness up front with some thick-sliced, warm baguette breadiness but the hop addition remains nicely done. Citrus and light pine trail behind but bring when them a "green" chlorophyll flavor from the freshness of the hops.

M - Medium-full bodied, this Imperial Pilsner is big in feel, coating the tongue with a crisp, slick feel and nicely balanced finish which relies on the hops' bitterness, which lingers briefly, to counteract the strong malt sweetness.

O - Lakefront expands on the "normal" version of this beer, Local Acre, dumping in fresh Wisconsin wet hops to create, well, Wisconsin Wet Hop, a unique result. Some "green" characteristics of the fresh hops emerge but quality traits of the hops do well to elevate the beer into a dangerously drinkable pilsner. And you can go wrong with it's $5 price tag either!

Reviewed from tasting notes.

Golden-yellowish in color with a persistent two finger head and some medium levels of lacing on the glass. Smells very floral and grassy...'green' and tea-like in hop character is the best way I can think of to describe the aroma. Flavor has all of the elements described from the nose, but also including medium amounts of green peppercorns and a light citrus/pine garnish on top of the semi-dry pilsner malt. Alcohol content is hidden very well on this one. Medium thickness and plenty of crisp sparkling carbonation to keep things moving around. Very fresh and clean in feel. This one is certainly worth trying.

A - A slightly haze to a golden yellow body. The head is a monster in a cloak of eggshell white. It stands a couple inches tall, it's frothy and offers some decent lacing.

S - It certainly has a lightly toasted malt aroma. The hoppy edge is very well balanced with the malt. Based on the scent there is no way I would pass on this beverage.

T - The flavor is on the mediocre side in my opinion. The hops are bland and the malts seem to have diminished. I'm rather disappointed based on the appearance and aroma.

M - Mildly abrasive with a watery feel throughout and then finishing moderately dry. Well done in the feel folks.

~ I have to admit the flavor did wear on me a bit after a half pint or so. That being said, I'm still a bit unconvinced on the beer as a whole simply because of the flavor.

This lager pours brilliantly clear golden color with a moderate white head that leaves nice rings of lace all the way down the glass. A good looking Pils. The aroma is moderately malty, grainy and sweet, spicy and floral hops also are rather evident. Solid. The flavor is a 100% American version (ingredient-wise) of a German pilsner. Upfront bready, sweet, grainy malts that are quickly whisked away by moderate hop bitterness and spicy hop flavor that pleasantly lingers into the slightly dry finish. The body is medium and carbonation medium-high. Overall a really well designed and executed Pilsner. One of Lakefront's best offerings.

Pours out a dull golden yellow, nice pillowy white head in the neighborhood of 1" deep. Aroma was too lemony and sour, more akin to a weak lambic than a wet hopped beer. Maybe I'm just used to everything that is wet hopped is a hop blast ipa or bigger style beer for the most part, but I was disappointed by the hop quotient, or lack thereof.

Taste, again, where's the wet hops. Now, I drank this at the end of November. So I would give it some credit if it was merely a hoppy sweeter beer that had turned a few months after the hop harvest this year. And I understand it traveled. But I've had plenty of Lakefront at the brewery and 2000 miles away, and the beer is capable of being good, but ultimatley, the hops were just largely absent, much less not being "fresh". The fact the beer is classified technically as a pilsner got me thinking the hops should be able to stand out even more.

Overall the other qualities of the beer are consistent and pretty much average. Nice slight toasting to what at times tastes like Vienna malt. Anyways, can't call a beer wet hop if you can't even taste the hops, much less the wet, or fresh, etc. . .

A - It poured pale golden yellow with a think white head that dissipated fairly quickly

S - Very clean and crisp. Pale malt leads the charge with a slightly grassy hop profile coming in right behind it.

T - Again, it's very clean and crisp, as you might expect. There is a slightly bready and sweet pale malt backbone which is complimented well by a pleasant and grassy hop presence.

M - Medium bodied and crisp

O - This is a great imperial pilsner! It's easy drinking and brings just enough hops into the picture to keep things interesting. This is definitely one of the best beers I've had from Lakefront.

Bright golden corn yellow. Nice creamy bone-white head.

Pumped full of esters. Bananas.Bready fruity, grassy and floral. Soapy noble hops.

Cracker barrel malt. Grain, citrus, especially lemon. Kind of a weird and should I say off-putting finish. What can I say I love the aroma but I am not too fond of the finish.

Light to medium body with some acidity and warming qualities.

Good exhibition of almost noble Wisconsin hops. The flavor could use some reworking to create a really great American Pilsner.
