poured into tulip glass from 12oz
poured a golden hazy amber, good head structure, foamy
smell of orange peel, honey, maltiness
tasted crisp and refreshing, sweeter hop action than most ipa's. Bitter yet almost creamy, finishing with honey-like sweetness. The malts play in nice smoothing around the hops and sweetness blending together everything. A great IPA
mouthfeel was very easy to drink, but still providing an interesting flavor experience - yum
overall drinkability is very high, if it weren't nay impossible to find around my area, it would be an ipa i would pick up a sixer of here and there,, but i managed to find in grand rapids.. sigh
try this ipa, you probably won't be disappointed.

Thanks to Jordan first for giving me a bottle of this a week ago when I was at Bella Vista [Lakefront's PA wholesaler for the Philly area]. I cracked it open immediately, at room temperature and devored it immediately. I liked it so much, two days later I bought a case.
This IPA is a darkish gold/amber color with a small white head poured into a pint glass. It smells fresh, and earthy. Impressive subtlety with presenting and maintaining the hop bitterness throughout the length of the pint. The hops taste earthy, greens, plantlike along with some citrus and traditional pine flavors. The alcohol gave me a pleasant buzz. This is a very drinkable IPA and was a hit with everybody I shared it with.
I met Orlando who is affiliated with the brewery, at the Philly Craft Beer Fest and he is a very nice guy. Good work Lakefront.

Picked this up today in Minnesota as i have yet to come across it in NW WI. Go figure!
A great looking IPA, deep amber in hue, capped by a nice tight, almost whipped off white head. Nice retention, and can already tell that there will be nice sticky lacings. And there they are...
Nice hop aroma, big dose of grapefruit and pine overtop of bready malts with a touch of toasted biscuit. A slight metallic twang is also present, and detracts slightly from the overall aroma.
Taste much like the nose, although the toasted biscuit character stands up a little more in the tasting compared to the aroma. Very nice ruby red grapefruit character with some piney resinous character. Very well done.
A surprisingly good example of the american IPA. Almost medium bodied, slightly creamy in feel, hops manage to overwhelm tasty malts. Somewhat astringent, yet some honey like malt sweetness also present to mellow out the mildly resinous hops. Mildly and quite finely carbonated.
A pleasant surprise. Certainly drinkable, and is a solid IPA. Will be picking more up at some point this summer. Well worth trying for fans of hoppy brews.

Before being released by Lakefront, my friend reports this brew was the exclusive house IPA at Comet Cafe - Mangy Rabbit.
Enjoyed on-tap at Meglio Pizzeria. (Corner of Humboldt Ave. and Water St.)
Pours a copper amber with a one finger head and moderate carbonation. Spotty lacing.
Spicy, pine aroma with sweet malted undertones. Essences of caramel and spruce.
Hops aplenty. Pine upfront followed by toasted biscuit. Finishes with a dry, hoppy bitterness that hits the back of the tongue.
Extremely drinkable: one of the most sessionable IPAs I've had to date. Borderline poundable in a good way. Especially after playing 90 minutes of pick-up hockey.
Pairs well with a Canadian bacon, mushroom, black olive and tomato pizza. That and watching the Brewers best the Mets by a deuce.
Congrats to Lakefront on a hoppy, well-balanced IPA offering.

12 oz bottle poured into a tulip. pours a rich amber color with a couple fingers of light orangish head that remains for the duration of consumption. the brew is semi-hazy and leaves moderate lacings.
aroma is hoppy, with a notable coniferous character and a grassy base. not much on the malt side in the aroma, but a touch of fruit is present in the background.
taste is full of hops, with a tinge of a caramel malt up front, and the same coniferous character throughout. a distant note of apple and white grape is present as well, giving the brew a solid profile. finishes with residual bittering hops.
mouthfeel is medium bodied with a smooth texture and a moderate bite from CO2. finishes dry with a bitter aftertaste. a great IPA in mouthfeel.
drinkability is great. this is a smooth IPA with a great hop character. a solid profile and great proportioning makes this a notable IPA.

12oz bottle from The Lighthouse in Manchester. Pours a hazy/murky golden-orange body with a good inch of off-white head that leaves a fair bit of lacing as it dissipates. Smells grapefruity, pithy, and piney. Tastes orangey, grapefruity, and pithy. Slight hint at malt toward the finish. Medium to full bodied with a generous amount of carbonation. Pretty drinkable. A solid IPA and definitely a good one for those who like citrusy hops.

A: Dark golden-amber with a nice puffy off-white head... a bit of lacing is left behind...
S: Nice floral hop character punches you in the face to start.. mellows out to a more earthy hop aroma towards the end.
T: The different hop aromas manifest themselves in a playful way in the taste... balanced by a nice malt background... just a hint of bitterness in the finish
M: Refreshing. Crisp. Clean. Moderate Carbonation on the tongue.
D: A good showing... Will definitely drink again. Just gotta find it out this way!!

A new beer for this area, and a wonderful example of an IPA. I really liked this beer. Poured into a pint glass it was a clear golden color with a thick white sticky head. It had an earthy aroma, mostly pine but also some citrus. The citrus came through more in the taste, and the pine was also there. Not a hop bomb, but a more subtle flavor that lingered quite well. Definitely want more of these.

New brewer and beer for my area. Picked up a six pack. Poured a golden color with a huge big bubbled head and lacing that coated the inside of my glass. Very strong nose of citrus hops, with a background of flowers and pine. Rich and fairly high carbonated mouthfeel, and quite refreshing on the tongue. The flavor is dominated by the citrus hops, Dry and bitter finish rounds out what I consider to be a very nice IPA.

I enjoyed this beer on-tap at a newer establishment on the East Side.
Appearance: Cloudy yellow with a thick head.
Smell: Smelled of pines and quite spicy.
Taste: Just as the smell suggests and got better the warmer it got. It was too cold at first to let all the flavors come through, but it definitely got better as I worked my way through my glass. Just enough bitterness in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied and smooth.
Drinkability: Another fine job by Lakefront. I was disappointed with the anniversary ale, so I was happy this new ale came out as well as it did. I will definitely seek this one out again.

A- Slightly hazy yellow, solid two finger head which stayed around and left some nice lacing.
S- Strong spicy hop aroma with just a touch of sweetness.
T- Nicely balanced, while still letting the hops do thier part for the style. Good mellow hop twang in the finish.
M- Pretty spot on.
D- This is one of the few IPA's that I could session.
A wonderfully balnced IPA, altough its not the IBU delivery device that some might expect. This would be a fine introdution to the style before rolling out a 90min or Two Hearted.

Poured from a slightly chilled bottle into a clean pint glass.
It poured heady with a solid three finger off white head. The head quickly receded about two fingers back down,
leaving nice stickly lacing to the sides of the glass. It was moderately active and deep amber in color.
The beverage gave off a vibrant floral and pine scent that was slightly mouth watering. A slight hint of bitterness was evident.
It was medium bodied. It first moved very fluidly, then foamed up as the last bit of the mouthful was swallowed.
The floral and pine scents were evident in the taste as well. The pine taste was a bit more bitter than how it smelled. It had a moderate dry hoppy finish.
I find that this beverage is pretty much just how I like my IPA's. I find it very drinkable and it will probably become my IPA of choice due to it's qualities and status as closest brewed IPA.

What did Mr Rodgers say- " i like to take my time and do it right?" I guess the same can be said for Lakefront. The Mangey Rabbit not only escapes the Comet's path but goes national.
So my friends, my hometown craft beer nirvana does it again- well and this time can I say well-balanced, very well-balanced hops. the popularity of the mangey rabbit from the local comet cafe convinced Lakefront to introduce this beer into its regular lineup. Still amazing to me that I drink it again at the G-lodge in my now hometown of Philly.
Very balanced beer. the hops have strong presence through out start on the front of the palate and have that lingering finish, but how mellow, long smooth burn with a nice balance of sweet malt makes for great mouthfeet and makes me clamor for more. The ultimate session beer for moi. great job lakefront on another fine product. all the success to you as you conquer new 'east coast' horizons. you can bet i'll buy some cases to enjoy.
other notes- nice caramal color and excellent glass lacing and head retention. fresh beer poured on clean lines. What type of hops Russ? columbus and? Abv I guess to be about 6. great, very enjoyable beer.

Well, late to the ball is better than not showing up at all. Lakefront Brewery of Milwaukee, Wisconsin has finally ponied up a respectable hoppy IPA we all new they were capable of. Deep amber colored with a bit of cloudiness. The thick white lacing sticks around for a while, and is foamy & inviting. Rich pine resin & mild citrus notes hold the ample and well-balanced malts in check. This brew connects on the ideal blend of hops and malt. If Bell's Two Hearted had a love child with Dale's Pale Ale by Oskar Blues, it would be this IPA. Not as aggressive as the Dogfish 90 or Lagunitas Maximus, but no slouch. This is a VERY welcome release, and gets Lakefront admission to the Hophead Ball!

Had on draft at the Frisco Grille, Columbia, MD.
Beer poured a deep amber, clear, with a decent white head. Smelled very citrusy and spicy, loaded with floral hops. Very well balanced, piney, citrusy and hoppy. Very smooth on the tongue, medium body. Very drinkable, ranks up there with other great American IPAs.
