Orange-amber, nice head, pretty good lacing.
Pine and citrus predominant smells.
Pine notes predominate, a bit of citrus rind, and a decent malt backbone.
Medium-creamy mouthfeel and carbonation.
Middle-upper end IPA, certainly satisfying, but nothing particular stood out for me.

Enjoyed this fine beverage on tap, while out or some wings. Arrived at my table in a standard pint glass.
A) A nice looking lighter amber, with decent clarity. There was nearly a finger of wispy white head that settled quickly to a dusting that was well maintained. Not much lacing to talk about.
S) The nose is pine, light grass, flower petal, citrus and a hint of tropical fruits. Nice...
T) Follows the nose well. While nothing jumps out at me in particular about the malt presence, I found excellent harmony in the balance. Never overly bitter. Nice piney/grassy flavors, along with the citrus fruit. Good aftertaste, that never gets to zesty.
M) A medium body with about same in regards to the carbonation. This one is smooth and easy drinking. As indicated above, nice aftertaste. No one likes off tastes lingering about, and sticking to their palate. Well done...
O) Just a real solid offering right here. While it's not likely to blow you away, it's also not likely to disappoint. Glad to recommend.
Paired with buffalo wings and misbehaving children.

Their flagship IPA, on tap at the brewery.Very good c-hop aroma. Very hoppy, a good IPA. A little sprucey certainly helps, so drinkable but not complex. Lacey beer, though golden body lacking much of a head. A must have if you are trying their beers.

This is just an excellent IPA. Poured a nice orange color - slightly cloudy. Strong citrus taste, with hints of both grapefruit and orange. Very drinkable, with very little bitter aftertaste. Excellent citrus aroma. For a standard IPA with lower ABV, this is just a very tasty beer.

I've enjoyed this beer on tap many times, so I thought it was high time I critiqued it. Poured a somewhat hazy medium amber or copper with little noticeable effervescence and about a 1/4 inch off-white, foamy head that proved to have nice life and cling. The nose is one of my favorite things about this beer: very strong grapefruit, pine, and herbal notes with almost no malt coming through. Somewhat surprisingly, the malts are what seem to hit my palate first--along with a deep herbal richness of the hops--and this is followed quickly by a strong pine hop presence. More subdued grapefruit rind is there, but not nearly as recognizable as the pine. The aftertaste is a combination of relatively mild hop bitterness, malt, and some lingering (and not quite as palatable) alcohol and iron flavor. The mouthfeel is zesty, moderately acidic, and clean-finishing.
A very solid IPA from every angle. It has a great nose, but the taste doesn't quite meet the expectation created there. IPA buffs will enjoy all the hop flavors that are highlighted with real command by the brewers at Lakefront. And, incidentally, I've found this to be one the best beers to drink when consuming a Wisconsin beer-battered fish fry.

A- dark hazy straw. Rather cloudy gold. Looks more like a weizen. Not much lacing and a straight white baby head.
S- pretty muted. Light yeast aroma first with a little malt. Surprisingly I get just a hint of grassy hops on the back end.
T- bitter right away with a big yeast character for an ipa. Explains the hazyness. A little toffee sweet malt and honey in the middle followed by some kind of grassy, herbal, slightly citrusy hops. Ends with more yeast, bready flavor. Not sure if i'd call this an american or english ipa since there isn't much rich maltyness or pungent hops present.
M- Medium to light bodied. Appropriately carbonated with enough bubbles to open up the aroma a little.
O- Not bad. Not sure if i'd reach for it on account of its over the top yeast character, but it was an approachable ipa. I would recommend this slightly bitter, wisconsin version of an inoffensive IPA to a friend new to craft beer, but i'll stick with a two hearted if i want a good IPA from the midwest.

Got this on-tap from the brewery itself. The following is from my notes taken while at the brewery.
Appearance: Hazy yellow with a thick unrelenting head.
Smell: Fresh, citrus and grapefruit hops. Sells a lot like cascade hops.
Taste: Honey malts enveloped by sharp, citrus/grapefruit hops. It seems like Lakefront only used one type of hops in this brew.
This is one of the best IPAs I've had in a while. This may be due to how fresh it is.

lakefront ipa
a 4 cloudy golden apricot biege amber, lots of particulates. respectable head drops to a ring and leaves helter skelter lacework.
s 4-4.5 tropical fruit, mainly pineapple; crackers. some pine as well.
t 3.5-4 very well balanced, more bitterness than i recalled--not the roll over and die sort of ipa that i remembered. it's no bitter bomb either. nice and friendly with a restrained sweetness and mild citrus flavors, cleaning up with moderate bitterness on the back end. could use a touch more oomph in the taste department, but unlike such offerings as Celebration there are no annoying flavors lingering around.
m 3.5-4 medium body and enough resin to let you know it's an ipa, though i would perhaps prefer a lusher, stickier texture.
d 4-4.5 one of the most drinkable IPAs i've experienced. if they could add just a bit more flavor and hop oil, this would be a major winner.

My first beer from this brewery. I recently made a road trip to Wi and stopped in Milwaulkee. I had it at this hotel I stayed at. It poured a mix of gold and amber colors and remained cloudy. The beers head was thick but soon dissipated but the lacing was very prominent (much like a Guinness) unique for a regular IPA. The taste starts sweet and a piny or earth hop flavor slowly workes it's way in. You expect it to become bitter but never comes. This is a great intro to anyone who is afraid of other IPAs , the hop taste is there but pretty much no bitter. I usually like atleast some bitter but the outright flavor of the hops in this brew made up for it.

Served on tap at Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee, WI. Poured a cloudy dark orange body with a thin white head. Aroma is piney and spicy hops. Medium bodied with great hop flavor and a malt character that backs it up well, yet keeps the hops at the fore front. Excellent drinkability from this IPA.

Not great, not terrible. I had this today at a beer bar and it was just ok. I would not have guessed the abv but that explains my sleepiness right now. Good color, good taste, but it doesn't stand out in any other way. Worth a try if you see it but don't count on ordering a second.

Served with a very nice, large, foamy and frothy, off-white head and good lace. Color is a hazy medium amber. Aroma is a little malty and lots of fresh hops. Flavor is firstly - fresh, chewy hops on top of a little caramel malt. Good beer. Not too sweet; just enough to stand up to the hops. Great carbonation and mouth. Nice finish too. Don't notice the alcohol until the very end of the finish. Perhaps a session beer. I like this one a lot!

Had this at Local 44 in Philly as part of their $1 kick the keg draft special
dark amber body...off white head...decent amount of lacing is left on the glass
a big hit of floral hops up front...becomes a bit more mellow in the end...dry finish
nice pine flavor from the hops....malt background keeps things in balance...slight bit of bitterness at the end
moderate amount of carbonation on your tongue...very crisp and refreshing....medium body
only paid $1 per pint for this but i'd be willing to pay full price for this one if i see it around again

Poured a golden opaque color with a small white head. Nose had a nice hop aroma. Taste was not over the top but more of a good balanced IPA. Not to much of anything. It seemed like a mix of American and English style. Taste was nice, fruit undertones, slightly hoppy, chewy, backbone with a nice ABV which left it sessionable. Tasty and very drinkable. Nice change of pace from the West Coast IPAs I am use to.

On tap @ the Blind Tiger 03-15-09
Poured a light amber hazy color, with a white head that left behind a sticky lace. Pretty standard IPA aroma here, some light citrus, pine and malt. The taste was bready/malty, herbal hop finish. Medium body at best, not the greatest hop taste. OVerall a pretty middle of the road IPA, nothing special

on tap at the Gate in Brooklyn NY, pours lighter honey amber, typical tan head shows decent retention and then leaves scattered lacing on the glass. Grainy hop nose gleefully portends what is to come. Hops come through loud and clear, grainy and also somewhat floral. Nice enough stuff that seems to have made the trip from good ole Wisconsin in fine form. Nice serviceable and quite enjoyable IPA

Before being released by Lakefront, my friend reports this brew was the exclusive house IPA at Comet Cafe - Mangy Rabbit.
Enjoyed on-tap at Meglio Pizzeria. (Corner of Humboldt Ave. and Water St.)
Pours a copper amber with a one finger head and moderate carbonation. Spotty lacing.
Spicy, pine aroma with sweet malted undertones. Essences of caramel and spruce.
Hops aplenty. Pine upfront followed by toasted biscuit. Finishes with a dry, hoppy bitterness that hits the back of the tongue.
Extremely drinkable: one of the most sessionable IPAs I've had to date. Borderline poundable in a good way. Especially after playing 90 minutes of pick-up hockey.
Pairs well with a Canadian bacon, mushroom, black olive and tomato pizza. That and watching the Brewers best the Mets by a deuce.
Congrats to Lakefront on a hoppy, well-balanced IPA offering.

A: Dark golden-amber with a nice puffy off-white head... a bit of lacing is left behind...
S: Nice floral hop character punches you in the face to start.. mellows out to a more earthy hop aroma towards the end.
T: The different hop aromas manifest themselves in a playful way in the taste... balanced by a nice malt background... just a hint of bitterness in the finish
M: Refreshing. Crisp. Clean. Moderate Carbonation on the tongue.
D: A good showing... Will definitely drink again. Just gotta find it out this way!!

I enjoyed this beer on-tap at a newer establishment on the East Side.
Appearance: Cloudy yellow with a thick head.
Smell: Smelled of pines and quite spicy.
Taste: Just as the smell suggests and got better the warmer it got. It was too cold at first to let all the flavors come through, but it definitely got better as I worked my way through my glass. Just enough bitterness in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied and smooth.
Drinkability: Another fine job by Lakefront. I was disappointed with the anniversary ale, so I was happy this new ale came out as well as it did. I will definitely seek this one out again.

What did Mr Rodgers say- " i like to take my time and do it right?" I guess the same can be said for Lakefront. The Mangey Rabbit not only escapes the Comet's path but goes national.
So my friends, my hometown craft beer nirvana does it again- well and this time can I say well-balanced, very well-balanced hops. the popularity of the mangey rabbit from the local comet cafe convinced Lakefront to introduce this beer into its regular lineup. Still amazing to me that I drink it again at the G-lodge in my now hometown of Philly.
Very balanced beer. the hops have strong presence through out start on the front of the palate and have that lingering finish, but how mellow, long smooth burn with a nice balance of sweet malt makes for great mouthfeet and makes me clamor for more. The ultimate session beer for moi. great job lakefront on another fine product. all the success to you as you conquer new 'east coast' horizons. you can bet i'll buy some cases to enjoy.
other notes- nice caramal color and excellent glass lacing and head retention. fresh beer poured on clean lines. What type of hops Russ? columbus and? Abv I guess to be about 6. great, very enjoyable beer.

Had on draft at the Frisco Grille, Columbia, MD.
Beer poured a deep amber, clear, with a decent white head. Smelled very citrusy and spicy, loaded with floral hops. Very well balanced, piney, citrusy and hoppy. Very smooth on the tongue, medium body. Very drinkable, ranks up there with other great American IPAs.

Poured into becker pint glass. Slightly cloudy yellow-orange with a thick dense white head that isn't going anywhere. Leaves tons of lacing as it (very) slowly fades. Smells of all hops, mostly sweet fruity ones. Taste is very clean and crisp, with clear crackery malt but lots of hop flavor too, although sans the bitterness. A delicious take on the style, hoppy but not palate-destroying.
