Appearance is gold, somewhat hazy with lifeless head. Nose is grainy with notes of corn, grain, and grassy hops. Taste is somewhat citrusy with grain to follow and light grassy hops. The citrus seems out of place. Mouthfeel is light and under carbonated. Overall, pretty underwhelming.

A: The gold colored beer has bit of chill haze in it. There is a light dusting of sediment in the bottle so don't stir up the yeast with an overly enthusiastic pour. A persistant, rocky white head.
S: Pilsner malt and a spicy German hops. There is a slight sulfar aroma that quickly blows off and is common with Pilsners. There is a slight grainy note and a faint bit of diacetyl otherwise a nice clean lager aroma.
T: A moderately-low pils malt sweetness and moderate hops bitterness is smooth. The moderate hops flavor is spicy. The aftertaste is a balance of hops and malt flavors past the dry finish. The balance is somewhat bitter. No fruity esters.
M: medium bodied with the diacetyl adding the perception of some weight with a slight slickness. The carbonation is moderate.
O: An enjoyable Bohemian Pilsner that is very food friendly. It's a moderately hoppy beer, not IPA hop-head pleasing but good no the less.

12oz bottle into pint, review from notes
Look is a slightly cloudy orange-yellow with a small head. Smell is bready with a bit of coriander and yeast. Taste follows as white bread and grain fade to spices and faint lemony hops. Very drinkable, slight stringency at the end.
Very drinkable pils, but expensive and not overly impressive.

With this offering from Lakefront Brewery, the Klisch, I had a 12oz bottle poured into a pint/nonic glass.
A - it has a cloudiness to it, giving the beer a golden-blonde appearance. It only produced about 1/4 inch of foamy white head at the top.
S - very light hops, slight citrus note as well.
T - the malt seems to be the main note on the palate. There is no noticeable amount of hops, the beer is crisp, clean, and slightly sweet on the finish.
M - medium to full-bodied, it is very smooth. It has perhaps a bit of chewiness to it due to the slight cloudiness.
O - I did enjoy the Klisch from Lakefront. It is an easy drinking beer, not overly complex and straight forward. A very nice refreshing beer to drink on a hot summer day.

Appearance: Pours a hazy honey color with a very modest head; no lacing to speak of
Smell: Very bready, with a lightly sweet edge
Taste: Bready, up front and in the middle, until a grassy hop character arrives; surprisingly, the hops fade, after the swallow, and the malts take it up a notch, adding a graham cracker sweetness
Mouthfeel: Light body with moderate carbonation
Overall: Rather disappointing - a bit too sweet, the hops add very little and the mouthfeel is just all wrong for the style

12 oz bottle poured into a Pilsner glass.
Bottled Apr Wk 3 notched on label.
A - Bright golden yellow and shimmering with clarity, Klisch produces a nice thick white head. Sustained retention leaves some spots of sticky lacing on the glass.
S - Sure as shit, Klisch smells like a genuine Czech Pilsner! Sweet pilsner malts are at the forefront while floral noble hops add balance and an interesting nuances to this clean, inviting lager.
T - Crisp and light malts with a delicate honey-like sweetness cross the palate followed by an ever-so-slight hint of light white grape on the finish. A small but detectable light floral hop characteristic rounds this beer out.
M - The soft water is a bit slick on the palate, but this pilsner has great body. Not watery at all, it's medium bodied with an overarching sweetness that's balanced by hop bitterness and dryness on the finish.
O - Going down with no complaints, Klisch is one hell of a refreshing and well-balanced pilsner. Round from start to finish, subtle Saaz noble hop notes gently back up the sweet pilsner malt beautifully. Supremely drinkable (we used to do boots of this when I had it on tap at home) Klisch Pilsner bridges the gap between no-brain lawnmower lager and nearly perfectly brewed definition of a style.

Reviewed from notes taken at a cask party.
This particular cask had a placard in front of it claiming that it had been dry-hopped, but did not go so far as to explain with what variety of hops. The server on duty at the time did not know either.
Poured out a rather clouded golden straw color with a fizzy single finger of evaporating head (room temp cask) and no lacing at all, but the aroma was absolutely filled with a combination of white pear juice and fresh grassy herbals over the top of a crackery malt. Oh man did it ever smell like it was going to be an sweeter German Pilsner, but it really surprised me by presenting a standard dry Czech pilsner flavor through and through. The finish was clean and crisp, and the refreshingly carbonated lighter body was absolutely true to style. It's just that...it smelled like a sweeter German Pilsner yet tasted like a drier Czech Pilsner. And while I would normally knock a lot of points off my review for false style advertising, the image of the bottle shown above merely has the world "pilsner" alone on the label, a legal loophole in my self-imposed criteria!
So I therefore tentatively recommend trying this one if you are curious about what the two styles of pilsner would taste like blended together. Its weird, but weirdness does not necessarily equal badness in this case.

Poured into Samual Adams Perfect Pint. Bottled October, week 2, 2011
A - Light straw in color. Little white head that collapses to a tiny ring around the top with no lacing. Has a slight haze to it.
S - Very nice clean bready malt right up front. Some pleasant herbal/spicy hop notes are easily detected.
T - Clean malt profile that keeps this light beer balanced. Faint herbal hop flavor throughout. Not all that dry but a nice mildly spicy hop kiss at the end.
M - Light in body, medium carbonation.
O - I enjoyed this beer but never got any distinguishing traits to set itself apart. Quite enjoyable with good hop flavor.

12 oz bottle into a tulip. (Purchased directly from the brewery.)
A: Very slightly cloudy. Honey gold with sunny yellow tones. Lazy carbonation. White foamy head falls quickly.
S: Grainy with sweet fruitiness in background. Slightly spicy hop aroma.
T: Grain bill plays main role here. Drinks like a full flavored saison (spicy) with a little sweet wit-like note.
M: Med-high carbonation. Dry finish. SLight oiliness.
D: Sessionable and uniquely tasty. This is a delicious example of the style. Really decent.

12oz bottle.
This beer pours a cloudy medium golden straw colour, with one finger of thin foamy off-white head, which leaves but a few specks of lace around the glass as it quickly settles. It smells of mildly crisp white cracker malt, and somewhat skunky, grassy, weedy hops. The taste is bready (of the Wonder style) malt, a little orchard fruitiness, a slight yeast twang, and earthy, weedy hops. The carbonation is moderate, with a slight effervescence, the body medium weight - a bit of that of the fruit persuasion, and it's all generally smooth. It finishes off-dry, the bready sweetness facing little challenge from the floundering hop character.
You can tell that this beer has the right intentions, good malt, but the oh-so-important Saaz hop component falls flat. Not bad as a belt 'em back beer, but still a flabby interpretation of an unforgiving style.

355ml bottle poured into pint glass 9/11/11
A golden yellow with a slight haze from the suspended particles, not much for bubbles in the glass and just a very short lived finger of foam leaves no lace
S quite grainy with some faint grassy hops and a little lemon
T what I smell but a little sour soggy cereal, not really feeling this one
M more bubbles in the mouth then you would guess from what you could see in the glass, a little thin with a soggy cornflake aftertaste
O I'm not sold on this one, not the best example of the style
I think this was my least favorite in a pretty disappointing mixed pack from Lakefront,

Not a bad pils with quite a dry hoppy finish which sets it apart from many craft lagers which tend to be sweeter. Not on the same level as prima pils but decent enough to drink when the weather gets warm. Much prefer the stein beer as a lager from these guys

Here is an average, non-descript craft beer in every way possible. Poured into a pilsner glass. Smell was subtle grain and malt. Taste was mildly nut-biscuit and grains, light bittering hops. Watery mouthfeel and crisp carbonation. It is what it is, but it beats a macro.

Small capped bottle from the sampler. Poured into a pilsner glass.
Straw colored, off white head, small, little retention.
Some malt aroma, minimal hops. You really need to put your nose in there to get anything.
Light bodied, refreshing but unremarkable, with some maltiness, minimal hoppiness.
Quite limited.

A- Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color with an off-white head.
S- The aroma is faint grainy malts, lemon and hops.
T- The taste is grain, citrus and a hint of hops and yeast in the finish.
M- The mouthfeel is light bodied with a good amount of carbonation.
O- Overall, this is a decent beer that would be a nice quaffable beer in the warm summer months if nothing else is around.

12oz longneck
A) Pours with a finger thick, white head that settles slightly. Good retention with sticky lacing. Slight chill haze. Straw colored body.
S) Citrus, grains and grass.
T) Light on the palate at first then moves to a mellow nutty grain and subtle citrus tones - lemon peel. Finishes fairly clean with a light lingering of grains.
M) Crisp. Fizzy. Light. Dry and a little gritty in the finish.
O) A nice brew. Very refreshing and easy to drink. I'd pour another.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a nonic because I'm dumb and didn't pour this into a pilsner glass.
This brew is pretty nice looking. Pours a hazy pale golden color crested with two fingers of head that retain pretty well. Huge carbonation is apparent. Lacing and retention are both actually quite good for the style. The aroma is absolutely huge on zesty noble hops, with pale malts and some wheatiness backing it up. The taste is a bit lacking. It comes on fairly strong with some nice noble hops over some subtle malts, but the finish brings in strongly astringent citrus and something that just tastes a little bit sour. It's close, but not quite. It's basically lacking the great balance that's the hallmark of a good pilsner. The mouthfeel is a bit thicker than the average pilsner, and highly carbonated. The drinkability suffers a lot due to the poor aftertaste and relative thickness. Overall, this was just barely an alright pilsner. I've had a host of better ones.

A: Slightly hazed out light pale gold in color. Forms an enormously large head, so much so that I could only get a third of the bottle into the glass at one time. Great retention as well that leaves globs of lace on the way down, while a very heavy shower of carbonation bubbles races upwards.
S: Slightly sweet malt and a huge hit of grassy noble hops.
T: Much like the aroma. Sweetish malt base with lots of grassy hops and an almost Belgian yeast funkiness. Interesting blend which I really enjoyed.
M: Lighter body that had been aggressively carbonated. Bubbles seem to dance on the tongue.
O: A light, refreshing, yet flavorful beer. Considering the other reviews, I wonder if my bottle was mislabeled!

Poured into a tulip glass; presents with pale translucent straw, slightly murky and not effervescent; nice white head but dissipates quickly, light clinging.
Smell is light pils malt sweetness, hint of wheat bread. Not much going.
Taste is bready, biscuity, not what I would expect from a pils; grainy flavors with a hint of corn; very feint floral hops.
Mouthfeel is a little to thick from the grainy and malt sweetness, not light and crisp on the tongue as many a good pils are.
Overall, very bland pilsner to me, to sweet not enough carbonation and hop bitterness to make it refereshing.

Served in a Dogfish Head shaped pint glass.
What better way to celebrate the obtaining of new beer (Half Acre's new barleywine, to be vaguely precise) than by drinking another? Yeah... Anyway, this stuff pours a clear pale straw topped by a finger of stark white foam. The nose comprises wheat, mild chalk, sweet flowers, and a light touch of banana peel. The taste follows this recipe pretty closely, but then brings in some light corn, hard water, and light orange rind. Things were going so well, too... The body is pretty light, with a very light moderate carbonation and a crisp finish. Overall, I'd basically classify this as a pils that was almost good. Had the taste not flickered out on me, I'd've enjoyed this brew.

12oz. bottle poured into a pilsner glass. Bottled week 1 of March 2011. Thanks to BeerFMAndy for the bottle!
(A)- Pours a clear yellow color that produced a nice fluffy white head with great retention behind it & lacing aplenty.
(S)- A nice dryness with bits of lemon and lightly earthy grains.
(T)- A nice mild honey-like sweetness with subtle lemon and several earthy grains I cannot pinpoint.
(M)- A nice crisp carbonation level and balance. A mild malty sweetness with those earthy grains.
(D)- For the style, this is quite a good beer. Crisp and refreshing with a super easy drinkability.

A: The beer is cloudy light yellow in color and has a high amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a three finger high white head that has very good retention properties.
S: There are light aromas of grassy hops in the nose along with some notes of grainy malts.
T: The taste is rather malty and has a slight amount of bitterness in the finish.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and smooth on the palate and has a high amount of carbonation.
D: The beer is very drinkable and goes down easily because it doesn't exhibit a lot of bitterness or dryness.

I bought a Lakefront 8-pack variety from Woodman's in Janesville, WI for about $11 in Fall 2010.
This German Pilsner pours a light yellowish color as the scent of malts hover ove rthe beer. Upon tasting you take in a good taste of malts with hint of lemon citrus. Not anything to rave about, but not terrible either.

A - clear golden color with modest white head of medium duration.
T - Dominant flavor is a lightly toasted malt. Subtle hops. Baked grains.
Very smooth, soft and tasty pilsner. Not complex or bold but, given that, has a particularly appealing and refreshing finish. Lacks the dryness and bite of a typical pilsner, but I ignored this while rating and enjoying this brew.

Bottle thanks to BeerFMAndy. Thanks for the extra! Poured into a pilsner glass.
Pours a very cloudy, hazy bright yellow-straw color with a single-finger white head. Some very large carbonation bubbles make up the head and there is a tad bit of lacing sticking to the glass. quite a bit of lacing bit I really can't get past the extreme cloudiness of this beer; it's almost opaque. The nose is quite plain other than some very mild grain and the tiniest hint of light seeded fruit. Reminds me a bit of a keller bier. No noticeable hops here.
The taste is pretty mild with a fairly-creamy mouthfeel and a bit of light carbonation. Taste has a very mild metallic astringency as well as a bit of light grain and husks. Subtle bready character and a bit of pear. Body is quite light. A decent beer, but nothing too special about it. Thanks again, Andy.
