Thanks to fo5s for this one. Poured from a 22oz. bomber into a Sam Adams perfect pint.
A: Bottle is a slow gusher that I have to put in the sink. Standard pour yields a frothy, 3 finger off-white volatile head that continually foams. Beer is a semi-clear pale orange-clay. Lacing is patchy, thick, spotty, and with little legs all at once. Good stick.
S: As the bottle sits in the sink, I can already smell the sour cherries. As I dip into the glass, aromas of cherry, citrus, and rusty metal infiltrate my nose. Still not really sure what to make of this one but I know that's not what an amber ale is suppoed to smell like.
T: Going in, I expect this one to be infected and sour... but its not really and I'm a little disappointed. Opens with the slightest hint of flavorful sour cherries. Overtones of sappy, resiny hops and yeasty bitterness. Rusty metal towards the end and a finish that makes me feel like I'm sticking my tongue down a dirty drain-pipe. Aftertaste is more resin-hop bitterness that lets you know its fading.
M: Light to medium bodied and well carbonated. Lively in the mouth but peeters out pretty quickly. Settles down to a watery, thin brew. Finish is sticky and aftertaste lingers.
D: I went through a lot of phases with this beer. At first, I was excited to try an infected sour amber ale like I got from the nose. Then, when I got to tasting it, I discovered it had a moderate sour twinge over a very mediocre amber ale body. However, as this one warms, it just gets worse and worse... ends up like dirty, rusty pipe water and completely undrinkable.
I'd like to coin the term "ninja" here and now. As in this beer ninja-d me. It snuck up on me and I was unsuspecting. I took a couple of sips and it didn't seem that bad... but now I keep thinking about it over and over again and as I do, it gets worse and worse and I feel like this offer has killed my palate somehow... damn ninja-beer. Wouldn't wish this one on my worst enemies.

I'm not sure what "Scottish Style" means.
Maybe I'm supposed to think of a Scotch Ale when trying to coin this beer, or perhaps there's supposed to be some hints of Scotch Ale spattered around the flavor. I dunno.
Poured looking all the world like a red Ale.
There was nothing special about the presentation. Short lived head, very mild nose.
Flavor-- American Ale.. so what is "Scottish Style"? Maybe a light IPA-- hops bitterness is the most notable characteristic.
Long clean finish.
Mouthfeel cordial-- nothing so overpowering that it inerrupts my concentration on what I'm reading.
Drinkability- good. I could down a few bottles at a sitting. But I wouldn't hunt out this one infiltrating the bottle jungle at my local packie.
