Poured a golden color with a decent head from a 12 oz. bottle. Smelled slightly of hops, but more of bready malt. Taste was the same for me, although I could taste hops, there was a huge bread-like malt flavor that essentially nullified the hops. I expect hops to outweigh everything in an IPA, so personally, I was disappointed. Mouthfeel was good; nice and carbonated and clean. Drinkability for me due to the taste was not good. Got this as a gift, but would not purchase on my own.

Bottle dated to not expire until 7/12. Even if this was brewed yesterday that's a long time for an IPA.
Amber with a proud white head. Great retention paints a foamy mess on my glass with one large deposit in the shape of Idaho. Boring bottle art.
Spicy orange citrus and toffee aroma. Tastes...malty. Buttery, rye cracker and caramel malt came to the front first but probably because I wasn't expecting it. There's ample spicy citrus hops in here for balance. Sticky, tongue coating hop resin.
"Balanced" IPA: a dirty word? Discuss.

CASK @ Ram's Head West Chester, PA
A: Hazy amber. Frothy head. Very thick and white.
S: Smells like watered down pine-sol.
T: I feel bad saying this, but it tastes like water that had a wet sock soaking in it for days with a slice of lemon.
M: Thin. Pleasant. Casking absolutely added a great mouthfeel quaity.
OVERALL: It's sort of a running joke that the Ram's Head ruins good beer from casking them. This one fell into that stereotype. It was thin and watery and, honestly, tasted like shoe smells. Had Gritty's 21 before and loved it, but this was just a miss. I feel bad pulling down the ratings, so just know not to get this one on cask.
NOTE: Live review. (I will revisit this as a non-cask review)

Into a pint glass:
A: clear amber body with a lumpy super bubbly foamy head, some light lacing
S: hops, pine, malts
T: bittersweet through the pine, and hops, subdued malts
M: light, watery, sessionable, no aftertaste, malty finish
O: decent for the style, unsure if I would pursue this again

12 oz bottle poured into a goblet
A - Amber with a quickly dissipating white head and light lacing.
S - Sharper hops smell, smell the malts in the background.
T - Piney hops, malty but not at all sweet. The piney bitterness stays on your tongue after you have finished a sip.
M - Light carbonation, watery not much body.
O - Not my favorite offering from Gritty's compared to the Halloween Ale or Christmas Ale, this is not in the same league. Probably won't go out of my way to buy this one again.

12 oz bottle, pretty fresh from the winter mix pack
A: Pours a nice amber/orange color, typical IPA maybe a hint darker, thin white head dissipated quickly, almost no lacing. Rather clear but not completely transparent.
S: Lot of citrus hops up front, sour orange, grapefruit, touch of malts.
T: More balanced than scent, more of a piney hop bitterness, with definite english nutty malt backbone. Bitterness stays on palate. Both bitter and malt are strong flavors but for whatever reason they seem to be combating each other more than working together. Call me crazy. As I drink this hop flavor actually develops on tongue from piney to herbal to citrus.
M: Satisfactory amount of carbonation, For ABV a tad watery in body, but a bit creamy, more of a wet beer finish than dry finish. Not a total pallet wrecker but I would switch to something else after 2.
O: I actually wanted to hate this beer because I've been underwhelmed by Grittys but this is a pretty good beer.Big Flavors. Definitely different than most IPA's I've had but worth trying if you can get it fresh. Kinda like a 1.5 English IPA. Still has that Grittys funky kinda buttery/english malt character but I'm over it.

22oz bottle poured into a Pint Glass.
Pours a hazy orange-amber with a fluffy white head that settles to a nice cap, leaving some spotty lacing as it recedes. Moderate aromas of pine resin and grapefruit hops with a fairly sweet caramel malt backbone. Taste is similar to the nose, fairly simple, with more pine resin, grapefruit, caramel malt, and a bit of toasted grains. Mouthfeel is smooth and a bit creamy, with a medium body and good carbonation. Overall a decent IPA, hit the spot but doesn't try to re-invent the wheel.
