A: We went during off-hours between lunch and dinner (late afternoon), but there was still a moderate crowd, especially at the bar. I'd consider that a good thing.
Q: They have a number of vegetarian, free-range, and organic food options, with napkins from recycled paper. Seems like they have a clear idea what they want the restaurant to be, and they are actively making it happen.
S: We got a beer geek for a server, who seemed to know what I was after when I asked about the Hop Rising, McGrueh's Irish Stout, and Hell's Keep. He put together a custom sampler for me based on those and a couple of other beers that he suggested, and kept popping back to check in on us. Since this was my first experience with a cask ale, he took the opportunity to discuss the style with me. Nice to meet someone who knows/enjoys beer on a brewpub staff.
S: A great variety of food options -- even my vegetarian girlfriend was happy. Also about 8 beers on tap, plus a cask-conditioned ale. Some great daily specials, and an intriguing amount of desserts.
F: I ordered a seafood enchilada, which was delicious, and my girlfriend tried a veggie burger (just ok) with regular fries (great) and sweet potato fries (decent). I've rarely encountered a brewpub with GOOD food, so I'm impressed.
The cost came out to a reasonable total. Good value. If I'm in SLC again I'll definitely come here.

It's funny how a place like this can be kind of typical for a brewpub, but somehow it isn't as bland or boring as Red Rock. At least there is something going on here worth seeing. Unfortunately, they don't have some of the highly rated bottle releases you'd want to see, as those are probably one-offs at this point (529, Fifth Element). However, there are some tasty beers to be had here. Radio From Hell is quite good. As are others. Food here is standard brewpub fair. Nothing really blowing you away here.
Considering the location to the downtown area, this is a no-brainer for a visit.

cool sport right downtown in salt lake. long open space with tall ceilings and an outdoor area in the back. had about a 10 minute wait for a table, and rather slow service for an uncroded place. quite a few beers on tap, and a bottle selection as well that features some amazing beers. the fifth element farmhouse is incredible. the organic amber was the pick on tap, but they were all pretty good. the outer darkness imperial stout with the peanut butter chocolate pie was a great treat, but we didnt have any other food. pitchers were well priced, but the bottles were way too pricey. overall a pretty cool place that i prefered to red rock on both an atmosphere and beer standpoint, save the red rock reve belgian. definitely check it out when you are in town.

Coming here twice, first time after my flight and waiting for others to arrive into Salt Lake City, and the night before my departure, stopped in to buy some beer to go (only place to sell beer to-go on Sundays by law!), I enjoyed my time here!
Walking in, you are greeted with a hostess and have the option to take a seat at the bar, a table, or get your to-go beer and get the hell out. Both times, I sat at the bar. Liked how they serve their brews in either 0,3L or 0,5L glasses.
The waitress was prompt with service but didn't help a whole lot on trying to pick out a brew. She was definitely trying to push their bottles but while they are all over $20 a 22oz, I respectfully declined. No problem here, they had plenty on-tap to choose from! Very funny how she didn't tap the handles in front of us but from a "bus-station". Wonder what the reasoning was for this?
I did not order any food here but my friend Chris ordered their Breakfast Burrito, and looked delicious! Would definitely order these if I came back.
I would recommend this place whether your with friends or family. The food menu looked very appetizing and they have plenty of beers to keep any beer lover interested.

The location of this brewery is great...right near the heart of downtown and in a very cool building. The inside was nice as well, neat beer flags hanging from the ceiling and huge bar down the one side. There was plenty of seating both inside and out. The quality was ok...I think the beer are somewhat hindered by the Utah law of 4% max ABV for beers on tap and Utah brewers deserve props for being hamstrung because some of the beers are quite nice. The food was decent but not great. My salad look old and the jumbalaya, which was supposed to be a fav, was ok. There was pleanty to chose from for both food and drink. Definitly worth a visit if you are in SLC.

Squatters is in an accessible downtown location and had a good brewpub atmosphere. A long bar along the entire right wall provides plenty of seating, and the dining area seems pretty small at first.... until you realize there are two more floors of dining!
The food selection includes a lot of the standard pub offerings, including hot wings (which were quite good), sandwiches, fish & chips, etc. But there were also more unusual offerings including a thai curry dish and a few others. The garlic fries were quite tasty.
The beer selection had a little something for everyone. I had the Full Suspension Pale Ale on cask as well as a Chasing Tail Golden Ale. Both were good but the Full Suspension stood out to me. I would have loved to stick around to try a few more.
The service was good, the waitress was attentive but didn't hover. The bartender definitely knew his stuff and was quite helpful in making a selection despite the busy dinner rush. Everyone was friendly and seemed to enjoy being there.
Overall it was a very enjoyable experience and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who visits SLC.

First time visit to SLC, I was surprised to find a nice brewpub downtown after hearing about the Utah alcohol laws.
The pub had a very nice atmosphere, nice bar, larger indoor and outdoor seating area. I twas crowded during my visit and it appeared the staff might have been a little stressed.
The beer selection was good, obviously a focus on their beer. I only had appetizers, was a little disappointed in the sweet potato fries, appeared to be the frozen variety. The service was good and efficient, however, our server had very little knowledge of the beer available. Overall the experience was good and I would recommend for SLC to stop by for a brew.

Really liked Squatters Pub. The food was great. Had the Seared Tuna Salad. Twice. The beer is quality. Like the atmosphere a lot. Has a patio where we spent a couple of evenings, as it cools off at night. A separate bar area upstairs. One thing to note is that it was incredibly busy the weekend we were there. The beers that I had were well done. I mostly drank the Oatmeal Stout. They also have a decent Hefeweizen. So glad I didn't have to mess with Utah's unusual liquor laws. I would recommend this place when in Salt Lake City.

Was in SLC for a few days and stopped by twice. One of the better brewbars in SLC and definitely a lot of selections on draft. However its the usual low ABV stuff and, while I know its theoretically possible to have a great beer that is 4% ABV no place i went to in SLC pulled it off. Squatters had a limited (~6) number of higher ABV beers available by the bottle, though unfortunately didn't have 2 of the higher rated ones when i was there and the few I tried were slightly above average at best.
If you are in town for a conference like i was, my suggestion is to avoid this place Friday/Saturday night when it was insanely crowded. I stopped by during the day instead and it was very pleasant even though I wasn't overwhelmed by the quality of the beer.

One of the better brew pubs in SLC. great atomphere and the buliding and bar layout is very nice. Nice looking girls working and the food is great for a pub. Fish and chips are excellent and the burgers are great too. Everything seenmed fresh and not frozen food.
Loved the IPA and the Hop Rising is a solid beer. Also liked the Hell's Keep. I did not like the Hop Head Red on Nitro and the oktoberfest was OK. I was in town for a short time and ended up at this bar twice it was so good. Overall I would hihly recommend this brew pub over red rock that is right down thie street.
