Revisiting this one over a year later. Ratings remain the same, still quite delicious.
Pours a reddish brown color, somewhat cloudy with not much head and a fair lacing.
Smells spicy and sweet, with dark fruits, brown sugar, and a little bit yeasty.
Tastes very much like the style should, spices, yeast, fruits, and a sweet brown sugar flavor that lingers. There's a slight alcohol taste. Very nice overall flavor.
Mouthfeel is rich and smooth, not much carbonation, and just a faint sweet to bitter aftertaste.
Drinkability is a tad heavy going down, but when you're in the mood for something thick and flavorful, this is a great beer.
Got this one as an extra in a trade, and a very fine extra it was! The revisit was also obtained in a trade, and I was quite happy to have it again!

From a PA haulback in early March:
Into a tulip and a snifter at separate times (only difference is a larger head in the tulip, about 3 finger and closer to a 2 finger in the snifter):
A: slightly dark brown body head noted above, thick foamy lacing along the sides of the glass
S: sweet cherries, heavy malt coming through a sugary sweet way
T: sweet through previously mentioned flavors
M: medium, slightly sessionable, sweet sticky aftertaste and finish
O: I say good for a Belgian Strong Dark Ale and I'd have this one again, though as much as I let it warm I didn't detect any yeast, so, yeah, good for me, but leaves a questionable note of how good it truly is towards its suggested style
