eyes...
2 full fingers of head rise up from da' can, hazy golden hue with a fair amount of carbonation shooting up towards the moon, lacing is particularly clingy, definitely a lighter hue than most DIPAs but that is just observation, not a knock, overall it looks real nice, the head is also hanging out at around half a finger for some moments now.. nice.
nose...
dry and bready malt, the hops are slightly herbal, almost reminds me of english hops like fuggle etc. the oak notes are in there, over all this is very subtle, interesting
taste etc...
juicy fruit ? the bitterness comes in at the end in a strange way, the body is medium light and spot on, the abv is well hidden, this just has a very strang taste for a DIPA... it has a sweetness that is slightly off, not sure what to make of this one, it isn't spit worthy but it is confounding to see what the brewer was going for.
verdict?
off for the style, should some latitude be allowed ? sure, but this travels even outside those lines, it iw worth trying just because it is markedly different from other DIPAs, maybe it is your bag baby ?

12 oz can was poured into a snifter. Canned 8/6/12.
Appearance: This beer poured a one finger head that reduced to a thin layer and left some nice lacing on the glass. It is a pale orange color with great clarity and bubbles coming up through the glass. More lacing on the glass as the beer was drank.
Smell: Citrus hops, boozy alcohol, caramel malts, and a little oak.
Taste: grapefruit and tangerine, caramel and toffee, mild hop tingly bitterness, and a little oakey.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, a little boozy, low to medium carbonation, medium bodied, and very drinkable.
Overall: Pretty solid DIPA. I would grab another can.

A: Golden yellow with a 1/2 inch head — dissipates to about 1/8 inch — and laces all the way down.
S: Lots of citrus, bits of oak and earth, slight malt.
T: Surprisingly biscuity up front. Quickly gives way to grapefruit and hops. Oaked smokiness masks some of the alcohol flavor near the back. Ends very bitter.
M: Moderate thickness and carbonation.
O: It’s a really nice beer. Not too heavy-handed on the oak flavors, but enough to cover some of the booziness and add a nuanced finish. And you’re never confused about what you’re drinking; definitely a DIPA all the way through. Very drinkable for the high alcohol content, and pretty refreshing, especially near the end of summer. 21st Amendment continues to deliver on the off-the-beaten-path excellence I’ve come to expect from them.

nice lookig beer sunset orange.big malty sweetness with alot of tropical fruits pineapple, papaya ,and orange juice a little bit of booziness. a tiny bit of the oak coming through. tropical fruits hit first then the woody oak aspects come in, then tropical flavors hit again with some booziness and floral flavors. very juicy. not super bitter.mouthfell medim to full.
a good twist on a dipa highly recommended if you don't like super bitter dipas. wood could be a littlle more pronounced though. but still a damn good beer .

Hazy golden amber in the Crooked Line narrow tulip. Big aroma of canned pineapple is odd but likable. This is so fruity and orange peel flavored it's crazy. Strong and alcoholic tasting. A scratchy, dark hop intensity rises up amid the mangos and fruit cocktail. A brief biscuit flavor.
Rich and tart with hop oils. Yeasty and kind of a stew of hop flavors. The bitterness threatens to take over, but it's so goofy you have to like it. Overall it's very sippable, fragrant, and full of fruit flavors. Bought a four-pack of cans at the Jug Shop in San Francisco.
