500mL green glass capped mini-champagne bottle. Purchased at the Hunger Mountain Co-op in Montpelier today, $20. No date.
"Belgian-inspired Saison ale made with water, barley hops & yeast. Hand-bottled, Unpasteurized."
Pours a deep golden amber with thin white head that fades down to just about nothing. Nose is spicy and earthy, like hay in the sun. White pepper, a little hint of adhesive, some mildly skunking hops (green glass, but it's appreciated for the style) and ends on peaches of all colors.
Palate is crisp with some hop bitterness. Honeyed texture over all, nice flavor profile. Spices, white peach, green peppercorns, Belgian yeast flavors.
Notes: Tasty beer for sure, a nice release. The price tag is way too steep for a non-barrel-aged beer. They need to find a way to bring this tag down on this release.
