Light amber and clear with a thinly laced cap. Virtually nothing detectable in the nose, some slight floral aroma. Very dry and peppery hop character which is what this beer seem to be focusing on takes notice right away. Chalky bitterness lingers about and consumes the entire mouth. The balance is off in its lack of malts characters, faint but detectable are nutty and roasted malt notes. Sweeter fruit notes make their appearance as it warms. The finish contains more of its hop characteristics and is very welcomed. Mildly enjoyable beer but nothing to get excited over.

Dark nicely coppered penny color. Great depth of color for the style. Head is off white and thick with substance, and good retention. Lacing is full and thick as well. Carbonation bubbles creep toward the top of the glass.
Caramel bready malts galore. Nice citrusy hop with floral notes as well as piney notes. Hints of grapefruit, orange and lemon and peach.
Very solid. Bready with a hint of honey sweetness. Mouthefeel is a little to light. Citrus is the fruit profile with a tangerine twist and a stone fruit middle with piney flavorings lingering throught finish. Bittering hops are moderate with a tingly carbonation. Caramel shows thorugh. Easily drinkable, too bad this isn't more readily available (especially in the Dayton area:()

A: Hazy orange-golden color, with one finger frothy white head.
S: Aroma is of citrus fruits, most notably oranges, with a bit of floral hops as well.
T: Continuation of aroma alongside a big biscuity malt flavor, which very effectively balances the beer's light hop bitterness. I was extremely satisfied with the crisp bitterness this beer provided; it was easily the most bitter of the few (~5) ESBs I have tried to date.
M: Medium body and carbonation, pleasant lightly bitter finish.
D: Could have sat and drank glass after glass of this, if only they hadn't had Blackout Stout on tap that day too.

A- Pours a slightly bit hazy light golden orange color with a thin white head. Head has ok retention and leaves a bit of spotty lacing.
S- Smells grassy, fruity, bready malts and a bit of hops. Nothing overpowering and fairly light.
T- A great balance between the malts, fruits and hops here. Starts out with a nice dose of bready malts, moving into a nice fruity taste and then finishes with a bit of bitterness.
M- Lighter side in body and good carbonation.
D- Very easy to drink and enjoyable.

This beer poured a clear copper color and had a thin white head to it. It's crisp with a strong hop bitterness. The hops give off some unique citrus flavors -especially grapefruit rinds. Perfect malt body and a subtle hop aroma. This beer has alot to offer and is a great ESB. This is one I could drink all night.

Hands down, this brew needs to become a regular within the GLB rotation. Bottle it please!! Of all the brews that GLB offers this one makes the best argument for a session brew. This goes down so smooth and tasty-almost takes you back to an English pub! I would think this is a great intro beer for any of you BA's looking to sway your macro drinking buds. Cheers to you GLB!

I got a glass of this on-tap recently on a trip to the brewery. This beer is another on-tap pub exclusive only available at the brewery. Served in a tumbler/pint glass. This beer is a clear, medium copper/brown color with deep red highlights. The head is a good2/3 inches when drawn from the tap. Settles to a good 1/4 after a few minutes. Good retention and nice lacing. Aromas of sweet, roasted malt upfront followed by the noble hops and a hint of caramel or brown sugar. Flavors of roasted, sweet malt upfront followed by slightly dry hops and a hint of caramel and or honey. Very well balanced taste! This beer has a smooth and crisp mouthfeel with a full body and moderate to heavy carbonation. Overall drinkability is good, but not the most drinkable beer I have ever had from Great Lakes. A real winner for sure though!

Served in a pint glass at the Great Lakes brewpub. The color was amber, with a bubbly white head. The smell was a mix of citrus hops and malt. The taste was citrus hops and a good heavy pale malt sweetness. Mouthfeel was average. As for drinkability, could have several,
A very solid ESB from Great Lakes, comparable to their Moondog (and may have been the basis for it). Quite good, and hopefully I'll make it up there to give it another try!

I ended the night with this at Great Lakes Brewpub. After having a Blackout and Burning River with dinner, this was a great beer to have at the bar on the way out. The server poured quite the nice pint - a crystal clear coppery color with a frothy white head that rose up above my glass, but did not run over the sides. The nose was fruity with a slight grassiness. Some good pale malt character arose as well. The taste was very crisp and refreshing. There was a very slight grassiness smoothed over by the big pale malt taste. The hops balanced the brew in a delightful manner, adding some citrous taste and a clean bitterness. The mouthfeel was nice and sharp, good carbonation excited my taste buds. I'll definitely look for this beer to be at the brewpub again.

I was here for lunch on 1/31 and I had a few glasses of this, it was great. I came back on 2/1, and it was gone. Not too big of a batch and is not offered anymore.
Appearance: golden in color and has a good amount of head atop the body.
Smell: very fruity with a balance of hops to it.
Taste: shows an earthy flavor with a bitter ending, but not overwhelming.
Mouthfeel: little carbonation, very smooth.
Drinkability: will be drinking again, i had at least 2 glasses in a short amount of time, very good and easy to drink.

Wow. This poured with a good head that was slightly darker than most pale ale or bitter heads. This had a good malt and hop nose and was a rich amber in color. This was very close to the Troegs ESB. I wanted to try more beers at the Great Lakes Brewery Pub but this was so good that I stayed with this.
