Served on-tap at Great Lakes Brewing in Cleveland, OH
A: Pours a clear but opaque very dark brown in color (almost black) with some light amounts of gentle visible carbonation near the surface of the beer and some dark amber highlights. The beer has a finger tall tan head that reduces rather quickly to a very thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer with a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light to moderate aromas of roasted malts with some very light notes of raspberry. There is also a light amount of chocolate aroma as well.
T: Light to moderate flavors of roasted malts upfront that are quickly overtaken by moderate flavors of dark bittersweet chocolate and some very light raspberry. Moderate amounts of bitterness hide the sweetness of the raspberry.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Very light amounts of dryness throughout.
O: This was not as good of a dessert beer as I had hoped (I had researched some of the beers Great Lakes was pouring in the brewpub and this one sounded very interesting). I did not get the heavy notes of raspberry in the smell and taste, the raspberry was pretty muted in my serving. It was still a very nice porter and I enjoyed it. I found this one very easy to drink.

Served in a snifter at The Firkin.
Gotta give it up to Dave for pulling in some obscure Great Lakes kegs for us. This stuff pours a deep black-brown highlighted in garnet-ruby and topped by a short finger of tan foam. The nose comprises roasted malts, soft cocoa, light molasses, and a hint of vague fruitiness way in the background. Honestly, I didn't even know this had actual fruit in it until I employed my tongue... The taste continues the traditions set down by the smell, but then adds in a firm bit of black cherry. (It was at this point I asked Dave what I was drinking. Made some sense at that point.) The cherry is on the sweeter side, but not too far over there and never artificial or medicinal. Still, I feel the cherry flavor detracted a bit from the porter base, melding only with the cocoa and jostling for position with everything else. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a smooth feel. Overall, a somewhat surprisingly tasty brew, a healthy surprise for someone (yup, I mean me) who orders it just by name.

On tap at the brewery after the BA Blackout Stout release.
Arrived in a pint glass. Black with a sudsy head. Decent retention but leaves amazing lace.
Smells muted. Very faint raspberry greens and mild roasted malt.
The flavor is great though. The first sip is like a dry Edmund Fitzgerald at first. Char and roast with some slight coffee undertones come through. The comes a cool smooth fresh raspberry flavor. Sweet and a nice addition to the beer with the chocolate - reminded me of fruit pie with whipped cream.
Chalky mouthfeel, but it drinks soft and easy.
Overall this was much better than I was expecting. For what it is I really like it and would happily drink it again.

Oh Alberta Clipper. I love you with all the depths of my heart.
I hate that the carbonation level was too high. Full inch head on all 3 pours from the keg at Sams in Durham. God bless Amanda!
Smell has hints of porter, a good helping of dark chocolate, and loads of raspberries.
The taste is about as balanced as a dessert beer can be. Raspberries dominate, but the dark chocolate bitterness keeps all of that in balance. The porter comes in only to make its presence known. Doesnt want to take over. Ive always said this thing is scary good. Perfect dessert beer.
The sweetness from all of the raspberries and chocolate fade, leaving a clean finish that begs you to buy another. Holy hell I love this beer.

A- dark, black/brown, light mocha head that sticks around throughout
S- chocolate, slight fruit smell, very sweet
T- Raspberry taste is very obvious. The chocolate/raspberry combo fits very well together. This porter has a sweeter chocolaty taste than most.
M- this porter is very smooth and drinkable
O- Great Lakes Brewery is probably my go-to beer most of the time. I picked up a growler of this right when I saw it. Ed Fitz is hard to top, but I am very impressed with this brew. I have never had a bad beer from them. Overall, I would definitely seek out this brew again. 2 thumbs up Great Lakes!

A: dark brown, near black. Finger width tan head.
S: bittersweet chocolate, light coffee notes and subtle fruitiness. Awesome.
T: follows nose impeccably. The raspberries really add something to the chocolatey notes. Throw in the coffee flavor and you really have something.
M: started a bit carbonated but beautifully changed into the viscosity of a milk stout as it warmed. Great.
O: fantastic effort and glad i was able to catch this while it was available. It's like the dessert version of the Eddie Fitz. Kudos to great lakes.

Served on tap into a shaker glass at the brewpub
A- Poured black with a nice frothy mocha head that left tons of chunky lace
S- Sweet raspberries and chocolate, good but not very strong
T- Sweet raspberry, bittersweet chocolate, light roasted notes. Tastes like a raspberry truffle. Great balance among the raspberry and chocolate
M- Smooth, medium body, finishes dry
O- A really tasty porter with a nice twist by adding raspberries. Another great porter from Great Lakes.
