Served from tap into a COAST Willi. Poured a copperish yellow-orange with a one finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount slowly. Maintained phenomenal lacingthroughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, earth, caramel, caramel hop, earth hop, and subtle powdered chocolate. The flavor was of sweet malt, earth, earth hop, subtle chocolate, caramel, and caramel hop. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a decent brew. For the style this really wasn't a bad brew. However, nothing really stood out too much on this one though which was rather unfortunate. The chocolate note going on in this one was interesting, but just not enough to take it to a new level. Worth trying at least once if you get the chance but that's about it.

Pours a an amber color with a small tan head that falls to a ring pretty quick. Not much lace

Aroma is lightly toasted grain maybe hints of ripe fruits hints of toffee.

Taste like the nose toasted malts light caramel hints some ripe fruits. Pretty average bland amber ale nothing to call home about.

Mouthfeel is light side of medium sporting mellow carbonation.

Overall just a below par amber ale that many breweries go with.

Poured this 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. This Amber Ale poured a orangish color, produced a cream colored thick head, average retention and above average lacing. The aroma of this ale contains mostly malted grain with a hint of citrus. Medium in body, this ale had a base malted cereal grain which gives way to a slight touch of orange citric flavor. There is a noticeable grassy hop finish. The mouthfeel of this amber ale is very nice, most amber ales are very light- but this example is one of the "fullest" I have sampled. Great session beer, worth a try!

A - Pours with one finger of white foam on top of a clear, amber colored body. The head settles fairly quickly and leaves only light lace.

S - Sweet toffee malt, some red apple, and a bit of caramel in the background.

T - Toffee and toasted grain up front. Some light fruit yeast character in the middle with a bit of herbal hop character. More toasted malt in the finish with moderate bitterness and a slightly metallic caramel character that lingers in the aftertaste.

M - Medium-thick body, moderate carbonation, and a dry finish.

D - Nicely malty character with a nicely balanced finish. My only complaint is the metallic taste in the finish, but even that is fairly mild and doesn't quite ruin the experience.

Bottle poured into a pilsner glass. Light copper body with some red tint. A one-finger light tan head that dissipates farily quickly leaving a bit of lacing.

Very prominent malt aroma that seems lightly roasted. A bit of earthy hops in the background.

The flavor is nearly porter-like. Roasted malt flavor that works well with just a touch of sweetness and some light hop notes in the background.

Light to medium texture in the mouthfeel and no notice of alcohol. Overall, a very drinkable amber that puts a little twist on the flavor with the darker malt. I like it.

Pours a dark black/amber reddish color with some nice head
Smell: Nice smell a caramel malt and a slight amount of hops
Taste: Nice taste with a good caramel malt flavor. Finishes nice with a good balance and just the right amount of hop bitterness.
A very good amber ale which I recommend

Poured a cloudy amber with no head and very little lacing on top. Strong caramel malt aromas with some hints of nuts and mild sweetness. Taste is much the same - dark and amber malts, some candied sugar sweetness and some wood flavors as well. Body is light with a long malty finish. I was not overly impressed ... then again ... I am not a big amber fan either.

I had this beer poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

A: Hazy Amber/mild Golden Straw hue, creamy Off White Head, Great Lacing

S: Very Malty, mild Citrus, mild Chocolate

T: Smooth, Malty, mildly Sweet, Raisins

M: Well Carbonated, Medium Bodied, Dry, Malty Sweetness coating

Overall, probably one of the smoothest and great tasting amber ales I have had in quite a long time. I look forward to trying some of their other offerings.

A: clear dark amber/light brownish red with thin off-white head, leaving a very tiny lacing and layer on top of fine bubbles. I like that look ++.

S: smells like pale malt and bread and some banana. Maybe a bit of bitter hops.

T: heavy on the malts, not a whole lot else there. It doesn't have the complexity that the smell has. Solid, but not spectacular.

M: heavy carbonation, but not too heavy for the style. It's smooth like an amber and the carbonation pulls out the crispness. Light to medium body, not too sticky in the mouth but enough to allow the malt to stick.

O: decent beer - if they were on tap I'd get it, but it's not spectacular. I picked up a single 12 oz for around $1.50 at the Beer Exchange in Charleston.

A: Single finger very light brown head. Amber and touch of yellow. Clear.

S: Malty, touch of citrus but not much.

T: Very malty, a little tangy aftertaste. A little earthy. some caramel notes.

M: Light to medium body. Mild to moderate carbonation.

Overall: A pretty standard amber. Not my favorite genre.

A: The beer is clear amber in color and poured with a one and a half finger high off white head that slowly died down but lfet a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface for the entire duration. A moderate amount of carbonation is visible.
S: There are aromas of biscuity malts and citrusy hops in the nose.
T: The overall taste has a mild to moderate amount of bitterness from the hops and this is subdued from being overpowering from the underlying malts. There are some notes of caramel flavors and hints of sweetness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
D: The beer is very easy to drink and quite sessionable.

A: Sandy orangish color that almost reminds me of a sunrise orange. Nice lace of head that sticks to the glass.
S: Nice tangy acidic aroma. Sweet with hints of citrus and sweet malt.
T: Nice sweetly tangy fruit flavor that combines well with the bitterness of the hops. The beer also balances out by finishing with a great toasty malt flavor.
D/M: Very crisp and drinkable. Lightly carbonated and not too overpowering on the palate. Good session beer.

Had from a bottle at Hymans Seafood in Charleston.
Kind of a dark color for an amber. In fact it's only amber when held up to the light. Small 1/4" head from a slow pour but good retention.
Different aroma than what I'm used too with the latest ambers. More malty, sweet but not overdone. Kinda smells like sweet tea. I like it.
This is what I would consider a classic amber. Certainly in a different category than Big Hoppy Monster and Nugget Nectar. Very mild on the hops but a good beer neverless. Very balanced and easy to drink. Mouthfeel is medium to full. Good session beer to drink with a meal.

What is an Amber Ale anyway? After having the Palmetto Pale Ale, this seems to be the same beer. It has a darker color--Deep amber, clear. Modest head leaving little lace. Malty smell. This is a more bitter beer on the tongue than most Ambers. Has the body of skim milk.

Soft, light tan head that began to dissipate during the pour. Color was a slightly hazy medium amber. Nose had an interesting sweetness to it, like coconut and maple syrup. I must be losing my mind. Mouthfeel was medium with a slightly hoppy bite on the tongue. Finish had a dark cocoa taste. In an amber?! I must be out of my mind, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Defy me, I dare you!

My vacation beer purchased from Publix on Folly Beach...

How fitting..

A - 3.5 good, kind of a reddish caramel cover, I poured mine in a non traditional beer drinking glass - you know those only available glasses at the condo your staying in... It had a mild carbonation that left a small head that quickly dissapated. Didn't bother me as I still thought it appeared above average. Thus it's good.

S - the smell is sweet... it's good but not great, guess that makes it average.

T - taste is also good or I should say average, It's hoppiness isn't too strong for my taste buds, but yet it's stronger than what I normally go for. Plus there's a lack of "something" that normally would keep my interest in a hoppy beer. This something differs from beer to beer, and I'm going to write it off as it simply lacks originality of flavor. Good not great. Thus average.

M - mouthfeel is good. The appearent mild carbonation is just that, appearence, as this beer hides it's carbonation well but maintains it even better. The mouthfeel is crisp and tingly, very good..

D - drinkability is 3.5.. I say this because I like the way it feels but not so much the taste. Clear as mud?

Very good beer that's average to me but I think others may like it more... It wants to be a pounder I think but is a little harsh... yet it's not as original for a true beer drinkers beer.

Course I could just be intoxicated and rambling on my vacation....

Off the tap at the Charleston airport waiting to go home from vacation with my Russian bombshell (it was a bittersweet beer...) this one was a dusky amber color. The one-finger, off-white head did not retain very well but the lacing was consistent. The aroma was pleasant and balanced as on would expect of the style, solid cereal malt presence and some floral hops to balance but it definitely was sweet. The flavors were quite balanced with lots of caramel malt, some earthy malt and an appropriate amount of hops to balance. The mouthfeel was good, the body light/medium and the carbonation good. A very good session beer but by no means 'deep'.

On vacation on at Hilton Head...drinking this from a 12 ounce bottle poured into a Piraat glass (what I brought with me).

Pours a dark amber color with about a half finger head. After sitting a bit, the head has settled down. With some swirling, some good carbonation stands out...actually looks like a copper-yellow color.

Smells bitter...maybe lemon zest, hoppy citrus in the background, biscuit notes up front, maybe some light honey notes in the aroma...like a field full of clovers.

Taste is light, biscuity, malty, bready...good hop character in the background creating the perfect bitterness. I am surprised by this one. The bottle says only, "Amber" on it, but it tastes very similar to a good bitter. Some good floral notes here...light and refreshing.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with this one. A lot of flavor here, and finely bitter. I really am enjoying this local South Carolina brew...check this one out, and drink it cold.

Poured into a standard pint glass, clear copper brew has very little head that dissipates quickly.

The aroma is predominantly of caramel malt with a little bit of citrus hops coming through.

The hops come through much more in the taste, with hop bitterness up front with citrusy hop flavor and somewhat chewy caramel malt in the middle and finish. Carbonation is moderate to low.

Overall, very drinkable. I would definitely buy this again.

Poured into a glass from a 12oz bottle.

A - Poured a nice medium amber, forming a good 1 inch off white head. Medium amounts of lace cover the glass.

S - The aroma is dominated by the sweet malts, with not much else coming through.

T - Once again, the malts dominate the taste, coating the palate with a sweet malt taste. No hop presence is noticeable. Simple yet tasteful.

M - Medium bodied with a smooth clean finish. Medium amount of carbonation throughout.

D - I'm not a huge fan of amber beers, but suprisingly this one had a decent flavor, and thick enough to make me remember I wasnt drinking a BMC product. Easily a sessionable beer, and one I will surely be missing.

Another Christmas gift of "dark, tasty beer" from my friend in South Carolina. Dark amber color with a loose frothy head. Active prickle bubbles. Nice nose that is well balanced between the hops and the malt. The flavor present with the hops forward, but a strong malt character comes charging behind, and pronto. Balanced flavor with a slight hoppy aftertaste. Nice thickness to the mouthfeel. The flavor is a little bit off from the characteristics that I am pulling from this beer. My friend claims it is because of the brackish water on the coast that they have to brew with. . . perhaps he is onto something as the characteristics and the flavor are a little disjointed. I didn't experience it with the Pale Ale so who knows. Caramel and spice notes are hidden in the flavor. Its a pretty drinkable beer, but I would go ahead and say that because of its lighter body and overall feel this is more of a warm weather beer, meant to be served cold. Perfect for South Carolina, but it was perhaps out of place up here in the Minnesota winter when I did this review.

Slightly hazy orange, nice well sized off-white head, good retention and moderate amount of lacing.
Maltier aroma, caramel dominates and is quite pleasant; some fruitiness, minimal hops.
Medium bodied, fuller than the average; this solid example of the style is predominantly malty and caramelized, with a modest hoppy bite; grainy flavors; some fruitiness. Certainly not very complex, but very flavorful.
A very nice session beer.

Was served this in a rooftop bar near the Waterfront.
This beer has a good amber flavor with typical low-key malt flavors. Aftertaste is malty and light.

Mouth feel is average for amber/pilsners.

I had never heard of this beer until I honeymooned in Charleston, S.C. and would suggest it / try it again if I can find it in Houston.

This was a very drinkable beer (I had 3) and goes well on a hot afternoon with spicy food and sandwiches.

deep orange brown, decent lacing
smell is sort of a rusty caramel
taste is like the smell, plus a mineral water flavor and relatively firm bitterness
mouthfeel is slightly on the watery side, but acceptable
would be very easy to put a few of these away. each sip suggests that another be taken.

Had in a bottle at the Charleston Place Hotel in Charleston, SC. Poured an amber color with a slight head that faded shortly after pouring. There was carbonation visible on the side of the glass.

The smell was slightly sweet with a heavier hop note to it. But nothing really out of the ordinary for an amber.

Sat heavy on the tongue. Started sweet and then finished with a typical amber finish. The bitterness lingered.
