I had this on tap in the Charleston airport. Great look, awesome copper-brown color with a fluffy white head. Good kick to it with a nice hoppy flavor with malt and an easy finish. The mouthfeel is pretty much as expected for a pale ale, nothing particular of note.. Definitely an above average pale ale, really liked it.

A: poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass, honey amber colored with a large white head that dissipates leaving some lacing, clear

S: light hops, slight citrus, caramel malt

T: bitter hops, slight metallic quality, grainy two row pale malt flavors, piney aftertaste

M: medium body with higher carbonation

O: not stellar, better on the beach in Charleston

A - Bright, shiny copper brew. Two-finger off white head reduces to a solid cap. Some nice lacing does cling to the glass.

S - Not bad. Get a sense of sweet, bready malt backbone. Maybe even a hint of caramel. Floral hops with light citrus notes.

T/M - Light malts with just enough of a resinous hops bite. Finishes with a slight bitterness that makes it easy to take another drink. On the lighter side of medium bodied with solid amount of carbonation.

O - I enjoy APAs, but don't feel I do them justice in a review. I didn't find any major faults with this one, and wouldn't have any problem seeing it in an ice filled cooler next to some horseshoes.

Had this on tap at the airport in Charleston. Poured a "roasted orange" color with a rocky, sticky off-white head that coats the glass nicely. Aromas are somewhat muted, with a good dose of earthy, grassy hops dominating. Flavor initially was nice on the ol' palate, but the finish is something else entirely. Good balance gives way to a strange aftertaste...very metallic and unpleasant. Bitter finish, combined with the metallic taste made this one rather difficult to finish. Mouthfeel is above average and well on the creamy side. Drinkability takes a hit as a result of the not-very-nice finishing taste. Pretty average in my book.

Served this APA on tap in a pint glass. This APA poured a clear light amber color, produced a nice white head, average retention and left a decent amount of lacing on the glass. The aroma of this APA consisted of sweet malted grain and citric grapefruit. Medium in body, this brew had a foundation of sweet malted grain, and citric grapefruit. Nice session beer, nothing outstanding about this beer, but it is a good representative of the style.

Grabbed a few locals while on vacation in Hilton Head island...
Served in a half-pint taster glass.

The hops seem to be used all go bittering-- where's the aroma? Where's the flavor? Just bitter eh?! The malt profile is a little biscuity but with a caramel sweetness that ruins this beer a bit for me.

Feels a bit oily and undercarbonated. A bit light of medium bodied.

Weak head, poor retention, and no lacing. Clear golden body.

Overall. Meh. I love pale ales, but this is just not my take on the style. Pretty disappointed-- glad I only got 1 bottle as part of a mix-a-six!

This one is a bit one dimensional, but still decent. There is a fair bit of spicy hop tone on it that carries somewhat of a burn with it. Citrus tones seem hijacked by all of the previously mentioned. Like I said, decent. If toned down and matured up, might be nicer. Cask conditioning might do it some good too.
