Deep golden hue, white foam, a bit bubbly on the top.
The smell is strongly malty, for a pils. Some hay note and a light hop there, though.
A bit more dry in the mputh, with a not too good hop.
Not a beer to search, for sure, but for an industrial pils, there are worst beer.
A quite long bitterness in the aftertaste.

Presentation: Thanks to DoctorDog for this one. Poured from a 500ml brown bottle into a shaker pint glass. Label is fairly simple; white background with the three masted ship above the HANSA name. Mainly red, blue, and gold. Back says best before: 14.02.11. I wouldn't have expected such a shelf life from a pilsner.
Appearance: Pours with 2 fingers of nearly white head. This settles to a ring around the glass, leaving spotty lacing. The beer itself is perfectly clear and pale yellow. No sediment in the bottle.
Smell: Slightly spicy and herbaceous hop aroma with hints of lemony citrus.
Taste: Sweet upfront, almost sugary. Not much in the way of hops, a very mild bitterness in the finish, but almost imperceptible.
Mouthfeel: Average carbonation level. Body is okay.
Drinkability: A very unassuming drink. Not much here, but nothing offensive. Lacking the zest and floral hops you find in a good pilsner.

Found this in a can at the local grocery store for .35 cents. So why not, I enjoy Dortmunders as a style.
Pours a light golden pils malt tone, light rocky head leaving some lacing,
On the aromatics, actually better than expected. Light toasted maltiness, some minerally water notes, bitter hops come in and a bit of a "corn" smell but not overbearing.
Taste falls a bit short. The flavor you are greeted with is a predominatly sweet malty flavor, light hops, and finishes a bit watery. little citrusy bitterness in the finish
Drinkability is easy, this beer is an extremly light quaffer, but nothing to ask for in Dortmund. If I have found the PBR of the German selection so far, then so be it. I could drink this on a hot day. A really light drink.

A: Poured a bright, maize color with a thin, fizzy white head that left much to be desired. Visible carbonation was very light.
S: light sour corn and not much else.
T: The flavor was light pale grains with some sour bitterness, butternuts and light vinegar hints. Overall not impressed with not much flavor or else to speak of.
M: little rough and fizzy from the carbonation on the tongue. The texture was oily with some sour lemon bittering left behind.
D: A slight struggle to finish, not recommended and a hearty pass on this one. Not one that is enjoyable or up to par by german standards.

This must be an export label; all but two reviewers are Australian.
Poured the lot into a 500ml weissbier glass...Big foamy head, plenty of bubbling. Pale gold, looks good.
Sweet malt aroma, very faint touch of tinned corn
Innocuous flavour... almost a Euro lager that's been diluted. Subtle grassy notes, sweet, creamy malt flavour. Mild bitterness.
Thin bodied, "hollow" palate... Except for an upfront malt sweetness, the rest of the mouthfeel is almost a "dry"-style macro. No crisp finish... seems to just fade away, but does leave a note of hops as it dissipates.
$55 for 24 x 500ml is not bad value.... equates to $36 for a carton of 330ml bottles. I reckon if you substituted in some Pride of Ringwood, you'd end up with VB Original.
Hardly a pilsener... just a Euro macro...

500ml bottle into Pilsner glasses, poured a bright gold/straw colour with a nice even effervescence and a medium but reasonably fast fading head.
A little bit of sweet grainy maltiness on the nose and a small amount of DMS that seemed to fit nicely into the overall profile of the aroma. Just a hint of noble/spicy german hops
A medium full body with quite a creamy mouthfeel, fairly strong malt backbone with a light well balanced bitterness to finish it off.
Nothing stood out, but not because the beer was insipid, just pretty well balanced and kind of middle of the road.
Nice drinkable dortmunder pils. I wouldn't go looking for it, but if were stocking the beer fridge and I saw it on the shelf, I would grab another bottle.

Pours a very light straw color with a lot of white chunky head that sticks around for a good while. The aroma is a little yeasty, hoppy, with some woodiness, very pleasant. The taste is very hoppy and a little yeasty, not very sweet, but that's more or less what you expect from a pilsner. Clean finish. Mouthfeel is surprisingly creamy, even though there seems to be a hell of a lot of carbonation in this beer. All in all, a very drinkable beer. Very tasty, but not overpowering in any one aspect.

I was in Dortmund where the brewery is, so I figured that this would be the place to buy it.
Smell was hoppy, malty and some sulfur notes in the back.
Taste was excellent, a typically German bitter pils, lots of hop taste and aroma, very malty, which makes me want more. Although I like the specialty and session beers, these German beers show a lot of craftmansship and are fine examples of the art of brewing! Very good!

A true golden colour with a pure white head that quickly flqttened to a patchy covering.
Somewhat bland on the nose having no discernible qualities to describe.
The flavour is at odds with the smellThere is a pleasant malt throughout and finishes with the prerequisite citrus tang
It finishes bitter which is refreshing but does not have an overall crispness which takes away from its drinkability.
This is a relatively cheap imported beer and is a passsable brew.

pours extremely clear gold with a large foamy white head that dissipates rather quickly.
standard grassy hay aroma with just a trace of maltiness and diacetyl.
flavor of light malt sweetness with some bitterness following throughout. flavor mellows a bit as it warms leaving you needing to drink more to get that hop bitterness fix.
some diacetyl noticeable and a bit of slipperiness to the mouthfeel.
about average drinkablility for this. i wouldnt go out of my way to find another one.

one of the lower ranked beers on the scale for me when it comes to german beers. no doubt this is their most throwaway beer ive ever tried.
too light in color with a head that goes to nothing rapidly. no smell to speak of, marginal presence of straw, some malt and a litlle hops. the taste isnt much better. lacks any of the basic characters i expect from even an average geramn pils. lack of malt presence, or anything else, these some fizz, and a very dry hoppiness which doesnt add anything somply because theres nothing to compliment. totally missing the factors which make even the most basic of german lagers tasty and drinkable.
an entirely forgettable brew. i cant see how anyone could choose this over so many others from germany which are much better value, much more flavorsome, and therefore far better to be sitting around with the stein out having a session. after my first try, ive only ever had this if someones given me one. no way would i buy this instead of say, a standard lowenbrau or HB beer.

This pilsener poured a small white quickly dissolving head of small bubbles. There was very little lacing on the sides of my glass. It had a golden colored body. This brew was thin and watery tasting. There was a slight bitterness noted and this brew lacked character in my opinion.

This brew pours a large head of fine to large white bubbles that quickly dies down to a small head. It has a transparent carbonated straw yellow body with a mild malt aroma. The flavor is mildy hoppy with a slight bite that smooths in the finish. I started burping after only a few sips. It is not a bad brew, but nothing to write home about. It has enough character to drink with a meal and is a beer that you could drink a lot of in a given evening.

This is really confusing, there is a Hansa from Germany, South Africa and Norway. This category is for the German (Dortmunder Actien- as it says above) one so heres my rating. Very light in colour, slight hop aroma, sweetish start, very light and quite bland, very simple, easy to down, not very interesting.
