Pours a cloudy, dark golden amber coloration with a small, fizzy head and visible carbonation. Smells of doughy, caramel malt and estery fruit and spice, with a distinct banana note and hints of clove, with not a lot of hops being noticeable. Taste is a decent balance of doughy, caramel malt and strong banana esters, as well as some clove, nutmeg and hints of floral, citrus hops. Finishes with a medium/strong sweetness and some banana and clove lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
While this makes for a decent Tripel, it's not to my personal taste at all, being fairly sweet and boozy, with a very strong banana presence and little hops or bitterness coming through. I seriously never picked up this much banana in a Tripel, while I prefer the fruity esters to be more on the apple, pear, apricot side and think that a strong hoppiness is very important to the balance of a Tripel, but then again, this may just be really old, the best-by date is only 5 months away. At least there's a pretty noticeable spiciness to this, which I can apprecite, with distinct clove and lighter nutmeg and black pepper, while body and mouthfeel are fairly full as well.

L- A somewhat deeper amber than average, clear, pours with 5mm white head. (ps 5mins later holds very well).
S- The Smell is entirely from The Book of monastic Tripels. Some deeper fruits almost a scent of the ABV% as if one were sniffing a hunk of brandy-doused British Christmas pudding.
T- Ohhhhhh yes, this is superb, right up my street! This is solid Belgian monastic Tripel style. Spices, the deep intensified notes of roast dark fruits (x-ref Brit Xmas pudding) plus the 9.0 ABV% comes over loud and clear...
F- ... so it's something of a beast, but it balances oh so well. This is ideal for slow-sippin', it's too good to rush anyway.
O- What a fantastic beer this is, absolutely superb! Not cheap but nice for a treat.

Pours exactly as you would expect from a high abv tripel. Clear golden blonde, light effervescence and a moderate head. Head suffers quickly despite being in the correct Tongerlo tulip glass.
Aroma is alco heavy and almost medicinal, that said my hands were covered in fire lighter fuel at the time! There are some subtle forest fruit notes and nicely spiced.
Taste is a grower and definitely this brews' strong point, malty with a twist of fruit. First sip is very alcoholic but warms on you thereafter. Lovely warming aftertaste.
Feel is also good, helped by that winter warmer feel, hot sensation in the throat.
Overall, almost a 4 out of 5 beer, just not quite up to the same level as its rivals....a common theme I find for tongerlo.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a huge white frosty head that dissolves slowly and leaves some lacings.
Aroma is of banana, oranges, bread, vanilla, cloves and spices.
The flavour is sweet and fruity at the start with strong notes spices and herbs, while it is some weak notes of malts in the back. The finish is slightly bitter but it does not balance well with the sweetness. Aftertaste has a decent lenght but is not so comfortable. Fizzy carbonation with a medium body. Mouthfeel is smooth and soft.
All in all is a decent enough triple, but is far more better belgian triples out there.
