Notes:
Carls Porter maintains the principles and qualities of the original porter, with a sweet, spicy flavour and a characteristic, coal black colour. The porter has been brewed by Carlsberg since 1895 and poured for as long as people have enjoyed spoiling themselves.
Described as a Baltic Porter by Calrsberg.

33 cl bottle, served in generic tulip beer glass.
Near-black w/ creamy, brown head. Aroma is dominated by coffee and dark chocolate backed up by a crisp bitterness. Taste is more pronounced; firm, finely balanced, and w/ an impressive, assertive finish. Easy to drink, the alcohol being very well hidden.
A very solid, enjoyable imperial stout that's far better than most mainstream Carlsberg products.

Aroma: Roasty with a hint of chocolate, pleasant but not too complex. Appearance: Almost black liquid with a light brown head, looks beautiful. Taste: A light sweet and bitter taste, pleasant to the tongue and easy to appreciate. Palate: Quite light body for a porter with a creamy texture and a fairy long finish. Overall: For at beer that costs only $2 it is perfect and it really shows that even Carlsberg can make real quality beer. A decent everyday brew.

Hard to tell what style this one belongs to. According to the label, it's an imperial stout, but the name says porter. I'll treat it as a Baltic porter in this review.
A: Almost black with a big cappuccino-colored creamy head that stays around for a while before settling into a thin lid of foam leaving some lacings.
S: Pleasant but somewhat light smell, especially considering the style. Coffee and roasted malts dominate. Some chocolate, dark fruits and alcohol as well.
T: Plenty of coffee and roasted malts at first. Some tannins. I actually think it gets slightly acidic in some sips. Faint smoky aromas. Notes of chocolate and dark fruits, and a decent malty sweetness. Soy sauce and a slight salinity in the middle. The finish is surprisingly bitter with a bit too prominent taste of warming alcohol, and faint spices.
M: Moderate body, pretty smooth texture, medium carbonation. Would have liked a fuller body.
D: This is a very good porter, and considering the brewery it's really good. But it's a bit too simple and it lacks some complexity. Good have been more balanced as well, especially the taste of alcohol is somewhat to prominent.

1970s era bottle brought by yours truly to the Sea Of Floydster tasting - been waiting a couple of years for the right occasion to crack this beauty.
Amazingly, there was almost no oxidation in this beer, despite the age. Also, interestingly, called both a porter and an imperial stout on the label, and apparently a Baltic Porter by the brewery itself. I'm guessing Baltic Porter was not a recognized style in the 70s. Anyway, moving on.
Originally, I was under the impression that this was supposed to be an imperial stout. As such, I found it thin by current standards. Of course, no reason to mark down this beer for that - wouldn't be fair.
Chocolate and vanilla notes, some leather and a light astringency are present. All in all, a not overly complex beer that is still tasting quite good and has held up remarkably well. I had no high hopes for this beer, so I was pleasantly surprised. Nice.

Green 33cl bottle brought back from Denmark while visiting the 1st European beer fest, in Copenhagen. Best before 17 Apr 09, drank 23 Jan 09.
Poured into a Gordons Thistle shapped glass.
Lovely deep ruby red when held up to the light, otherwise it looks jet black, on top sat a deep foaming tan coloured head.
Burnt malts dominate the aroma, mushrooms maybe?
The burnt malts take over the taste too, rich and fairly creamy but with an overpowering dryness that masks any sweetness that I feel should be there.
Not the greatest Porter in the world, but not the worst.

Bottle acquired as part of the Mystery Beer Swap v2 from kramer17801 (thanks!). Bottle labeled 22.05.07 (I'm assuming this is a best before date).
Poured a dark, dark brown with a red tint and a larger sized off white head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, smoke and tobacco. Tastes of smoke, roast, very light chocolate, and a trace of dark fruits (but I'm reaching there). Lots of smoke and tobacco all the way around.

Bottle courtesy of Thewolf: Poured a deep clear black color ale with a medium foamy head with some good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light roasted notes is the most dominant notes. Taste is a mix between some roasted notes with a touch of sweetness. Medium body with some good carbonation. Easily drinkable but nothing is remarkable in this beer.

A: Two finger head with lacing. Dark black in color.
S: Smells as a nut porter might smell but is not overwhelming.
T: Very nice taste. It is not a sweet beer, but it is also not bitter. It is also balanced well as it is not so rich that it overwhelms.
M: Smooth in the mouth. Nothing discernibly wrong with the feel. Medium bodied.
D: For 7.8% ABV this is a very easy beer to drink, but I did not like the film that was left on the tongue. I found my self wanting to spit a lot.

Very dark black pour with somewhat sweet but pleasing aroma of roasted malt with overtones of chocolate. This is a very thick and smooth porter that never tastes dry until the aftertaste which gives it a cleaner edges and makes this beer more drinkable. This is a typical Imperial Stout at 7.8% ABV. Very pleasant experience.

The colour is pitch black (the liquid seem clear however). The impressive compact brown-beige foam is three fingers high.
The smell is lighter than expected. There are roasted notes of nuts and coffee, cocoa and chocolate cake. There are some lightly bitter notes.
The taste is roasted and sweet. There are notes of black coffee, sweet chocolate milk and some liquorice. The body must be described as full. The aftertaste got a long, almost sour bitter note with some heavily roasted hazel nuts. In the finish, there is a growing alcoholic mouthfeel.
The carbonation is rather strong: small bubbles tickle the mouth. Apart from that, the beer is creamy.
A enjoyable imperial stout, despite the porter name.

Carls porter is the only product that got my approval while touring the downtown of the danish capital.
The pour is dark and opaque with a scarce tannish head that's fizzier than it is consistent.
The smell is full of coffee and dry grains, making it a very positive contrast when it comes to the taste which in turn is much sweeter while still retaining a smokey character and the coffee-ish feel. the mouthfeel is pleasant and rich but not overwhelming, which makes it considerably drinkable. nice one there for Carlsberg.

Aroma is somewhat smoky and dry. Lots of roasted malt. Body is a deep black and he head is nearly three fingers thick, mocha colored and lasting. Lots of dark sweet malts. Big licorice notes, mild smoky flavors., stewed prunes and raisins. Head is amazingly resilient and has stayed tight and firm through most of the beer. Nothing macro or adjunct tasting about this. Very solid.
