Having done lunch at the Iron Hill in Wilmington, you know, the one on the other side of the big bridge, State Line is a convenient 15 minutes in the opposite direction of the 2 and a half hours I already am from home, which is fine, you know, as I enjoy the excursion, the fact finding mission, and it's always good to see who's got what...
First exit in Maryland, and a half mile or so down the road. It's looks, well, not very asthetically pleasing and when you get inside, your greatest macro fears are realized in stacks and in piles and in mountains. I was a-scared, it's true. But you close your eyes and run blindly through (screaming) and when you come out the other side, you're in a better place. You'll find a handful of coolers and some mini aisles with some good micros, and then you turn the corner and you see a bunch more coolers and all the kind imports.
There is a most extensive selection of American micros, from the New England states, through NYC tristate, and well through the mid Atlantic states. Starting up North and moving South... Geary's, Seadog, Allagash (Curieux), Shipyard, Smuttynose, Magic Hat, Otter Creek, Cisco, Mendocino, Brooklyn, Heavyweight, Riverhorse, Flying Fish, Weyerbacher, Victory, Troegs, Lancaster, Yards, Stoudts, DogFishHead, DeGroens, Clipper City, Wild Goose, Old Dominion, Weeping Radish and on and on. And of course, micros from beyond... Spanish Peaks, Anchor, Sierra Nevada, Flying Dog (Wild Dog Double Pale Ale), Avery, Rogue, North Coast, Anderson Valley (Abbey Ale), Pyramid, ACME, Three Floyds, etc. Large collection of Rogue bombers, and Avery, and more.
Imports... A nice assortment of Belgians, first and foremost. Yeah, yeah, Germans and English, too, but Belgians... Chouffe, Tripel Karmeliet, Caracole, about a half dozen beers from Brasserie Des Rocs including the Brune and the Triple Imperiale, Cantillion, Fantome, De Dolle (Oerbiers galore), Bon Secours, Brouwerij Verhaeghe Vichtenaar (Flemmish Red) and Echt Kriekenbier, Liefmans (Gluhkrieks).
To the rear of the store is a good glassware display in an area where they were doing a wine tasting with cheeses on the day we were there. In the front corner near the registers zone are cheeses, hot sauces, BBQ sauces, mustards, jams, syrups, crackers, pickles, peppers, olives and more. Go see!!! Up at the register, I'm told that right now, it's 15% off all Belgians. Whoop de do!! Good damn beer store. Worth the 15 minute drive.

Making this my new stop every time I ride into Philly. Best selection I've ever seen at a bottle shop, and the coolest part is you can take singles out of any package and buy them alone. If they distribute it in Maryland you can find it here.
The growler selection is awesome and cheap, 5 dollars for a 64 oz growler and I filled it with old Rasputin for 10 dollars.
Staff was super attentive and helpful. I asked if they had more of a certain item and a staff member came back 1 minute later with what I wanted no hesitation.

This place is awesome! They have an amazing selection of craft brews as well as imports. The store doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you get inside you are blown away. Granted anything is an upgrade from the stores in DE, because of distribution, but this place is my favorite. They have 20 taps to fill your growlers. The service is top notch and all the employees are eager to help you, if you need it. I highly recommend making a trip to State Line. They also have their inventory on their website and typically it is very accurate, if a price is listed for an item, that generally means they have it in stock.

Do not judge this book by it’s cover. Looks like your typical local liquor store from the outside, but inside this place is a gem. The selection is huge. Beer is somewhat organized by country. Has a great selection of American craft breweries and has the best import selection I’ve seen. Lots of meads as well if that is your thing. I knew what I was looking for, but they had a lot of people on staff and I was asked several times if I needed any help. The staff was very friendly and are happy to just talk beer if they aren’t too busy. Prices are reasonable and the free discount club takes an extra 10-15% off of everything as a great bonus. Definitely a bottle shop I wish I had in my backyard. I try to make the 2 1/2-3 hour round trip down from Central PA at least 2 or 3 times a year.

Robert, you have quite a place. My one friend took me here because he was shopping for kegs and other essential items that only State Line can provide at a steal. I highly recommend visiting this venue if you have an opportunity to do so. You can explore this place for a couple of hours and you still won't uncover everything.
Thanks goes out to Robert and the staff for such a great experience.

From the road, you would never know what a gem this place is. Looks like a small warehouse, but when you walk in you are greated by coolers, a domestic craft section and a huge import craft section. If you are into import crafts, their selection is tough to top. The domestic craft section is solid and has a pretty good local selection as well. The staff is knowledgable and is willing to reserve or order something you may be looking for. The e-mail list provides a discount that makes the prices very affordable. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

Wow! All I can say is this place blew me away compared to what I've seen so far.
A: Moments after I walked in a staff member was walking by and asked if I was looking for anything in particular or if I needed help. Everyone else seemed super friendly.
Q: LOTS of great quality stuff, shelves were pretty nicely organized and arranged.
S: Service was amazing. Two of the gentlemen that worked there were more than happy to answer my questions since it was my first time there. Super friendly, quick to answer my questions, and knew what they were talking about. Also had another guy ask if I was looking for something in particular and if he could help in any way. (Maybe it's because I'm a girl, or maybe it's because I looked lost due to the large selection - who knows? Haha.)
S: Really large selection with a lot of domestic and import beers. Found things that I've only seen at either World of Beer (in Arlington) or in Germany. I was impressed with the selection.
V: If you join the discount club you get a few bucks off. I got $5 off a sixer and a 750ml. Not much, but I was happy.
