Pours very cloudy and brown with some gold color. The cask version skips a highlight of this on regular tap or bottle - the almost champagne like bubbles. Smells of citrus - especially orange and some lemon. Excellent hefeweizen taste with orange present again and a refreshing overall flavor.

Unlike the standard Schneider Weiss, this one is cloudy blonde colored, topped with a thcik creamy head. The aroma brings to mind lemon pastries and a kiss of clove. Then the beer takes off...taste it...lots of good stuff. There's lemon, banana, nutmeg, banana bread, and a touch of cinnamon. With a soft and gentle mouthfeel, it helps bring this hefeweizen to a well-earned spot among the elite. Just a great beer!

I am not a big fan of this style, but excited to drink this. I haven't had a light beer in a while, as I have been on a stout kick lately. Oh, and an IPA kick. But I am always on an IPA kick. I did like reading about this brewing company and the history behind this beer. That is what makes beers exciting.

Reading the tasting notes, I am looking forward to smelling and drinking this beer. I recently had a bottle of Spine Tingler that had tasting notes explained as bubble gum… and it was like drinking liquid bubble gum. I liked it. I am hoping this has some of those same characters. I am also curious to see if there is much vanilla, as styles like this usually don't provide me much vanilla aroma or flavors. Should be fun. Let's drink, people!

In the Glass: Very impressive pour. I didn't pour this fast as I was worried about a possible sediment in the bottom of the glass, but there is a really nice head and I could smell this from the second I started pouring. The aroma is not overwhelming, but has a lovely expected scent to it. I have said this before, and I will say this again… not a big fan of this style. But I am going to give it a shot!

Nose: This smells like a hefe-weizen should. I am not sure why this bottle has a - in the middle. I have always spelled it hefeweisen, but the - does add a certain foreign appeal to it. It has a musky/dirty aroma, too. Something that makes me feel like I am in Europe walking the streets late at night chugging one more beer before bed. I do enjoy a beer with a little earthiness in the aroma.

Flavor: Pretty boring at first, but has a nice punch toward the end. It does have the expected hefeweizen flavor profile, but nothing to write home about. The burp is pretty boring, too. (You will notice, as I write my reviews, that I mention the burp. I only mention the burp when and where it happens. Sometimes that happens in the flavor and others toward the aftertaste. But if I burp while reviewing, I will always mention the experience.) A second drink doesn't leave me too excited.

Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel is pretty boring. At first, it is cold (right from the fridge), thin and then finishes as such. Really, I don't want to even finish my glass. I can see why people like this style, but I just don't. This is/would be a good style for people that don't like craft beer but want to experience the flavor of a craft beer. The finish is thin, and pretty much boring. It's there, and gone again.

Aftertaste: What aftertaste? There isn't much of an aftertaste at all. As fast as you take a drink, it's gone again. A beer like this might taste better in the summer, and while outside at a concert or a sporting event. But this is not something I would order out nor something I would buy again. Maybe my palate is changing, but this is not a good beer. Cool story, and a lot of history here… but that's about it.

Sorry Schneider Weisse… but I don't like you!

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a Schneider-Weisse weizen glass. Deducted half a point from the appearance for the pain in the arse head.

Pours a cloudy yellow/gold colour with a massive head.

Smells fresh, yeasty and malty.

Tastes of very light malts, balanced with delicate hops giving a slight lemony zing to it, creating possibly the most refreshing drink i've ever had. The mouthfeel adds to this, it's thinner than many hefeweizens but works well with the lighter taste.

An absolutely perfect (for me) hefeweizen.

Walking around the streets of Munich, i was happy to have stumbled blindly into the Weiss Brauhaus where I had my first Schneider Weiss Tap 1 Mein Blonde... The beer served in it's appropriate glass had a nice golden glow and the taste was very smooth and delicious. The best beer I had in Germany.

500 ml bottle, lately labeled as "Meine blonde Weisse". Poured into a "Schneider Weisse" weizen glass.

Color is cloudy orange, head is large and foamy but doesn't leave much lace.
Fruity aroma. I can smell yeast, citrus, orange and wheat.
Medium body and well carbonated.

I have tried all beers from Schneider and although I like Tap 4,5,6 and 7 more than this one, it still is a very good Hefeweizen.

Poured into a weizen glass.

A-Poured a thick, white, 2 finger foamy head. The color is brassy amber with the classic weizen cloudiness. The lacy sides never stopped.

S-Earthy, cloves, spice, lemon zest, and yeasty wheat. It was nicely balanced.

T-Sweet malt, lemon, cloves, pepper, fruit and vanilla spice.

M-Light and refreshing with a moderate amount of carbonation.

Overall-A great hefeweizen for all occasions. I have tried many hefe's and this one is the best. Just perfect for its style and well-balanced.

Schneiderweisse hefeweizen

A - Pours a hazy deep golden color. Full and froathy light off white foam on top. Fizzles out not long after.

S - classic hefeweizen characteristics. Banana and clove dominate but there is a much stronger malt base which sets it apart. Dark bread and hints of vanilla round out the nose.

T - bready malty flavors up front but the fruit esters enter quickly as well. The flavors of the tropical fruit and sweet bread meld into banana bread. Phenols come out more mid palate with clove and pepper along with what seems like some earthy hop presence for balance.

M - medium bodied with very high champagne like carbonation.

O - a benchmark of the style. Incredibly flavorful and a wonderful companion to dozens of foods.

Light orange to amber in appearance with a big, foamy white head that eventually settles to a thin lacing.

Wheat and citrus to begin with, the is the usual hefeweizen banana and spice notes that follow this up and a touch of bubblegum as well. I could detect some background sweetness and fruity notes and yet more spice.

Spicy and bitter citrus with a strong banana and clove taste following this. There is some fruit, it hints at some grapefruit as well and there is a bitter (for a hefeweizen at least) finish.

Low to mild carbonation with this one and a bitter citrus palate that finishes quite wet and creamy whilst the beer has a medium body.

Very nice beer and slightly different to a lot of other hefeweizens in the fact that the flavours are a little more bitter and with more citrus than I expected but the beer itself was a good one.

A:
The liquid is hazy with a shiny yellow color and a tinge of orange. The white head crowns thickly by comprising plenty of sudsy foam clinging before gradually subsiding to thin layer of lacing. Medium carbonation pushes many bubbles to rise constantly by mid-tempo towards the top.

S:
So mellow by good combination of banana ester, fresh floral fragrance and prominent malty trait, malt is a big boy in here by covering throughout the smelling sensation while clove imparts a touch of spice to unite.

T:
The taste is rich, mellow yet balanced. Wheat and sweet malt pave the way to welcome fruity ester glistering by banana and citrus. Spice is also there to bring some balance to that fruity sweet. Hop is hidden in but ready to flash with some ghost-like bitterness.

M:
Medium-bodied with silky smooth mouth feel from its lively carbonation that also yields purely refreshing touch through the palate, finish is dry.

O:
This is just great Hefeweizen and nothing more to describe, my one of the favorites in weizen line.

Magnificent cloudy orange-amber body with perfect white head, leaving thick laces. Banana flavour, clove hints. Invigorating taste of bananas & mild malt, rather sweet and smooth. The fact I haven't found too many facets of the taste slightly upsets me. Fruity aftertaste, without lollipop harshness.

Schneider's Meine Blonde weiss is an exceptional hefeweizen in the brewery's portfolio that should be more available in the US, given the brewery's existing representation; it is sad that availability is non-existent outside of Europe given the quality of this beer. Comparable to a lighter version of the brewery's "Unser Original" or a slightly darker, deeper Weihenstephaner, this is a beer dense with flavor, yet still somewhat light and accessible, focusing on banana, yeast, and bread qualities.

Pours a very tall head, composed of small to medium-sized bubbles, that has fairly long retention of several minutes, eventually descending to a 0.5cm cap atop the beer. As the head is exposed to air, it "dries," creating a meringue-like effect at the top of the beer. Leaves fairly excellent lacing along sides of glass, which is renewed with each swirl. Body is a bright copper-orange color, with pale yellow highlights; holding beer up to light does not reduce coloration much at all. Body is opaque from suspended yeast, with very visible carbonation.

Aroma is rather bright and forthcoming, of banana esters, yeast, and meyer lemon citrus tartness/sweetness being dominant. Secondary scents of apple cider and bubblegum.

Taste is delicious, with notable wheat malt, subdued meyer lemon citrus tartness, banana esters, and yeast on the front of the tongue. Mid-palate picks up pleasant sweetness from malt, apple cider flavors, banana bread flavor, and continued yeast presence. Aftertaste of residual wheat malt sweetness, banana bread, and a bit of tangy flavor from malt and yeast choices.

Beer is medium bodied, with ample carbonation to propel this pleasantly along the palate. Finish is dry, inevitably leading to the desire for more.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Feb 2012, so it's slightly out of date. ABV is stated as 5.2%. Picked up cheap from my local beer specialist. I'm a little confused about the difference between this and the original (Tap 7), but here goes.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A deeply translucent golden-amber with a ton of yeast. Yields a large fluffy head of white foam with decent retention; this eventually settles and dissipates. A rich, sweet aroma of bananas, cloves, marzipan, wheat malt and dry yeast esters. A subtle background fruitiness that is hard to place.

Tastes of wheat, with a bright, fruity character and a dry finish. Notes of bananas, cloves and earthy yeast. A hint of stewed hops and a faint staleness in the background. Mouthfeel is smooth and full-bodied, but dry and lacking in carbonation. Coats the palate. Rather astringent. Aftertaste of bananas, wheat malt and yeast esters.

Not bad, though perhaps not the best weissbier I've tried. All the expected flavours and aromas are abundantly present, but the dry background staleness detracts from the taste. The flat body doesn't help either - I was expecting a live beer to be more effervescent. Still, a solid brew with a nice character. Worth sampling.

At the time of this review, this is #5 on the "Top Beer - Hefeweizen" list on beeradvocate.com. Served in a weizen glass. Beer is yellow and hazy, high carbonation, nice head, a little small, retention low. Some lacing.

Aroma is banana, complete banana.

Beer is wet and light to medium in body. Moderate carbonation on the palate, sweet, a little grainy, nice fruits and a great palate with a nice finish, This is almost exactly like Weihenstephaner, meaning this was very good and I'd have it again.

APPEARANCE: Beautiful cloudy straw colour. Ever so slightly dark. Head uncharacteristically modest for a Schneider Weisse.

SMELL: I can smell banana a mile off. Tangy wheat. Touch of charcoal as well.

TASTE: Crickey, where's the flavour? It's dry, tart and watery. No sweetness whatsoever. Some spectacular stuff going on at the back, like marzipan and fruit salad, and subtle cloves, but literally the most pallid upfront flavour I've ever had from a beer. I'm slightly parched and more receptive than normal, and yet my tongue is begging for flavour. Pouring in some gunk from the bottom of the bottle I'm getting some beautiful clove tones, but what's the point if there's nothing to compliment them.

OVERALL: Very surprised and disappointed. Some really fantastic, complex stuff going on in the background but virtually no upfront flavour, just a slightly sour, fizzy straw flavour. Really weird beer from an otherwise world class range of beers.

A - one finger of foamy white head tops a bright amber body, lively with effervescence.

S - Beautiful hefe pungency, banana, coriander, clove, yeast with some stale mustiness.

T - Sweet caramelized banana, lots of wheat and coriander.

Caramel yellow pour, little head.

Smells of banana, hope and spice. A little bitterness but it's refreshing. Sort of blankets and soothes the tongue. It's on the thinner side but not enough to take away from it. It's a simple, wheaty beer. Good for fans of the style since it does it so well.

Cloudy, rusty golden in color, with a sizeable and fine head of white bubbles. No lace.

Smell is citrus, bubblegum, and clove. Typical, and inviting.

Taste is sweet at first. I get wheat, a hint of orange peel, and some clove for spice. Couldn't ask for more, or better.

You'd expect a Bavarian hefe to be as good as it gets, and this one doesn't disappoint. Right there next to Weihenstephaner, in my book.

Poured from tap at Prost Portland into Schneider branded hefeweizen glass.

Pours with about as gorgeous a head as one could ask for. About 2 inches of magical froth fades to a thick white lace. Hazy straw hue. Perfect.

The most amazing thing about this hefe is the nose. Unlike many others, this one has a LOT going on. The aromas are nicely delineated with banana and clove dominating up front. After a moment one finds the Belgian style yeast and bread note framed by a mild straw aroma with pepper and a hint of anise. I'm content to sit at the bar like a freak with my nose in the glass getting a foamy nose tip!

Flavors are nice and welcoming with yeast dominating. There is more fruit on the palate and a hint of spice and straw all coming together. Good palate, but the nose was much more impressive.

Body is light but the texture is good. Great balance of alcohol, acid, and malts. Finishes with a medium intense finish focused mostly on malt and yeast.

Overall one of the big three of the German hefeweizens (along with Weihenstephaner and Franziskaner) and deserving of being ranked up towards the top with those brews!

Poured from bottle into tulip glass. Pours honey yellow color and a white head that sizzle and goes away fairly quickly. A bit light in the aroma for me, there is just not much there. Malty, soury base with hints of grape, apple, bread and yeast. Medium body with high level of carbonation throughout. A nice hefe treat!

A cloudy light amber tone topped by a thick dense crisp white head. A very malty smell. Just what you should expect from a German Hefe. The taste doesn't let down either. A good strong malt presence followed by a crisp clean taste of water. Feels a little off, maybe too bubbly. Over all a very good Hefeweizen.

This one slipped by me somehow over the years.

It pours with the typical out of control head but has a very clear body. Very deep gold in color.

Nose is citrus spice and bread.

Taste is very tart at first. Orange and citrus mix then there is a pretty strong malt finish. The taste profile is really good since there are so many phases to each sip.

Mouth feel is good as usual. Nice bite and a slightly slick feel.

Way drinkable.

Appearance - The beer pours a murky light brown/amber colour with a very large frothy white coloured head. I can't see much carbonation due the darkness/haziness of the beer and there is some very nice lacing running in stages down the sides of the glass. The head lasted for several minutes before it began to dissipate.

Smell - bananas, bubblegum, wheat, cloves , malts

Taste & Mouth - The beer is perfectly doesn't have a whole lot of carbonation and it feels very light on the palette. Most of the taste is made up of bananas, wheat, and cloves. There are also some malts and light hops. The beer finishes with a refreshing malty banana aftertaste

Drink - An extremely easy drinking and refreshing beer that is a must try. Would be perfect in the summer months.

A: Dark apricot colored. Cloudy beer with little to no head.

S: The yeast dominates the smell on this beer. Toast, nuts, earthy scents in the background. Mostly just a belgian yeast scent.

T: More yeast. Again, some hazelnut, toast in the background with a bit of hoppy resin.

M: Medium body with sharp carbonation.

D: Seems like it doesn't really fit the model for Hefe.

I've been meaning to review this one for a little while now, just grabbed my only bottle out of the cellar. So lets see what he have.

Look: Very deep and thick shades of brown, amber, orange, and yellow with a big billowy head that looks like a sudsy cloud. Very pleasant looking

Aroma: Very spicy aroma, cloves and coriander predominantly with a floral presence and a hint of bananas. Not bad overall

Taste: Slightly tart and spicy flavor at first hops and cloves make themselves known right away but they don't showboat. The spiciness then slips into a light and laid back nutty bread like malt characteristic, and it does taste like banana bread to an extent and it also exhibits a slight taste of ginger. Pleasant flavor all in all

Mouthfeel: Smooth clean and crisp with a slight tingling on the tongue throughout. Very Well don on the feel, I'm tempted to give it a 5 but its not quite there for me.

Drinkability: Extremely drinkable! Its smooth, light in the mouthfeel, very refreshing, and is great as a summer cool off. The 2 deterrents for me were the slight sour taste and the tingling on the tongue. Other than those drinkability was perfect.

Quite a good beer all in all, I think I've come to realize though that even though I like Hefeweizens, they aren't a style that I'd drink regularly. Still a very good beer all in all though, full of flavor and a nice example of a good German Hefeweizen.
