Served in a hefe-weisse glass. Glass of cold water on the side to sip from periodically.

Appearance: As served the beer was a rich hazy gold color with a 1 ¼” white head that left some lacing and rings as it slowly receded. Sipping left partial rings and thick legs of lacing and there was a ring and some foam for most of the beer.

Smell: The aroma was soft and subtle but definite with some floral character mixed in along with the clove, banana and some nutmeg.

Taste: The flavor is predicable from the nose and was delightful, having some gentle spicy clove character, some well behaved banana and a tinge of nutmeg with what seemed to be traces of orange and lemon leading to an earthy bitter end.

Mouthfeel: The mouth feel was on the light side of medium bodied and very smooth with some lightly prickliness from the consistent, persistent on-going carbonation. The finish was medium length and began with a bit of floral character and malty sweetness that became gently bitter and slightly dry at the end.

Drinkability and Overall Impression: This was a delightful beer for sipping and I didn’t want it to end. I’ll gladly have another and that that in a blind tasting side-by-side with Wiehenstephaner this beer might well take home the prize. My overall impression is of a very well made hefe weisse beer that can stand among the best.

This might have been the best hefe I've ever had. From a gravity cask into a weissen glass, the beer was hazy gold, fairly thick white head, a little lacing. Intense floral aroma, like being in a field of wildflowers, also some fruit and spice. Sweet malt taste, lemon/orange, with some sour spiciness at the end. A wonderful, refreshing beer.

Have had this beer previously on tap and out of the bottle, but the gravity fed version I had at Max's during their German beer festival was a revelation.

The beer pours a hazy gold color with OK head retention and lacing. I think this beer had been tapped for a day or two before I got my glass, so I was actually a bit surprised and impressed by how attractive it appeared. On the nose.... mmm.... this is as good as it gets in a weizen/hefeweizen. I get huge aroma of smoked banana, clove and nutmeg. This beer smells gorgeous, and the flavors on the palate completely replicate the nose. The amount of spice in this moderately sweet beer is astonishing. If anything, this beer tastes even better then it smells. In addition to the spice, this beer has the flavor of an orange vanilla icecream popsicle. I also get some light tartness and wheatiness, which mixes well with the spice and vanilla orange. As expected in a gravity fed beer, this beer is incredibly smooth, long and creamy, with a finish that approaches perfection. Drinkability is exceptional, with the alcohol in this beer barely an afterthought.

This is clearly wheat beer perfection, or at least as close as I'm ever likely to come to it. An absolute treat. Very, very impressive.

Poured into a weizen glass. The beer pours clear golden with a white head and lots of visible carbonation. The aroma is the classic banana and clove smell you get from a hefeweizen along with the wheat. The taste follows the nose. The banana and clove aren't extremely forward, but are there. There's some breadiness from the malt and some back end hop bitterness. The body is light with strong carbonation. The finish is clean and this is a very drinkable beer. This is an excellent beer.

A: Dull gold with almost a miniscule hint of green, first pour is relatively filtered, but I see lots of sediment in the bottle. 1 finger of creamy slight orange tinge head. Medium carbonation.

S: Bready, yeasty, bananas, cloves, Belgian like yeasts, grass, pheonols, orange peel.

T: Wow. Complex, and it tells quite a story. First I get a yeasty burst like Belgian style yeasts much like you'd find in a tripel, then bubble gum and coriander, pheonols galore, back to a yeasty bready light body that's dry and almost champagne like, then again and intense hit of phenols, orange peel, coriander and Belgian yeasts. Little bitterness. Light sweetness throughout.

M: Medium light body, medium high carbonation, dry finnish.

O: I am so glad I found this one, and got it inspite of the price here in China (almost 8 bucks for half liter). Lots of complexity and beauty. I love this brewer, and Tap 6 is one of my all time favourites (their Weizenbock). This one is renewing my interest in Hefeweizens, which I’d lost after so many poor examples of little heard of cheap German imports that I suppose are duping some Chinese.

500ml bottle (Best Before 22/12/13), poured into a pokal/weizen like glass.

Cloudy orangey brown colour with some carbonation rising steadily. Pours a thick frothy off-white head that subsided to a thin cap, slightly sticky lacing.

Fruity hefe aromas, slight very lightly toasted bread, something like a proper pale cloudy apple juice and brown sugar/honey.

Tastes like a loaf of bread left to soak up a few bottles of hefe. Some very lightly toasted bready malt yeast & wheat, the effervescence and hop spice hits just afterwards, and the honeyed appleness comes through in the finish. It's a tasty refreshing beer with just a little alc. presence. Medium body and med/high carbonation.

This is somewhat like Weihenstephaner Vitus to me (more of an apple/pear and caramel), and at a lower ABV far more drinkable. I'd easily take this over Vitus in future.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle (Schneider's older bottle design, so no idea on the age)

Bright hazy orange with a giant tan head. (I do recommend swirling this one before pouring to get all of the yeast in the glass)

Very distinctive aroma. Citrus, spices, wheat bread and then more citrus.

Flavor: Lots of spices (clove, nutmeg, peppercorn, a little bit of hops but they are very subdued), wheat bread (maybe with some sourdough notes), maybe a little bit of white wine and honey too.

I think the ABV is higher than the bottle indicates. Lots of nice warmth.

Medium to full mouthfeel. Smooth but a little tingly from the citric notes. Appropriate carbonation.

Gloriously good.

A-pour is slightly hazy straw/gold with a frothy medium size white head , lots of lace along the weizen glass after ever sip

S-hints of fermented yeast , earthy grassy , herbal , some similarity to a pilsner

T-smooth crispness , a bit of a hoppy bite on the swallow , mostly banana & clove

MF-lots of carbonation , medium body , still some bitterness lingering on the back of the palate

Ov-ok/good beer , haven't had many organic beer's or this style , I will try again

Wow. An extremely good beer. Hats off to the makers.Pure German ecstasy.

Schneider Weisse Wiesen Edel-Weisse Tap 4 is just an overly awesome ale.

Poured into Weihenstephan traditional hefe glass. An infinitely thick head. It takes at least 3 pours to empty the bottle. A very fluffy and softy like white colored head with infinite retention. Dazzling sticky lacing on the sides left by the receding head. Color inside the glass is a very hazy pale strawish golden color. Translucent. A lot of bubbles seen rising up vigorously. Wow.

Aroma is moderately in strength. Sweet banana esters upfront combined well with clove heavy phenols. This is one nice combination to have if done right. Very slight noble German hop aroma. A good amount of yeast mixed with slight wheat sweetness.

Flavors are even better than the nose and a lot different than some very good hefes. The usual banana, clove and wheat flavors tune well with the cascade and noble hops to provide a nicely refreshing slight hoppy bitter touch to this beer and makes it different. The finish still remains semi dry however. A lot of spicy flavor that is mild by my standards but typical hefe stuff.

Mouth feel is nothing sort of a well made hefe. Nicely balanced light to medium feel. A lot of effervescence upfront. High on carbonation. No warmth and astringency.

This is an epic brew. Certified USDA organic. Made with cascade and hallertauer hops. Highly recommended.

A - Nice hazy yellow orange color; decent head that sticks around for a bit

S - I can sense that this will have a lot of clove in it; not my favorite flavor, but I can deal

T - Wow, clove bomb

M - nice carbonation; not over-done; really like it; clove aftertaste sticks around a bit much for me

O - not my cup of tea; too much clove flavor for me; will not be revisiting this

Pours a hazy dark golden with a collar of white head that has adequate retention. Aroma of banana and yeast, green apple and pepper and a little smoke. Flavor is soft and smokey with wheat and clove, some pepper in the finish. Medium thick and moderate carbonation.

Three finger head, straw gold body!

Smells of banana and malt!

Tastes of clove, banana, and malt!

Warming mouthfeel!

Overall, this is an interesting example of the many directions hefeweizen can go! Schneider is an excellent producer of the style, and truly does it again with this beer!

I'd highly recommend this beer to anyone with experience with hefeweizens. This is not for beginners or the uninitiated.

500 mL btl poured at 3C, tasted at 8C

Deep cloudy and rich orange pour with a thick dense head the settles to 2 fat finger and is maintained by healthy and constant carbonation.

Smells of musty hops, spicy mulled and funky citrus and tropical fruits. hints of coriander, clove. Some activated lemon and wheat-bready yeast fermenting alcohol.
At first the funk is overwhelming and off putting, but after warming up a little it softens and blends with oily citrus fruits.

Sharp citrus based acidity. Sticky spicy sweetness plays well against a lively carbonation. Sweet mandarin and tangerine with hints of wood and crisp lemon tartness balances this summery beer completely. Semi-sour notes counters an otherwise overriding funk that would likewise be unbalanced and overbearing.

Mildly juicy, sticky sugars with only hints of the residual. Crisp but not tight acidity and lightly wooded dry hop finish elevates the clingy funk and citrus along along with fine carbonation.

Well balanced and wheaty as a stack of wheat cakes. Citrus in all the right ways and proportions. The complexities are astonishing and frankly a little much for me at the moment( mainly of the dough-yeast-wheat depths of ridiculousness). As it warms the funk is just right and less dominant than when first poured; the alcohol warming effect is also increased in just the right amount.
Pour, drink, be merry, repeat.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a Schneider-Weisse weizen glass.

Pours a cloudy yellow colour with a pretty nice head.

Smells very fresh and grassy.

Tastes extremely light, like a hefeweizen but with more herbal hops, almost minty in fact, though more pleasant than it sounds. Less yeast than normal.

Overall a really nice beer to drink.

A: Light golden yellow and orange hues, with a very thin layer of white head. Lots of carbonation bubbles. Slow falling lacing that doesn't stick. Much clearer than I would have expected.

S: Not much nose. There is a faint hint of something that might be flowery, but that's it.

T: It has a familiar banana flavor to it, but the beer is a bit harsher than a Hefeweizen normally is. There is a light cardboard taste to the beer as well (oxidation?). Light bitterness in the aftertastes. The signature banana flavor is very nice and mellow, but I don't get much yeast or wheat flavor from the beer at all.

M: The mouthfeel was a bit rougher than what I'd expect. There is a rather harsh twang from the bitterness. The beer is not as smooth as I'd expect either.

O: Overall I found it to be very below average. It could be that this is because I'm drinking an imported bottle. I probably wouldn't buy it again, unless I was drinking it in Europe or perhaps on-tap in a bar. My bottle is stamped 120525 so I'm guessing it was bottled May 25th 2012? If so it probably lost a lot of flavor over the 7 month period.

500ml bottle poured into my seldom used matching Schneider Weisse glass 16/12/12

A murky dark orange with loads of bubbles and a massive head that sits over the glass for a few sips, still a thin layer of foam at the bottom and lots of random lace, looks the part

S dried and busied banana with just a hint of peach, cloves and spices with some bread, bubble gum, cereal and orange peel, smells strong and about what I expect from the style but with some leafy herbal hops

T some more citrus and hops but less of the yeasty hefe aspects, still spicy and fruity but less banana notes, good but it smelled great

M less bubbles then I could see but that still leaves plenty, a little thick for the style but no issue, spicy on the finish

O a hoped up hefe that hits all the spots, great nose and I'm just missing the hot sunny day

not the best I've had from these guys but pretty solid and I like having a reason to bust out my foot tall glass

A - first half of the bottle poured mostly clear golden, tall white head retained very well at a finger
S - big bready aroma quickly followed by banana clove yeastiness, a light bubble gum aroma, definitely pleasant
T - a mix of classic hefe esters, strong mineral quality, crisp leafy hops, and bready maltiness brings up the rear in a big way
M - medium to light, decent carbonation, bready for a while but turns dry towards the end
O - definitely pleased with this offering, this brewer always delivers the goods and they have not dissappointed here

Pours cloudy honeyed gold with a decent foamy white head. No lace.

Nice clove and banana notes, with some toasted wheat. I almost expected more here.

terrific balance. Nice sweet wheat with a hint of husk and toasted grain. SOme fruit balanced by light bitterness and a yeasty quality. Light bitter and grain in the finish Terrific.

Light bodied with good carbonation.

Overall, my favorite so far of this brewer's offerings. A wonderful version of the style.

You can tell by the appearance it's going to be good. It pours a rusty orange; very cloudy with a yummy haze of ingredients floating in it. The head was only a finger thick, but had decent retention.

Killer smell with the star being the tangy wheat and the supporting cast being the citrusy Cascade hops and the standard banana and clove scent.

The hops didn't translate into taste, but everything else did. From the second the liquid hits your lips you pick up peppery wheat and slight gummy taste. The hops are seeming there only for scent.

I really enjoy the twang of this style. It's not really sweet, but it kind of is. It's not really spicy, but it kind of is. Despite the tangy twang, it's very smooth. Medium bodied with a nice cleansing, dry, crisp finish that screams for you to take another sip.

World class as far as I'm concerned. Would love to have another 500 ml.

Poured into a chalice. The color is hazy golden. There is a great off-white head with great retention.

The aroma is a nice blend of grassy, floral hops and clove yeast.

The taste balances nice floral hop notes with spicy yeast flavor emphasized in the finish.

This is light and drinkable. This has perfect crisp carbonation.

I am loving this right now. I highly recommend it!

Bottled 11/8/11.

Pours a murky light orange-yellow with a foamy bone colored head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of malt, wheat, yeast, spices, and slight banana. Taste is much the same with an aftertaste of grain and banana. There is a mild spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

A: Pours a cloudy pale golden yellow in color with some moderate amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a two finger tall dense foamy off-white head that reduces to a thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer with a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate notes of malts and wheat along with some lighter hints of banana and clove. There is also a moderate aroma of floral hops notes.

T: There are some bready malts and wheat flavors along with the traditional notes of banana + clove and floral hops. Well balanced without either sweetness of bitterness dominating.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth.

O: Refreshing and easy to drink. Very enjoyable and definitely a beer to have again. Exactly what I would expect from this brewery - a great example of the style with a slight twist.

On-tap served in a Schneider glass at She Bar, Bangkok.

It shines by a brass color with thick foamy head that endures very well. The head just collapses a little bit and retains until the last sip along with some lacing on a glass side. The smell is so aromatic and inviting comprising of banana, clove, citrus and a note of floral while the taste is so tasty leading by fruity estery note (banana and citrus) with some spice from clove and graceful bitterness from hop. There is some good crisp to entertain a palate within its rather full body and smooth mouth feel, dry in a finish.

Tap 4 on tap is truly refreshing and truly good and now I begin to want more and more.

[Best served in a Weizen glass]

The pour was a murky brownish yellow with a large (2-3 finger) white frothy head that lasted a little while, reducing to a medium cap which created some excellent sheets of lacing.

The aroma was of a light grain malt and a bold sweaty yeast with notes of citrus (lemon), banana, wheat and a bit of spice (clove and coriander).

The taste was a tad sweet with a moderately strong citrus note early on, becoming rather wheat engulfed with a hint of banana, spice and was mildly acetic towards the end. The flavor lingered for a decent duration proceeding the swallow with a nice mild tart citrus wheat taste left to settle on the taste buds.

Mouthfeel was a few steps above light in body and a bit watery in texture with a mildly strong carbonation.

Overall a very impressive Organic Hefeweizen, one with a nice citrus banana taste and a slight appealing tartness at the finish. This is one of the best Organic brews I have had to date...

500ml bottle - still called 'George Schneider's Wiesen Edel-Weisse' on the newly arrived product in Alberta. Purity Law of 1516, blah, blah, blah, Cascade hops. Wait, what?

This beer pours a somewhat cloudy medium golden amber colour, with a teeming tower of over-flowing (right, the label says 'Original Bottle Fermentation'), puffy eggshell white head, which leaves some nice loopy coral reef lace around the glass as it eventually seeps away.

It smells of sharp citrus, competing with equally sharp wheat grain, the fruitiness of the hops tipping the scale, before the banana, clove, and yeast usual suspects come to stake their rightful claim. The taste is grainy, edgy wheat malt, moderately bitter lemon and orange citrus, some displaced banana chip dry fruitiness, unfettered clove spice, and tame earthy, leafy hops.

The bubbles are fairly sedate, but make themselves known here and there, the body a sturdy medium weight, and actually rather smooth, very little messing with that metric. It finishes sweet, wheaty, and still nice and fruity, of the hoppy sort - orange/banana smoothie, mostly, the spice and hop still holding on to a lesser extent.

Even the stubborn Germans are giving in to the Pacific NW hop craze, whodathunk? Well, it's not really that big of a surprise, as it doesn't technically violate the Rheinheitsgebot, but it is a bit of Sturm und Drang for those with specific Bavarian beer expectations. A decent old-world hefe, with well-integrated bitter fruity new-world hops. What's not to like?
