A - Caramel candy brown, with a very creamy offwhite head. Great retention and beautiful colors.

S - A quite light nose, with primarily floral notes. Crisp, sweet and subtle hops.

T - A mellow yet flavorful meld of malty and earthy tastes. Some light, smokey malt and dry wood notes. Semi sweet malt backdrop, yet so smooth and tame. Dry hops add another flavor to the mix. A slight dry funk to this beer, remeniscent of Belhaven Scottish Ale.

M - A dry, chewy, medium body with the flavors on the light side but plenty of them.

O - Intense balance and enjoyably smooth and delicious. A low profile carbonation helps mouthfeel and allows the flavors to pop.

I'm a huge Schneider Weisse fan and have been on the hunt for this one (only brewed once in 2011) for some time. Picked up 4 bottles when I found it and wasn't disappointed. Poured from a 750ml into a Weizen glass.

A: Beautifully shaped sexy bottle. Pours a lovely illuminated gold with about 4 fingers of expressive head. Relatively clear with no yeast tornado at the end of the pour.

N: As expected mostly yeast and bananas with the slightest suggestion of wine / grape aromas.

T: Lovely, balanced flavor with the Nelson Sauvin hops imparting a chardonnay like roundness and tart sweetness which is very mellow on the mouth. I have had TAP 5 Mein Hopfenweizen many times at the SW brewery and I was somehow expecting the single hopped profile on this TAP X to be aggressive like TAP 5. It's not, it is very sophisticated and soft. Flavors have nice floral angles and fruitiness, green apple and peach mixed in with the white wine vinous notes.

MF: Relatively full bodied with well engineered Bavarian carbonation. Expressiveness helps the various subtle flavors emerge on the sides of your tongue. Refreshing.

O: A nice beer and always good to bad a rarity. I really think this beer has probably mellowed significantly in the the nearly 2 years since it was bottled (day 214 of 2011). I would love to lay a bottle of this down for 5 more years to see how it evolves. I just might , if I can muster the willpower.

A - Bright gold in color with a white fluffy head.

S - Lightly sour and floral aroma with light banana undertones, bready and light yeast.

T - Cloves, bananas, light sourness, light floral, bready, lemons, and a mild fruity bitterness at the end.

M - Light medium mouthfeel, viscous, lightly sticky on the lips and are lingering banana, clove finish.

O -Elegant and worth a try, but pricey.

Poured into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a hazy medium golden amber with a fine three finger white head with great retention that leaves pillowy lacing. Classic weizen aroma of sweet wheat, bananas anc cloves, no evidence of the Nelson hopping. Flavor follows aroma, with sweet wheat, light banana and clove. Interesting light sweet fruit flavor, which I assume is from the the hops, vaguely reminiscent of a sweet white wine, although I would not have identified it as such if I had not read the bottle label. Finishes moderately dry with light fruity hops. Light bodied, but nice mouth feel from carbonation. A nice variant on a well made weizenbock. Flavors were well integrated, a bit subdued. Another great beer from this very consistantly good brewery.

Golden orange color with lots of thick head with good retention. Got darker and hazy on the last pours.
Aroma of yeast with banana notes and some booze.
Taste of wheat malt, oranges, bananas and cloves. Dry aftertaste with good hints of white wine, this is the main differentiator in this Weizenbock. The white wine feel gets stronger as it warms up.
Medium to full body with medium carbonation. Although present in the aroma, alcohol is practically unperceived in the taste.
Flavorful and refreshing, it kind of grew on me. Really liked the almost rare German innovative instance to use New Zealand white wine twisted hops.
This may be a good spell for bringing wine drinkers to the world of beers, from the bottle style to its taste. Actually, a friend that is into wine that gave me this, probably from a wine importer or store.
I hope Schneider Weisse change this to a year round edition.

I think this is a fantastic beer. Pours a hazy golden, with the haze providing a bit of a glow. White head is foamy, creamy and thick. Nice lacing.

Banana and clove are present in the nose, but not dominant like a regular hefe. That's fine with me. Instead there is a faint peach and tartness. Some soft citrus and an overall dryness.

Flavor follows the nose, although here the peach makes more of a presence. Maybe it's a combination with mango? Toward the end the clove and banana make a move toward the tongue but the carbonation lifts it all away.

Really nice beer.
