Notes:
Schneider version. This brew is the result of the long friendship of Brooklyn brewmaster Garrett Oliver and Schneider brewmaster Hans-Peter Drexler. Garrett had always admired the delicate balance of flavors in Schneider Weisse, while Hans-Peter had long enjoyed the effusive hop character of Brooklyn East India Pale Ale and BLAST! Garrett's concept for the collaboration was that each brewmaster would brew essentially the same pale, hoppy weissbock in the other's brewery, but with different hopping to reflect the local hop flavor.
Dry-hopped w/ Hallertauer Saphir.

EDIT:
Second bottle I've had of it- yeasty haze was still there, but didn't seem as dirty this time. Lacing was better, so I increase the score there.
Taste was MUCH fruitier, really tasty, can't pin what fruit flavor and aroma, but it was there and really upped the score for me. More hoppy/citric, but not bracing US hops. Will have to return to this one more time to be sure of what flavors, but this second time round really upped my take on this beer overall.
Original review:
A- Hazy, super muddled, dull straw color. Huge typical weisse head, rocky as it recedes, retains to the bottom. Couple spots of inconsistent lacing. I like swirling the yeast into my hefe-weisse, but this one just looked dirty, which detracted a bit for me.
S- Definitely european hops, earthier, aggressive but also balanced in the way a good english IPA would be. Reminded me of sweet mulch and fallen autumn leaves (very good smells in my book). Had slight fruitiness of melon and banana as I drank, perhaps from the schneider yeast strain, very nice aromas overall.
T- Aggressive european hopping, earthier. Some fruitiness in the middle, light malt presence. Threw me off since the aroma was so hoppy, but the hopping is much more mild than one might expect (especially if one is used to american hops). No alcohol despite the higher abv.
M- Fizzy, but not harshly carbonic, lightly refreshing, med body.
Overall, I enjoyed this beer quite a bit, more as it went along as the fruitiness came thru stronger. I like this better than brooklyn's version, as I feel this one is better balanced overall and simply tastier.

Golden yellow in color with an orangish hue and hazy. Poured with a rich white foam that quickly reduced to a wispy cap that left sheets of wet lacings on the glass. Sharp citrus hop aromas with wheat malt and sweet banana beneath. Creamy smooth feel down the middle with more aggressive, fizzier carbonation on the edges. Tangy pink grapefruit, tangerine and lemon zest hop flavors. Wheat malt backbone with sweet banana, powdery bubblegum and a peppery spicy bite near the end. Finishes with lingering citrus hop and banana sweet aftertaste. A touch of booze sneaks end toward the bottom of the glass. An interesting collaboration brew.

Poured from bottle into tulip. Purchased at Grassroots Market in Jacksonville, FL on business. Pour was very un-eventful...meh. Hazy golden straw color (nice) no head (bad) ...but it is 8.2abv...so...
Smell is good - not mind blowing. Hoppy hefe. Noble hops meet banana and clove crispness. Its actually more hops than I would have thought.
Taste is firstly bitter hop and herbal grassy notes - then some underlying hefe typical banana and clove, but its crisp yet heavy...some spices sine through. Its super easy to drink and pleasant and very very different. Well worth a buy - especially for $5. There is very little you can fault here; and a lot to gain. Well worth it.
