A - Dark amber, very good head and retention, minimal lacing

S - Banana and phenols

T/M - Very crisp. A bit of a tart/funky bite from the yeast. The alcohol content seems higher than the advertised 5.4%. And I swear I taste some dark malts in here somewhere.

O - This is the most interesting Hefe I've ever had. It seems kinda like a hybrid between a bock and a hefeweizen, but who am I to judge? This beer's been around since 1872! Probably won't buy it again though. I can't see a scenario where I'd rather drink this over Tap 6.

Appearance: chestnut, cloudy body with a big, strong head

Aroma: cloves, banana; malty; normal Bavarian Wheat aroma profile

Taste: Tart, acidic; slightly thin, but refreshing

Remarks: Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; so please disregard those scores

Enjoyed this bottle out of a large snifter glass.

A: Pours a golden amber hue with a thick, frothy, white hue with a nice trail and ends in a solid lace.

S: Banana cloves and some vanilla in the aroma.

T: Similar to the smell banana and cloves flavors that is slightly sweet and finishes slightly fruity.

M: Medium body and carbonation

O: Not my favorite style – but this is one of the better wheat beers I’ve had.

Poured from a bottle into an Erdinger weissbier glass. The pour is a light amber color with a nice fluffy white head that sadly doesn't hang around long enough. The nose has lots of spicy clove-like phenols and banana-like fruity esters and slight cracker-like wheat notes. No excessive hop character or diacetyl.

Nice firm feel and a smooth, tart, refreshing flavor. Fruit and wheat dominate with a hint of clove and vanilla and a nice pastry-like yeastiness. Tart citrus-like notes arrive near the finish, complementing the fruit and vanilla notes very nicely. Extremely drinkable and refreshing. No objectionable qualities whatsoever.

An excellent example of the style. These beers are best enjoyed, not picked apart, criticized, and dissected. Perhaps a bit less sweet and more tart than some others I've had, but it makes for a refreshing beverage. Recommended for fans of the style or those mowing the lawn on a hot summer day.

Hands down the worst hefeweizen, no, the worst wheat beer, I've ever had. Kinda pissed it cost me $4.50 for a pint bottle.

Color is gross. Considering it's a hefeweizen. It's brown. Big head like a hefeweizen should have though.

Smell is the best part. Banana, some taffy, a touch of clove I guess, but then alos some wet cardboard or something.

Taste - Kind of oxidized? Some over ripe banana. Taste falls flat., Not any strong flavors. slightly watered down.

Mouthfeel - a little too watery.

Overall, buy any hefeweizen but this one.

500ml bottle
Served in a weizen glass

A - It is amber in color with golden highlights. It is darker than most hefeweizens that I have tried. A couple of inches of eggshell head topped this beer.

S - I get a nice aroma of banana and cloves. Similar to but not as pungent as the Aventinus.

T - There is a distinct taste of banana and cloves. The is a slight tartness and a dry finish.

M - Moderate with lots of prickly carbonation.

O - This is about the fourth beer I have tried from this brewery, and they are all good. One of my favorite German breweries and a favorite overall, as well.

A - Pours a hazy copper colour, finger of head with some retention and no real lacing.

S - Musty bready malts, cloves, banana loaf, toasted grains and leafy greens.

T - Much like the nose, cloves and fruity notes, bready malts, bananas and musty wheat linger in the palette.

M - Medium bodied, smooth and wet.

O - A tasty brew that nails all the aspects of the style, easy drinking and well worth seeking out. A summer hefe that goes down smooth and is a go-to that will not disappoint.
