A- Dark golden with orange tones. The head formed 2 fingers thick but dissipated quickly leaving behind no lace.

S- Very sweet with a stale dry hop aroma. The aroma is not very pleasant.

T- Sweet upfront with monotone hop flavors that finish dry. It's overly sweet, almost sugar like. The hops don't lend any flavor, just a dull bitterness. They must have have only used hop oil.

M- Very light for an IPA, almost pilsner like.

O- Not very good. It's more like a pilsner than an IPA, and a lousy pilsner at that. It's extremely light and bland. It just takes like slightly bitter sugar water.

My brother told me about this beer in early autumn of 2012 and I saw a sixpack in Charleston, SC. I made this my official Citidel homecoming beer of 2012.
It cost about $7.00 in Charleston which is cheaper than I was prepared to pay so that was a nice surprise.
I poured it into a Solo cup as we started tailgating, and voila!...I like this beer.
Now mind you, the environment was perfect....tailgaters drinking beer, cooking out, my oldest and I throwing the football-all of these things contributed to the enjoyment of the particular IPA...but the best thing for about this beer is it tastes good and has a decent price....
Back home they started selling it in my town and it costs $6.57...which is even better!
It does not go through a kaleidoscope of flavors-grapefruit, mango, apricot-no.... ....the hops give it a mild piney and earthy taste followed up by the taste of malt and caramel.
I understand it is 6% abv, which corresponds well with the body and mouthfeel-nice balance- and the appearance of body when pouring....nice simple beer with a price that can be justified.
As a matter of fact, as long as it stays priced so well, it will be a weekend staple in my fridge.
Let's give it a 3.7 rating....

A- Poured from bottle into pint glass, dark amber color
S- Smelled "thick" to me, with an aroma of alcohol and some hops
T- This beer was maltier than I expected. I didn't get much taste of hops, which was a disappointment. It also tasted a bit flat.
M- Flat aftertaste, not pleasant, almost skunky. Could have been the bottle, not sure.

Overall, I didn't really enjoy anything about this beer. Its not horrible, but its not worth buying IMO.

I'm very surprised by the low rates for this fine ale. I found it to have an excellent aroma, firm head, great color, and a balanced bitterness. I also like an ale that is not excessively alcoholic. This is an ale you could enjoy throughout the evening. My personal assessments for pale ales and IPA's are almost always well aligned with those from Beer Advocate. This is the biggest exception by far. I will buy this ale again!

Poured a nice orangish hue with a snow white head that faded to a ring of bubbles quickly. Some lacing is present but weak.

A light sweetness and very light citrus hop aroma.

An even malt to citrus balance that shines nowhere, maybe fresh the aroma and taste do better.

Medium to light bodied, very good approachable brew. Nothing stands out though.

Well at 75 cent a brew it is worth a try, not bad to have on hand. Much better examples exist but hey I got a 12er for $9.

[Suggested Glassware: Tulip Glass]

The pour was a clear orange amber with an average (1-2 finger) white pillowy head that was mostly lasting, reducing to a medium film and collar with very good sticky lacing.

The aroma was rather mild of a light grain malt, floral hops and a soapy yeast with notes of caramel and citrus (orange peel).

The taste was bitter sweet and a tad malty with a touch of caramel in the beginning, and then became lightly hoppy with a bitter citrus peel ending. The flavor lasted for a decently long time following the swallow, with a bitter citrus peel taste left lying on the taste buds.

Mouthfeel was light in body with a thin dry texture and a medium carbonation.

Overall this was a decent enough IPA with a light bitter hoppy taste and an easy drinkability. This brew would be fine on a hot summer’s day, when you’re looking for something that was light and refreshing...

Pours a handsome amber in the big goblet, even has the orange IPA cast. A decent foam settles to a persistent swirl. Plenty of carbonation on the tongue. A nice tang of fruit in the nose.

Starts out malty and toasty. Finally some hops begin to show up. A touch of resins and a very shy bitterness gradually takes over. The malt is slightly roasted, with warm flavors. This certainly lacks the acidic punch of many aggressive IPAs. This is just a more timid sort of brew. Apparently there's not a category for American Adjunct IPA. However, in these days of tongue-buckling hop monsters, it's a well-made pleasant quaff playing in a dangerous neighborhood.

A- mostly clear shiny copper with golden highlights and a foamy buff colored head that is loose and airy and loud and generic looking. Not very hoppy looking either. Lace abounds.

S- brightly floral, spicy and citrus, but subdued. Underlying orange peel and caramel toasted grains.

T- pleasant bitterness with a resinous hop flavor, but Sierra Nevada pale ale seems hoppier than this IPA. It's got some lightly toasty grains and a small hint of sweetness but it lacks any sort of complexity or intrigue. Finishes nicely balanced but again, it has a very generic taste.

MF- medium bodied and fizzy with moderate dryness.

D- this is one laid back easy going IPA. Dollar store IPA. It's not offensive in any way, just bland.

This beer is a very earthy and mild IPA. Not what I was expecting at all, but not totally terrible. It is really drinkable, but the IPA bite that I was expecting is more of an aftertaste than anything else.

This is the most neutral beer that I have ever had. That is not really a good or bad thing, but I prefer for IPAs to be bold and rich. Saying that, I would not classify this as watered down, but it is very different. If you tried this as your first IPA, you would be very confused about the style if you tried another. This beer comes off as an IPA for someone with intense brand loyalty,and someone that would only drink this beer--this is not an attribute that I imagine for any IPA.

As with the other Henry Weinhard beer I had, this one really features cascade hops, which is a huge plus for me. I find this beer to be a really decent quality for what it is, and that is also a huge plus for me.

Overall, this is a beer that I would recommend, especially for people that either hate the IPA style, or people that want a beer on hand at a cookout that is more accessible than many IPA brews. I love the IPA style, and this in no way revolutionizes it, but it is not bad at all, and seems to be a decent beer.

I am biased here, I have yet to meet an IPA that I didn't like...I'm smitten. That being said, great flavor, nice bite. Like it alot. Will buy again. Great body, had with Carne Asada Tacos. Enjoyed bbqing out of bottle, just a beast that way. Thoroughly enjoyable.

A - Pours a golden amber with a very thick head that dissipates but never disappears. Leaves lots of lacing all over the glass. Lots of bubbles that don't take away from the look of the beer.

S - The second I poured the beer, I could smell the hops. Overwhelming almost, but then nothing. The smell disappeared almost entirely, and I could only smell it if I got really close to the glass. Smells good regardless of the lack of IPA tang I'm used to.

T - As a beer, not bad. As an IPA, eh... Tastes like a hopped up lager, which actually tastes pretty good, but as far as IPAs go, it's that hop wallop that counts, and it just isn't here for this one...

M - Nothing special here. Smooth and creamy.

O - Not a bad IPA for the Mix-A-Six bunch at my local supermarket. By no means a bad beer, but with IPAs being one of my top two favorite styles, this kinda let me down. Still a great beer in it's own right, and would definitely drink again if I had to.

Thanks to Tim (my bro) for sharing this with me, enjoyed chilled in a mug.

The color is deep amber bordering on copper with a light tan cap and tight bead, the lace clings well. The smell is mostly malt with a light yeast ester and floral hop aroma. The feel is moderately carbonated medium bodied with mild sweetness and semi full feel on the palate with slight diacetyl smoothness and toasted texture.

The taste s lightly nutty with light spice, but not very much bitterness to speak of with more of a pale ale taste wise than IPA since the herbal hops don't jump out and there is a balance of flavor with mild yeast flavor anchoring the malt/hops combo. Overall a pretty enjoyable beer, but I kind of think they do it a disservice by labeling something with such low hop flavor and aroma and IPA

Walmart in Arizona. $12.77 for a twelve pack. I figured, "Why not? It's gotta be better than Fat Tire."

Appearance:
Nice looking beer. Copper color. Strong carbonation. Good fizzy head, which dissipates quickly. Not much legs.

Smell:
Faint. Sweet. Bready.

Taste:
Bitter ginger ale. Sweet. Bready. Bitter. No fireworks. Not bad.

Mouthfeel.
Fizzy. Bitter. Slightly astringent. Good body.

Overall:
The more I drink it the more I like it. A no regrets kickass session beer. I could drink this a lot and still enjoy it. Good value. Not spectacular but surprisingly solid.

A: clear copper color light and crisp looking. Poured thick fizzy white head.

S: the nose on this one was good. You get the cascade hops. And also the caramel malts. Not very citrusy like alot of ipas but the hops are there.

M: thin Almost watery. Very carbonated.

T: hops up front but not enough. Malt finish. There isnt much.. at least what you do get is hops.

O: decent beer. For an ipa its poor. But it stands as a great entry level beer into the world of craft beers. For tge price, its Good. Its just not much there. The nakts are too present for an ipa. The makts also seem cheap. It has a malt liquor type maltiness. Not what you want in an ipa. Its good. Not bad like sime say.. yea its not great but hey for the price.. its Good Cheers

Clear orangeish amber colored beer with a small white colored head.

Smells malty and hoppy with a north western style hop aroma. Soda cracker malt with some grapefruit and some tea aromas.

Starts out sweet with a wood taste and a strong tea flavor. Mildly grassy with a mild grapefruit flavor.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Overall just an average beer.

Into glass mug from 12 ounce bottle.

A: Nice amber color with 3 finger head that dwinles down to a nice sheen with good lacing.

S: Nice cascade hops aroma with subtle malt notes.

T: Well balanced brew that is not as aggressive as most IPAs. The cascade hops do shine through though and leave a dry finish.

M: Nice medium light mouthfeel.

O: Picked these up on sale at a local supermarket. Well worth the dollar a bottle price.

Pours rather flat with a caramel color. Still learning scents, but nothing that necessarily stood out.

Kind of a light taste and rather underwhelming. Has a hint of citrus flavor, but again, not as flavorful as other IPAs I've had.

File this one to drink on one of those scorching summer days when I will inexplicably want an IPA and will prefer one that's lighter.

Otherwise, I'll select another.

Had on tap at TBones--Plymouth--served into a pint glass

Appearance: 1/4 inch head, golden-brown in color, clear, low carbonation

Smell: citrus and soapy hops

Taste: caramel, husk, citrus and soapy hops

Mouthfeel: sweet start with a light bitter middle and a stronger bitter end, light bodied, moderate carbonation

Overall: An average if not slightly timid IPA that drinks a bit more like a strong pale ale. This is not a beer I would turn down, but not one I would go out of my way for either.

A - see through caramel amber with a light, white head

S - faint citrus, faint crystal malts

T - faint bread, faint citrus, lightly spicy hops

M - light to medium bodied, well carbonated

This is a rather disappointing IPA. Nothing about this beer is forward or very pronounced. The body is a bit too light. The flavor is too subdued with a mediocre hop character. There just isn't here that makes me want to ever try this again.

Appearance - pours a golden color with a touch of orange. A thick finger of creamy, sticky foam forms up, leaving a nice wall of lace all around.

Aroma - a nice opening whiff of pininess. Some grain kicks in and then pretty much takes over. before long, its just a sweet grain smell, you might not now its an IPA at all. Attains a metallic edge as it warms.

Taste - the sweetness of the grain and the bitterness of the hop hit at the same time. The grains are thin, macro-ish and not at all robust, the hops are washed out with no depth or flavor. Everything has been diluted, I've had spicier pale ales.

Mouthfeel - crisp carbonation, moderate feel, it's alright.

Drinkability - a value buy IPA at DEPs fine wines in Fort Thomas. At $5.99 a 12-pack, I certainly got what I paid for. I don't say this about many beers, but this is one to drink out of the bottle and not a glass to keep some of the unpleasant nose under wraps. I'd grab it as a cheap lawn mower beer, low end fireside beer, something like that.

It pours a clear, light amber with a white head. Head retention is decent and the lacing is alright as well. It carries aromas of citrus and caramel, with a light malty backbone. The caramel is first tasted followed by some refreshing grapefruit notes from the hops. Malt shines through in the finish. There is a good amount of carbonation with a moderate mouthfeel. Overall, not too bad. Pick some up if you get the chance

Clear dark gold color. Good head for a bar pour. Leaves ring lace after each sip.

Metallic (iron-like) smell. Light and mild pale ale aromas. Muted hop.

Better flavor than the smell indicates. Fairly middle of the road, taste-wise. Dry, as if a bit of rye were added. Hop bitterness provides balance but isn't enough to fit the typical IPA profile. Medium bodied with a mildly elevated carbonation.

A new-one-to-me IPA. A buddy had a sixer of this in his fridge the other day. As a sucker for all things-IPA, I grabbed one. Poured into a pint glass.

Pours a translucent pale orange with a small white cap of foam on top. Good sticky lace on glass. Fresh hoppy aroma, some citrus notes, grass. Not sharp in any way.

Crisp, clean feel. Refreshing. This one is easy to drink. Mild hop bitterness makes this one up. This is definitely not one that'll scald the palate. Some sweet tangerine, honeysuckle. Easy drinking. This one won't compete with the big trendy IPAs out there, but it has its place. Sometimes all I want is a mildly bitter beer that I can have a few of, and this one fits the bill perfectly. A good 'gateway' IPA for the curious.

A: The beer is hazy yellowish amber in color and has a light to moderate amount amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger and a half high white head that has very good retention properties, only dying down a bit and leaving lacing on the sides of the glass.
S: There are light aromas of floral and citrusy hops in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell, except the malts contribute hints of caramel and the hops contribute a light amount of lingering bitterness as well as some spicy hints.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate with some hints of crispness and a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This isn't a bad IPA, but it can seem like a run of the mill beer considering the flavors and bitterness that others in the style can offer.
