Ah, Labor Day Weekend, sad that it is gone.

A - Served in a very very long glass in the pub. Had a nice foamy head when poured by quickly disappeared. Left some evidence of lacing. Bubbles were rather large forming in the glass. Seeing the bubbles travel that far was kind of neat.

S - Smell was not very detectable. It smelled mostly of sweet malt and maybe, maybe a little bit of diacetyl.

T - Had a pleasant malty sweetness. Nothing really complex though. Nothing objectionable though either. Could have used a little more hops in my opinion, but it fits the style well.

M - Nicely carbonated, but it is just a little too watery for me.

O - A very drinkable, average beer. If you are in Sedona and are looking for a brewpub to go to its worth a try. See if you like it yourself.

(12oz bottle). Pours crystal clear copper color with white head. Very little carbonation. Aroma has sweet honey, cardboard, and butter. Taste is sweet malt with with very mild hop bitterness. Thin bodied with a slick texture. This is an easy to drink beer, but its not my favorite style and not a great example either.

I spent the week in Sedona Arizona and tried the Oak Creek brews both at the brewery itself as well as at a lot of the other local places. I had this as part of a sampling as well as on draft at a couple of restaurants. Ambers are not my favorites but this one was more interesting than many of the others on the list.

The appearance is typical of an amber, darker than a pale, lighter than a brown. The smell was not very impressive but, to me, ambers never are. The flavor, however, was very interesting. A unique maltiness that is both sweet and complex with bread and a little dark fruit.

This was a very drinkable beer and one I was happy to see at every place I stopped at.

Poured bottle into Pint Glass

Appearance: Head dissipated very quickly. Virtually no lacing. Nice copper color though.

Smell: Smelled sweet... like candy in waxed paper (tootie roll like). Picked up a little bit of caramel

Taste: Very astringent after taste. Makes me want to take a drink of water. Slightly sweet.

Mouthfeel: Very light. Slight carbonation.

Drinkability: Its easy to drink, but the taste just isn't there to make me want to drink more.

Got this one on tap at the Sedona brewery. It's a light copper color, with a half inch of white head, leaving a decent amount of lacing. Smells of malt and butterscotch. The main flavor is butterscotch, followed by caramel and malt, with some hops bringing up the finish. Carbonation is just right. A little sweet for my tastes, sort of like a scotch ale, but still a very drinkable beer.

Appearance: pours a orange amber color with a 2" head that lingers a while. Some light lace stick to the sides of the glass.

Smell: some caramel and ripe fruit sweetness is very light along with some floral bitterness.

Taste: caramel, orange citrus, plum sweetness, and a floral bitterness makes up a decent amber ale.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Lightly crisp from start to finish. Aftertaste is mellow and leaves the mouth quickly.

Drinkability: on a hot day this is a great session beer while sitting out by the pool that is not heavy but flavorful.

Hazy, dull bronze in hue with coppery and amber influences; I like the color. Small off-white head, at the apex the foam was only a half finger tall and the bubbles quickly fell to a thin, soapy cap. A thin collar lasted the entire consumption but sadly there was no lace. Overall, this is a decent looking beer.

The nose doesn’t say too much. I detect some orange rinds with a kiss of lemon zest. Faintly grainy with a weakly spicy, caramel underbelly; it’s not fruity. In fact, I’d call the nose clean. The malt bill is lacking for me to consider this a good Amber Ale, it smells more like a weak APA to me. Even though the potency is low and the bouquet isn’t all that chatty I’ll call it neutral but inviting.

The palate shows more malt than the nose indicated but the flavor profile is still far from malty. Upfront is a pleasant blast of hops, there is moderate bitterness with some very enjoyable orange and lemon zest. The hoppiness lingers into the middle. The maltiness doesn’t really develop until the end and it weakly lingers into the finish. The faint caramel flavors are nice but I need much more complexity in an Amber Ale. With that said, this is not a half bad Amber Ale but there are better examples on the market.

A tickle smaller than medium in body, moderate but natural carbonation, the mouthfeel fits this beer well.

Well, this is an easy drinking and enjoyable quaff. It is growing on me. IMO, this Amber Ale is more of a Pale Ale than anything but I could drink a few of these with a juicy burger. On a hot AZ day I bet this would be a winner. I need to thank my Aunt Kathy and Uncle Rick; they sent me this beer from AZ. Recommended.

12 oz brown bottle, served in a stein

Pours a brownish amber color, which really isn't all that attractive. The head builds to a thin layer of foam that dissipates quickly. Nothing at all to be excited about in the looks department.

Smell is just beyond uninteresting and into the realm of unpleasent. It's mainly an overcooked corn smell with some strange underlying sweetness. I didn't find it aluring at all.

I didn't let that stop me, though. Unfortunately, the taste followed suit. Except now it was far more of a strange sweetened butter taste, like the stuff they put on kettle corn. Add that to the corn tastes and smells and it's really a rather strange experience...and not one that I like.

Mouthfeel is very average. A bit watery, with some fizz. Nothing great.

The only real reason I would buy this again is because it is consistenty cheap at most of the local grocery stores. But then again, so are beers like Full Sail Amber Ale, or even Stone's Levitation at Trader Joe's, both of which are FAR better choices, in my opinion.

The beer pours a clear dark amber color, large head and tons of lace. The nose is malt, sweet, and buttery, grainy. Start is malt and a bit sweet, the top skinny, the finish, clean and crisp, pertinently hopped, pleasantly acidic. The beer overall is a tad to sweet for my liking, fairly drinkable nonetheless, a “Session” beer maybe.
