from notes
A - very deep clear brown, creamy tan head with respectable retention
S - grainy, sour fruit, light grassy odour
T - roasty and light coffee malt, grainy and grassy hops
M - low carbonation, light and somewhat bready finish
O - not the best alley kat offering but it's something different, not bold by any means but still tasty

A - Pours a dark brown/caramel colour, thin layer of head with no retention and no lacing.

S - Quite unique with a grassy pilsener scent followed by some caramel undertones.

T - Quite bready, some brown sugar and maple sugar notes, grassy hops and wheat flavours on the finish. Malts weren't as strong as I had anticipated. Sweet corn flavours linger on the palette.

M - Medium bodied, though goes down a tad prickly, and ifnishes nice and wet.

O - Some unique flavours and easily drinkable, though I was expecting something a bit heavier on the roasted malt side. Definitely worth a try.

Wandering around Whyte Ave on a Saturday afternoon, getting thirsty, and sure enough, I'm standing in front of Dadeo's. They even have a beer list posted outside the door, so I grab a seat at the retro diner bar, and, enjoying the various old Edmonton-area beer posters hanging around me, order a bottle of this.

This beer pours a clear, dark brown hue, with golden edges, one finger of off-white head, and no lace. It smells of light nutty roasted caramel malt, and floral hops. The taste is roasted caramel malt, a bit of mild fruity citrus, and floral hops. The carbonation is on the low side, the body decently heavy for a lager, and it finishes off-dry, some roasted malt lingering. A good beer on its own, and pairs nicely with some N'awlins gumbo.

I just wanted to add that I have only ever seen this at Dadeo's on Whyte Ave in Edmonton. I think it must be now a contract brewing for them as not even Sherbrooke carries it. Really quite good and goes nice with their cajun food. My numbers are from memory as I had this last week and might be a bit off.

A refreshing summer brew with thanks to IronDjinn. It is like a mixed pouring of two beers, a dark and a lager. Pleasant appearance with large carbonated bubbles, like a fresh on-tap draft. Refreshing and drinkable. Floral hops. Recommend it for uniqueness.

Only ever saw this beer in one liquor store in all of Edmonton, in the Lendrum strip mall. No sign of it even at the mighty Chateau Louis.

Was available in singles of 341 ml brown bottles. I like the design of the label, reminds me of N'awlins mardi gras propoganda done in a flat silkscreen style. My favorite label of Alley Kat's so far.

Pours out a deep nutty brown, very dark somewhat hazy amber when held up to the light. Very little head on the pour, difuses quickly to a thin off-white ring. The aroma is a wonderful surprise, sweet bready roasted malt, reminds me most quickly of chocolate biscotti, chocolate notes, a hint of coffee. Very faint floral hops in the background. Flavour is more mellow than the aroma, a slight tang of sweet metallic malt up front, but all the real action happens on the finish. Chewy roasted malt, a bit of citrus, and what seems to me like cascade hops all dance around with one another on the finish, although the dance floor seemed relatively empty at first sip. Mouthfeel is velvety at first, then finishes oily, along with a bit of an acidic aftertaste, similar to their Full Moon Pale Ale. I would probably stop at about two of these in a sitting, but would pick up more next time I am in those parts. Definitely worth trying, another notch in Alley Kat's expanding repertoire.
