This beercomes out looking a bit like champagne. It's a few shdes darker at a brilliantly bright and clear gold, but the spritzy, big-bubbled pure white head that forms and the continuing bubbly activity give it that champagne look. The bubbling does little for it, though, as the head dies off almost immediately. A bit of head does remain at the edges, leaving some creamy wisps that leg off here and there.
It smells dry and vinous, definitely giving off lots of white grape...definitely a good sign. If this is supposed to be a Kolsch, I think they got it right. Crackery malts, vinous, tart, dry: positive on all counts. However, while Kolsch is light, it can still have a presence. This meekly fades away after it's sat for a minute or two.
Unfortunately, that doesn't translate to the flavor. Instead I get grains and creamed corn notes over a tart sweetness. The good news is that as I continue to sip it , the other stuff backs off and lets the tartnss come out. I can't shake that initial flavor that continues to flash in and out.
The body is light, like it should be, but it shouldn't be flat. This isn't completely flat, per se, as carbonation is moderate and there's some crispness, but it doesn't have the bite or vitality of the good stuff.

Slightly sulfur and Am. lager yeast aroma. Sure doesn't smell like the Kolsch's I like.
Dense white head caps a very pale gold body with plenty o' action of bubbles. Some soft lacing.
Lightly flavored all around. Pale malt first. Some flavorful citrus, soft hops and bittering and lightly dry on the finish.
Fully, and more fully carbonated. I feel full after two pulls. Yet soft . Lighter body.
Not really all that Kolsch like for my tastes. Just a version of an Am. lager really. A decent one of those and thirst quenching, but nothing more than that.

12oz bottle pured into a pint glass.

A- Poured a bright and cheery light golden color, cystal clear. An adundance of tiny bubbles steadily rise to a 1-finger white head that fades quickly to a film. Minimal lacing. A clean and fresh look, too bad it lacks head and lace.

S-Grainy, some rye, peppery, mild pale malt. A touch of hoppiness.

T-Some sweetness from the malts up front followed by the rye pepperiness. Some lemon.

M- There's some bite from the rye and hops. It's very smooth and drinkable with a dry finish and no aftertaste. The shoftfall is that it's light and fizzy, too.

O- I like it. A little more beer head, some lacing, and a bit more body and I could rate this a bit higher. For what it lacks, it has flavor and drinkability. Not bad.

Best by July 08, 2013:

Into a stange:

A: clear yellow colored body, decent amount of carbonation is seen rising at a moderate pace, quickly dieing one finger white foamy head, moderate amount of lightly clingy foamy lacing

S: malty, some light rye

T: sweet through the previously mentioned flavors, dry sweet aftertaste, dry finish

M: light; sessionable; though adequately carbonated for the style, its still slightly felt

O: this is decent for the style, and decent to me. Though there are tastier Kolsches out there, this isn't bad for a cheaper option that is pretty light, I'd probably grab another when in a pinch

Not bad for a Leinie;s offering. This is a dryish offering with a light bready maltiness and a slightly spicy hop dimension...also a hint of lemon on the finish.

Clean drinking....light bodied but not real thin...works as a summer time thirst quencher type beer that craft beer lovers could drink. Just not sure this will have the crossover appeal to the macro drinkers that Leinie seems to target their beers toward. They're already closing out this beer with cheap specials at all the liqour stores in my town. My guess is we'll see something in its place next year but I kind of like it actually.

pours a perfectly clear gold colour with bronze edges. slight head and sparse lace. clean malty aroma. a touch corny. the taste profile gives a little more...pale maltiness and some corny adjunct are ever so slightly complimented by a wispy spiciness from the rye used. a rough grassy herbal hop bite provides a balance to the medium sweetness. this is in the ballpark of the traditional kolsh style, so that's a plus. medium bodied. light crisp mouthfeel. ghost like lingering spice/bitterness. drinkability is fair enough. a lawnmower or yardwork beer as it does provide a degree of quenchability.

overall...about what one would expect from Leinies. drinks nice, quenches thoroughly, and brings just enough character to keep it (slightly) interesting. wasn't bad after a day of yardwork on a beautiful May afternoon.

Appearance is a bright clear copper with a velvety dense white head. Great retention and plenty of lacing. Nose has light grainy malts with waves of orange and wheat and a touch of corn. Taste is somewhat malty with notes of orange and corn. Almost like a cross between a wheat and a kolsch. The finish becomes overly grainy and corny, reminiscent of an adjunct lager. Mouthfeel is smooth and moderate bodied. Overall, another typical offering from Leinies, nothing special or particularly tasty, but also palatable.
