I bought a 12pk Summer Sampler cans from Woodman's in Janesville, WI in spring 2011.
Poours a reddish amber color with a thin head on it. Great cranberry scent that reminds me very much of Ocean Spray. Very strong cranberry taste as well. Drinks rather smooth and has a great taste. I can understand why many BA's rate this beer rather low as it doesn't taste anything like a beer and more like a cranberry malternative. No real beer taste here but I enjoyed it. Something great to try this summer!

A: Hazy red hued color with a 2 finger head which retained well. The color was a pinkish color.
S: Strong berry smell.
T: Wow. Way too sweet. Sour on the finish. Where is the beer? Tastes like soda.
M: Light body.
O: Did not care for. Just way too much berry...off-putting.

I enjoyed a few of these at a spring training game in Tempe, AZ. The beer was surprisingly decent for a fruity beer. The beer obviously had an aroma of sweetened berries, a purplish color wih no head, a sweet finish and surprisingly good taste. No carbonation like I thought there would be, and no aftertaste. Overall a decent beer If you get a chance to try it, you will be surprised.

reviewed from notes, this one was poured into a pint glass and given to me by my in laws.
i knew i was in trouble when this candy like color starts to fill the glass, with a fizzy white top that seams to pop up and fall down immediatly. ehh. but then i took a whiff, fake berries, and just light kool aid like aroma. not even close to a good fruit beer. way too light and the flavors and aromas are so blatently artificial it was downright scary. light berrys and hints of sweet malts try and poke up but they are just remnants of what would make a good beer.
overall no. some of these i can get by with and make a pass, but this was just way off the mark. too light, too fruity, just a mess.

From notes: Poured an orangish pinkish hue with white bubbly moderate head, and a light haze. Aromas are artificial berry, sugary and sweet with crystal light and fruit punch shining through largely. Initial is the same, light carbonation, and a sweet berry punch like feel. It really feel a lot of raspberry crystal light. Not very beer like, but this could have been much worse. A little sweet and cloying, clearly. But not awful.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.
A: Hazy rose color. About an inch of pinkish white head that disappears quickly.
S: Sweet berries smell.
T: Blackberries, honey. The sweet taste and blackberries are very dominant. Not much else comes out.
M: Light and easy drinking.
D: Sweet and light but comes across more like a wine cooler than a beer.

Ruby red highlights, very slightly hazy and with a pinkish white foam crown. Color's pretty good, deep and dynamic coloring. Head is, well, pink. Pretty decent looking Wisconsin fruit beer. Smells pretty fruity; berries, obviously, rasp and blue varieties. Some softer wheat tones, with a twist on citrus rind. Very sweet and candy-like, but not exactly immature. Taste is very sweet, however, overpoweringly so. Lots of anonymous berry flavors loaded with sweet syrup. Big shot of streaky cereal adjuncts up the middle with a lasting clean aluminum flavor. Deeper inspection reveals some very pale malts used here, along with a faint touch of the honey mentioned on the label.
Way too sweet and one-sided. Hardly a beer, honestly. Drinkability is tough with this kiddie beer.

Sounded interesting in the store. Waited for a hot day for with this beer it seemed fitting. Yikes, wine cooler. Effervescent pour, clear gold with little or no head. Smelled of berries but not fresh, artificial. Tasted very crisp and refreshing, but to much and very much like a wine cooler. It was tart and fruity and really was not bad. Drinkable? Yes, no doubt. Wait for a sultry summer day.

Pours out a reddish color with a thin pinkish white head. Carbonation is moderate, little retention and little lacing.
The smell is blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, honey and wheat.
This has a strong berry taste followed by some honey, wheat and a little bit of hops. Also has a berry flavored syrup taste that reminds me of fruit flavored pop, but the alcohol reminds me of some wines.
The mouthfeel is a sweet sticky feel on the lips and tongue.
I'd say this is a nice drinkable beer and worth checking out for those that like fruit flavored beer.

A: pinkish, purple body, big 2 finger head, and very little lacing.
S: raspberry, logan berry, perhaps blueberry. sugary sweet.
T: powerful sweet berries similar to the scent.
M: syrupy, big carbonation, feels a like a wine cooler or berry cola.
D: Can't handle more than one due to the sweetness. After visiting Leine's Chippewa Falls Brewery, I asked the tour guide, "do people actually buy Berry Weiss?" He responded, "it's a huge hit with the ladies."

Pours pinkish/orange with small white head. Aroma of berrys, grapes, blueberry. Taste of blueberry , grapes, very fruity and sweet. Palate is light body, very bubbly carbonation. Reminds me of a wine cooler. Finish is very sweet. Did not like this beer.

Reviewed from notes.
Poured into a pint glass. Pours a moderate caramelish color with maybe a hint of red. The nose is bright berries and a lot of sweetness. Cloying to start. The taste really gets in there with the sweetness and berry. Almost like beer juice. The feel is just too much with a lot of sugar. Way too much to drink more than a few ounces of; don't know how I did this in college.

Look - semi-hazy in color and in visible texture. Two fingers worth of foam that dissipates quickly. Decent carbonation.
Smell - The berry aroma is pretty strong, after that a slight hoppiness. The berry flavor is somewhat ambiguous. Blackberries might be slightly more prominent.
Taste - very sweet at the very onset. Drinking this beer is more like drinking a strongly berry-flavored sweet tea, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Likewise with the smell, the blackberry juice taste might be somewhat more prominent. Texture is creamier than I would have thought it to be.
Drinkability - this brew is a little too sweet for me to endure in a beer, but much better-tasting than some beers of this same variety.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.
Apperance: Pours a reddish-pink with a finger's worth of head. Retention is below average, just wisps of the head remain a minute after pouring.
Smell: Berries and wheat. At least I can smell the wheat here, unlike Sunset Wheat (which I enjoyed, for the record).
Taste: Berries, berries, berries. Where'd the wheat go? I sure don't taste it. This tastes like some sort of fruit juice/wine cooler hybrid. It doesn't taste bad, but it doesn't taste like beer either.
Mouthfeel: Crisp and light, par for the courss for a Leine.
Drinkability: It drinks more like juice than beer.
Does your girlfriend just love wine coolers but you can't bring yourself to buy them? Buy her some Berry Weiss instead!

stupidity on my part i took a drink from the bottle, so the appearcnce of the beer i didn't get much of a chance to see.
high berry fruity smell. remember the miller lite commercials with the celebrities in the glass box making the "beer rules"? the smell of berry weiss reminds me of that commercial of "don't fruit the beer".
the taste i think is worse than the smell. took one drink and spit it out in the sink. tried to pawn of the open bottle onto my wife, who also took one drink and that was it. we dumped the rest of the bottle.

One finger of light pink head disopates into a light ring floating on the foggy pink/amber beer. Looks quite appealing.
Smells like berries, not much else, no alcohol smell.
Tastes a bit like wine, very tart and dry. I get a lot of cranberry, blackberry, and some grapefruit.
Pretty thin feel, although it leaves a pleasant sweet finish. No lingering aftertaste.
I recommend trying this with some cheese and crackers... before the heavy stuff comes out.

12oz. bottle poured into a Leinie's weiss glass
It pours a orange pink color with a frothy 2 finger head in the slightest pink shade that lingers a surprising amount of time. The beer has just a touch of haziness to it. A very minimal amount of lacing
The nose is upfront and fairly sweet with the berries. Unlike other well done fruit beers where the smell of fresh fruit is overpowering this one lends itself to a seemingly artificial extract raspberry smell without much backbone to it.
The first thing that hits my tongue is an overwhelming amount of sweetness. Those raspberry extract flavors then through with the expected flavors that come with using flavoring. The sweetness and the raspberry completely over powers any beer type taste. While swishing the beer in my mouth I could detect just the slightest flavor and mouthfeel of wheat. Besides that it's a very one dimensional sweet tasting fruit beer and not a very good example
The mouth feel is pretty clean, crisp and dry. I understand that all of Leinie's regular offerings are produced as lagers this shows. Hardly any body to the beer at all. The carbonation level is on the higher side which to me help wash away all the sweetness. Drinkability is pretty low because of the sweetness. Out of the many times I've had this beer I always find the last half of the pint almost unbearable in the how sugary it tastes.

A - Cloudy reddish amber in color with an inch of bubbly head that didn't last too long.
S - Very fruity as one would expect from this beer, lots of berry aromas, raspberry and blackberry for sure. The wheat vs. the berries makes it interesting.
T - This is pretty tasty, but not something I would run out and get for myself. A little bitter, a little sour, and for sure fruity.
M - This beer is very crisp and leaves a slight sugary coating after each sip.
D - Light alcohol fruit beer, refreshing and goes down easy.

Pinkish-orange color with an off white head with poor retention and little lacing. Smells of artificial berries, definitely not a good sign. Tastes like artificial berry flavoring. Too sweet, and reminds me of Celis Raspberry, which was not good. Light bodied, thin, decent carbonation. I would say to avoid this one.

A: A cloudy, pink tinted fruit beer with a thin but noticable head
S: Fruity, but bitter aroma. Strong blackberry smell.
M: Sharp, strong carbonation, but very light.
T: It had a taste that reminded me of Berry Juicy Juice with a very bitter aftertasted
D: It's something I could definitely drink a few of, but it was so sweet, it's not something I would want to start drinking with.
This beer belongs in a category of Dessert Beers.

12 oz. bottle tried 25 Jul 2007.
Medium sized pinkish head. Rosy slightly cloudy purple haze. Smells like raspberry jam, but kinda one dimensional. Tastes like very sweet well carbonated raspberry koolaid. Finishes with a faint tartness. Medium body. Alcohol minimal.
The beer to drink when the beer you want is a slightly alcoholic berry soda.

S: Strong black berry smell.
T: Sweet fruity taste, with a strange(bad) after taste. a bit sour also.
M: Light body.
D: To much of a berry flavor. i could drink one... but would never buy again. after one beer, its really filling. i bought a six pack and i don't even want to drink the rest. it kind of taste like kool aid and vodka...

Pours a dark orange color, with some hints of purple (could be my imagination) and a frothy whiteish head. I get some berries in the aroma, and not a whole lot more. Taking my first drink of this one, I immediately get the feeling I am drinking a sickly, sweet berry flavored soda. Too much carbonation and too much fake berry flavors. Truly a horrible beer; I could not come close to finishing a bottle.

A: poured a pinkish purple into my tulip with a finger of head tha had hardly any lacing on the glass.
S: intense berry aromas that almost make the beer smell like fruit punch. Very little malt character without any hop presence.
T: a very crisp berry kick that reminds me of a blonde style brewed beer with the fruit added. I kinda gotta a slight wheat flavor after a couple sips too.
M: meduim bodied with good bubbly carbonation to add the overall fruit backbone.
D: probably would only drink one due to the sweetness of the beer but a good offering from leinenkugel. Sunset wheat is still my favorite from them.
