Color: Pale golden color (similar to a lager) with a big head that fades to a one-finger head. The color is too bright for a wheat beer.
Aroma: Subtle honey and wheat flavors upfront. Sweetness is detectable.
Taste: Starts out somewhat bitter but then fades into a decent wheat and honey taste in the middle. Sweet. Smooth. Nothing much else to note.
Mouthfeel: Sweet and full of honey flavor. Dry. Some lingering bitterness.
Verdict: Similar to J.W Dundees Honey Brown due to being a beer with honey in it. Just not very impressive here. Drinkable but you aren't missing anything if you haven't had it already.

A Leinie wheat I had with dinner...
A: Yellow, white head, no retention or lace.
S: Honey, wheat (duh?), lemon citrus.
T: lemon citrus, wheat, pineapple, honey sweetness.
M: Light to moderate body, greater than moderate carbonation.
D: Accessible, but not enticing.

Poured into a pint.
This beer pours a thin white head and the color is a straw yellow. The head dissipates quickly.
The honey was hardly detected. There was a strong hint of lemon zest as well. Some wheat flavors.
Mouthfeel is very thin and crisp, nothing major going on with this beer.
I could enjoy a few of these beers during the evening on a summer day if I wanted to. Nothing, I plan to buy a lot of.

This doesn't hold a candle to Leine's Creamy Dark. Passable wheat beer but there just isn't much under the hood. Faint honey aroma. Straw colored with thin head. Very light flavor with little character.

Light golden yellow in color, with a good white head, some what lacey. Smells of grassy hops and grains, somewhat citrusy lemon-like, with just a hint of the honey. Taste is a bit watery with a good hop dryness and a touch of honey and lemon. You could easily drink a ton of these, but why?

12oz from the "these beers probably should have been drank by now basement cooler".. A couple of these were brought back to Boise by coworkers who spent some time in Minnesota earlier this year... this is my last one.
Pours very clear very light straw color.. short head and minimal lacing.
Smells sweet with some honey remnants.. I am not even picking out pale malts let alone hops... not my cup of tea, although the honey would probably be better in a cup of green tea.
Sweet.. maybe a little citrus mid palate.. finishes slightly sweet with some lingering honey flavors and a touch of yeasty fruitiness... very one dimensional... body is very light and carbonation is very high.. just Okay at absolute best... unpleasant sour as it warms... no malts to speak of.
I really didn't like this one the first time and like it less this time around... If it was available in Boise, I would buy a few and try to turn my macro drinking coworkers and then chastise them for ever liking it.

Poured from a bottle to a weizen glass. This had a golden color, lighter than I expected. It wasn't especially thick in texture. There was a decent head on it, as well as a good bit of lacing.
I really couldn't detect anything but the wheat in the smell on this one.
This beer bills itself as honey weiss, but - and maybe this is just me - I couldn't really taste any honey at all. There was a mild wheat taste, but mainly it was just like a lot of other average beers.
There was an okay amount of carbonation. The finish was slick. Very average mouthfeel.
Leinenkugel's did nothing for me. It wasn't complex in taste and certainly didn't distinguish itself in any way.

Pours a clean pale yellow, with a white head. In the aroma, wheaty and sweet to dry honey. In the taste, lemon citrus, a wheat like bite, and rounded out with honey flavors of clove. A small bite and a lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry wheat and clove like aftertaste. Looks more like a pils, kind of thin and domestic like.

I drank this from the tap at a White Sox game.
The beer is pale cloudy gold in color with a white head that lasts longer then I would have thought.
it has no distint aroma or taste for that matter. Its light summer beer, a total sessional that I enjoyed more than I would a Miller lite. Over nothing special, but it is what it is.

12oz single, out of the beer shelf in my boy's fridge
appearance: pours a pale golden yellow colour into pint glass, a slight foamy white head with very little lacing follows, looks macro
smell: sweet wet grain, weak malt, very faint honey, midwest corn coming through in the nose, mild peppery spice
taste: sweet malt, grainy, midwest corn flavours, little if no honey taste at all, light lemon peel, grassy. Not very good but if this is as bad is gets then you are in better shape than most
mouthfeel: thin, watery
drinability: its a session, thats fo sho

Leinies fails again. But at least this is better than the Berry Weiss.
Honey....barely.
Weiss...not at all (at least no discernable traits).
Pours golden with a quick-to-dissapear foamy head.
Funky sweet smell. Not honey...not really malty. Mostly just faint corn syrup.
Taste is virtually absent. Light malts...hops in the finish. Whatever...
Forget this one.
Leinies continues to be Wisconsin's bastard son.
In some odd way...this beer reminds me of Corey Feldman. I am just not sure why this was/is popular around here.

Poured into weizen glass. Poured a clean, clear, bright yellow with about an inch of white head that dissipated immediately, but left some lacing.
The scent was sour and slightly skunky, with a bit of a sweet background. The taste was pretty much the same. The body was thin. Drinkability was OK, if it were in my local Quickymart, I might grab a sixer for the beach or park.
Not a great beer, but might be worth a shot if you see it.

12 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass. 09079 on bottle.
A - A three finger white, sudsy head with short retention rests above a very effervescent yellow straw body. Good lacing though.
S - Slight honey aroma compliments the wheat flavor well but it also partially lost in corn and straw huskiness.
T - Sweet, deluded honey is faint but tasty and balances the dry, crisp beer well. Wheat, straw, and corn flavors too.
M - Very sharp and crisp but refreshing. Light bodied.
D - As one of their flagship beers, it's a solid brew for a lighter beer. Decent flavor and aroma coupled with a fantastic drinkability lends this beer well to the session brew category.

Nice, sweet malt aroma, but not much to announce that this is a wheat. Very clean flavor - nothing noteworthy, other than the fact that there are no off-flavors, and "technically" pretty well made. Honey does seem to lend some sweetness, but no particular honey flavors are evident. A refreshing American pale wheat, but quite average.

A: A clear yellow/gold with a small white head that fades fast. Almost no lace on the glass, and lots of bubbles rising to the top.
S: Light malt and hops, faint smell of sweet honey and citrus.
T: sweet malt with notes of honey and a bit of hops. Sweet and crisp. Carbonation is present and tastes like champagne to me.
D: To much carbonation. About as drinkable as a macro beer.
Again, I wish Texas could get some of Leiny's good beers (like Creamy Dark). As it is, I like this better than the Sunset Wheat, but that is not saying much. I can make out an odd distinct champagne like sweetness and carbonation for some reason, and it is a turn off for me.

Pale honey-straw body with a small fizzy head. Faint cereal smells, maybe a hop or two. Taste is slightly sweet. Maybe some adjuncts in here... Honey? Well, perhaps, but it's not much different than Grain Belt's sweetness. Finish is short, but quenching, with a crisp wheat tang. I've had better glasses of this on tap, and it's sometimes the best choice among local bars in MN, especially in the summer.

12 oz bottle, best by 11/9/09, into a deep goblet.
A: Clear, bright gold body; small white head that dissipates quickly, leaving little lace; very light on the visible carbonation. Boring.
S: Light, grainy, and somewhat sweet. Nothing much, but nothing off either.
T: Light and refreshing, with just a hint of wheat spice and yeastiness. Honey sweetness and dry breadiness fight it out on the finish. Just what I'd look for in beer of this style.
M: Light bodied with ample, soft carbonation (far more than its appearance boded). Not bad.
D: A touch sweeter than some other beers of its style, but still quite quaffable.
Notes: This has long been a go-to summer refresher for me, and I think it's one of the more successful brews in Leinie's lineup. Nothing truly remarkable, but always satisfying.
Cheers!

A - Looks like a pretty clear golden yellow. Carbonation makes the head die down very quickly with very little lace to speak of. Kind of soda like.
S - Smells rather pleasant. Got the honey, mild grain, and lemony zest down perfectly.
T - Liked it considering Leinenkugel's does great things with the flavor of their beers. You get sweet honey balanced with mild hops (very little) and grain then finishes kind of bitter with lemon.
M - Where it gets in flavor lacks in body. Very light and thin
D - Kind of boring, one dimensional and body was way to light for me to consider a second purchase. Still it was cool to try and overall a tasty beverage.

My first Leinenkugel, courtesy of my next door neighbor whose old friend from Wisconsin brought some of these by. Pours a clear, very light yellow body with a smallish white head that drops immediately. No lacing. Aroma is sweet clover honey and some sweet malt. No hop presence here. Mouthfeel is light bodied and low on carbonation. Carbonation could have been affected by the long journey in a car trunk. The taste is sweet. Malty sweet, honey sweet, and some wheat grain in the background. Again, no hop presence. Drinkability suffers from the sweetness, which is almost one dimensional. Not a Weiss that I would care to have again.

A cross-over brew at best, not much going on with this one. Average, plain - and with a cheapy price.
Clear lemon pour, not much in the way of white head. No aroma at all - nuttin happening here. Taste was more of a soapy pilsner than a honey wheat. Body was crisp and thin. Decent drinking in the summer heat, but find a beer with more taste.

Poured a pale golden color with moderate white puffy head.
Smell is very light with only a touch of sweetness.
Taste is on the sweet side, and the honey adds to this sweetness.
Finishes with more sweetness.
This beer is easy to drink. Because of the sweetness, one is enough.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: light golden color with a crystal-clear body. Head is two fingers of rapidly-dissipating frothy white foam. Not half bad.
Smell: sweet malty, grainy aroma with a tinge of sourness. Basically your standard adjunct lager smell; not great.
Taste: sweetish; slightly malty, slightly grainy. The alcohol is quite noticeable, which is surprising for a relatively low alcohol beer. Also not great, but better than the smell.
Mouthfeel: not bad carbonation in a light-medium body. Probably the high point of this beer.
Drinkability: ugh. I wouldn't have another.

This is a flavorful sluggin' beer--a "banquet" beer to use Coors' term-- a beer that you might find a fireman's ball or an old man's fridge.
Pours clear and straw-golden but with a nice head. Smells faintly like lemons and honey with just a hint of malt. Nice smell, surprisingly, but faint.
As much as it may look like a regular macro, it sure as heck doesn't much taste like one. I mean, the taste is still as woefully faint as that of a macro, but it's actually good. Yeast upfront with a hint of citrus and a little wheat bitterness. More wheat in the back and a sweet kick of dry honey. Complex and tasty, but not flavorful enough.
Thin on the body, like a macro, but it's pretty darn smooth and you can pound these all night.

A big shout out to woodychandler for yet another canned beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a pale yellow color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of wheat and grains, a touch of honey. Taste is also big on the wheat, some honey is present. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent brew.

Poured at the the former Thunderbird now Ramada Mall Hotel in Minneapolis this one shows a clear gold with nominal bubblage, a modest white uneven cover and a reasonable bit of lacing. It has a simple cereal wheat aroma with a touch of citrus. The taste is a fairly healthy grainy grass and a hint of malt. Modest carbonation and plenty drinkable.
